I enjoyed that this book didn't have a multitude of twists in the plot, it was more story-driven than surprising. It was fast paced and Leah was a good main character, although not entirely likeable.

I did feel as though the book was a bit predictable, and I found it unrealistic in parts. It started stronger than it finished, unfortunately.

Overall a decent, easy to read thriller.

A page turner, The Good Neighbour had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! The chapters were a little short which irked me a bit, and the main character made some stupid decisions along the way, but overall I just could not put this book down. I loved all the twists, I didn’t see many of them coming! Thank you to Netgalley for providing the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I really enjoy Parker's work and how different it always if from the regular old thrillers. This one was no different really. It wasn't as fast paced as I'm used to from Parker, but it was definitely action packed and was paced nicely to keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed the main character, but the rest of them were awful as they were supposed to be I believe. I did enjoy the plot of the novel quite a bit and I will definitely continue to have Parker as an auto-buy author!

Shaken and with her car out of commission after a collision with a deer, Leah Talbot heads to the nearest house whose lights are on for help, chastising herself for allowing the battery to go dead in her cell phone. Luckily, the accommodating homeowner invites Leah to use his landline to call the towing service and offers shelter until help arrives. Leah’s discomfort grows as quickly as her attraction to the man in the house; but when a brief kiss sends her, embarrassed, into the rain to wait, Leah finds that she can’t let go of the memory of him.

It may have been the chilly encounter with her drunken husband after Leah gets home, but she feels compelled to see Martin, her rescuer, again, and she sets off in her husband’s car with a bottle of wine as thanks to him. Expecting to work out her feelings for him, Leah is shocked when she arrives at his house to find it surrounded by police cars, and stunned to discover that Martin, rather than being the homeowner, is actually a killer whose victim lay dead upstairs while Leah and Martin waited.


Good Neighbour reads more like a novella than a fully fleshed-out novel and lacks the suspense it needs; not a terrible book, just one with a rushed feel.

A taut thriller that is unyielding in its suspense. It’s a premise that is sure to gather a lot of attention. It’s a book that makes you feel you have stopped time as you race through the pages as you are desperate to know what will happen next.

When Leah crashes her car on a country lane, a light at a near-by house is her saving grace.. A charming man called Martin opens the door and does everything he can to help Leah, including calling roadside recovery to recover her car and get her home safe. When she returns the next morning to give her thanks, the police are all over the house. It would appear there are no known male occupants of the house and the single female home-owner has been found murdered. Leah assumes she will never see Martin again, until he comes looking for her.
I love this book. The story is based around a really strong plot-line rather than relying on twists throughout. It seems horrifyingly possible and the writing makes it believable. The characters are strong and easy to support. The worst thing about this book was finishing it. I wanted it to go on longer as I loved the plot so much.

Definitely not for me. I was so annoyed after only a few pages but read the first 2 chapters before calling it quits. The main character's fear of driving a certain curve in the road was overdone. Then her expression of relief caused even more problems. Everything about her made me want to tell her to knock off the drama. Nothing about her life made me want to read more.

This was a pretty interesting book with lots of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. Leah finds herself in quite a mess when she hits a deer and knocks on a the nearest door for ask for help. Its there she meets Martin Tate, the "owner" of the house.
But not everything is as it seems there and suddenly she finds herself in the mist of a murder suspense and its something that I have never read the like of before.
This book demands to be read in almost one sitting and trust me you are going to not want to put this book down!

This started out well & thought that the concept of the helpful stranger turning out to be a killer was really good. However, once the body is discovered & the police are involved, the main character keeps making stupid choices. I thought Leah was dull, and really didn't care what happened to her, or anyone else involved in this story.

I read this book in an afternoon. I have to say that I did not really warm to any of the characters but in saying that they probably weren't meant to be that likable. The plot itself kept me turning the pages but I think I was looking for something more complex in both the story and the characters, I found I predicted what was going to happen from two thirds of the book on.. I would have liked to know more about the personality and history of the lead character and what his agenda actually was, I came to the conclusion he was a sociopath that was disgruntled with people in his life of whom he then committed acts of revenge on. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Absolutely chilling from beginning to end. I could not have predicted the storyline- it took me completely by surprise and was full of twists and turns right to the final page! Not for the faint hearted but definitely gripping if you are a fan of thrillers!

Quite a different bad guy, our sociopath in this one and that was the key aspect that made this one for me.

Leah Talbot has an accident, her car colliding into a deer. She knocks on a nearby door, hoping to use the phone. This innocent interaction results in her entering into a game of cat and mouse that will keep you hooked to the end.

Leah is on her way home when she is in an accident. Her car is in a ditch and her phone is dead. She sees a light in front of a house. She decides to go there. The man who answers the door is very helpful. Thank goodness for good neighbors!
I was given this book to read and review by the publisher through Netgalley. I enjoyed this book. It is a quick read. It definitely keeps your attention! Great psychological thriller.

Leah has a car accident one night and knocks on the door of the nearest house for help. Martin Tate invites her in to call the police and a tow truck and there is an instant attraction between the two. The following morning she returns to say thank you, but is instead greeted by the police who are there investigating the brutal murder of the woman who lives there, alone, and Martin is nowhere to be found. However, Martin isn't done with Leah yet, he is determined to explore their connection further... no matter what.

I was so excited to read this but unfortunately, this book was just not for me. I found it to be quite repetitive, I could not connect with Leah in any way, and the police seemed particularly inept.

Having said that, I loved the premise of the book and the fast pace was exactly what I look for in a thriller.

In one of the creepiest ever opening chapters, while driving home on a dark, rainy night, Leah Talbot hits a deer, wrecks her car, then walks to the nearest house for help. The owner, Martin Tate, welcomes Leah and calls the police and AAA for her. He lets her use his phone to call Elliot, her estranged husband. Confused and in shock, Leah lets Martin kiss her.

But Martin Tate is not the owner of the house. The real owner is Alice Booth and she is upstairs, hideously murdered. Leah discovers this the next morning when she stops by to thank Martin for his help and finds herself in the middle of a police investigation. Because she gave him her address so he could pass it on to the police, she could be the next victim. She’s offered police protection and she and Elliot decide to leave their home until there’s an arrest.

That will take a while. Tension mounts, the bodies pile up and Leah makes some poor, but well meaning, decisions. The Good Neighbor, while at times unrealistic, delivers nail biting suspense and a wild conclusion. 4 stars rounded to 5 for that opening!

I read this book in one snowy day. It was fast, thrilling and creepy. I couldn't put it down. After I finished and thought back on what I just read there were many little things that bothered me. Leah for one, not the strong female protagonist that I usually like. She is more of the ditsy girl in the horror movie that you keep yelling at while she makes horrible decisions just to move the plot along. Her cheating husband Elliot is just as unlikable as he is warm one minute and cold the next and is just unreliable. The police in the small town knew there was a killer on the loose and Leah could identify him, yet they let her walk around unescorted with no protection.
The most likeable character was the villain. Even though the reasoning behind his killing spree was glossed over and confusing he did silly things like feel ashamed when he viewed Leah through a frosted bathroom window. He snuck into her house and left a live duck walking around. Hmm. Okay. I guess just to prove his craziness?
Despite these drawbacks I still couldn't look away and just had to finish the book. The killer was the creepiest I have read in a while with his own signature and blazon confidence. If you are looking for a quick thriller and are able to suspend beliefs then this one if for you!

The Good Neighbour promotes itself as a fast paced psychological thriller centering on Leah Talbott, a woman who crosses path with a charming man who is not what he first seems to be.

While I initially had high hopes for this book, I found myself bored for the first 15% of this book, I forced myself to keep reading and then the pace picked up. I think a part of the reason this book wasn't for me was I found the characters to be very dull and not particularly well developed.

Leah was very forgetable character who had very little personality and I couldn't bring myself to feel invested in any of the characters. Towards the end of the book I found the character of Martin Tate to be a rather over-the-top bad guy and his motives seemed rather confused to me. I read this all the way through as I did want to see how their story ended, and sadly it didn't redeem the read.

The Good Neighbour didn't wow me, but I also didn't dislike it - it was okay. I'd pick up another read by this author, as though the characters were rather generic the plot was interesting.

This book didn't have me gripped but it was a decent enough thriller,Leah is on her way home one when she hits a deer in the road,she knocks at the nearest house to get help.Martin Tate answers the door seeming all polite and helpful,but when Leah returns the next morning to thank him she finds Tate missing and the home owner has been murdered,what follows is a game of cat and mouse as Tate chases Leah and starts to issue her with demands that she has to keep for her families sake.It is a well thriller which i would recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre but i wasn't blown away by this book but a decent 4 star thriller.

Addictive, chilling, compelling..... I could go on and on.
This book was such a good read, I devoured it in a couple of sittings. You’ll definitely think twice about knocking at a strangers door.
