An eclectic range of poetry styles and themes which reflect the wonderful diversity of the UK today. It was was really effective to hear the poets read their own work and hear about their heritage; I felt it as a listener it made me feel more connected to what I was hearing. I'd recommend this as a good starting point for young people wanting to find out more about the contemporary UK slam poetry scene.

Poetry is the fastest growing art form in the UK and this book is a celebration of ground-breaking poets making their voices heard in the spoken word scene. The poems are separated by theme – home, kin, duality, protest, desire and acceptance – and are each accompanied by a top tip for poetry performance. It’s a great way to find new poets and Nikita Gill has written a moving introduction to the book. The key thing, however, is that I really recommend the audiobook; each poem is performed by its author and it really brings them to life.

Very powerful. Loved the readings and the poetry itself. So many great and moving poems. Loved the tips to young poets at the end of each section. Superb resource for schools.

I really enjoyed this, but felt that it was very short! I wanted more!!
The poetry was great, and I love the tips that each of the writers' gave after they read their poems.

I found the introduction by Gill incredibly empowering, and moving!

So again, I really enjoyed this but just felt that it was a little too short!

I absolutely adored this - beautiful, striking, memorable poetry.

The audiobook ended after ‘England’ so I wonder if I only downloaded the sample by mistake or if this was on purpose? Either way, a necessary, heart-wrenching book of poems, and one to recommend for young people and adults alike.
