I would describe this book as one which is fast paced from the ground running. Leah, the main character was one of those annoying characters where you find yourself screaming "WHY or What are you doing!! But I could see that was with the aim of drawing the reader in, which it did to some extent but also you could feel yourself not caring what happened to her. Ending was OK not particularly surprising but I sometimes feel that this is a tricky thing to do these days. Overall, an enjoyable read.

A unique premise and tense action make this thriller difficult to put down.

What would you do if you found out the house you stopped at for help the night before, was the scene of a gristly murder, and the man who helped you was the murder? What would you do, if that murdered felt a connection with you, and wanted more?

This is what happens to Leah Talbot on a dreary Valentine's Day evening, when she hits a deer and totals her car. Leah is floating through her life, she has a sick father, a marriage that is crumbling and a job that allows her to work from home and isolate herself. When the murderer targets her, she must reengage with the world around her and decide how far she is going to go to save her family and herself.

Wow I couldn’t put this down! Leah Talbot hits a deer on a deserted road wrecking her car, she sees a light on in a nearby house and walks towards it. The charming and handsome, Martin Tate answers the door inviting her in and was very helpful calling a tow truck. Leah drives over to say thanks the next morning, but finds police there - the homeowner is murdered. Now Martin comes after Leah and it becomes a crazy, intense ride! That being said the characters are not well developed as I would have liked, but still a good book to enjoy! Thank you to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

The Good Neighbour sucked me in from the start and had so much promise.
Leah is on her way home when she hits a deer and crashes her car. Shaken up and stranded she spots a house in the distance so goes to see if anyone is home that could help.
It’s there she meets Martin who helps her by allowing her to use his phone and umbrella.
The following day when she returns to the house with a bottle of wine to thank Martin, there’s police at the house, Martin is gone and the female owner of the house is dead. This was where the book started to lose me.
This book was okay.....Leah frustrated the hell out of me. Making one bad decision after another. The middle of the book felt longwinded and the ending was just okay. Nothing about this book shocked and it wasn’t much of a thriller. I thought it was okay but it would be at the top of my recommended list.
Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Good Neighbour is a fast-paced, unputdownable psychological thriller that I had to finished in one-go. The story started off with a bang (literally) and had my full attention all the way to the end. It stands out from other psychological thrillers which tend to create suspense by dragging on the plotline with unnecessary misleads and irrational choices by the main character. The Good Neighbour is none of those things. This is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read in years!

Another mind blowing read by R J Parker.
Leah Talbot hits a deer on a deserted road near her village she spots a light on in a nearby house and approaches, hoping that someone is home.
He is.
Charming, handsome, Martin Tate answers the door to the bedraggled and traumatised Leah, inviting her in. Though she’s not there for long, Leah feels an indescribable pull to the man who has helped in her hour of need.
But when she returns the next morning to say thank you, it isn’t Martin who answers the door this time. It’s the police.
Thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for giving me an advanced copy of this book.

The Good Neighbour by R.J. Parker is just the fast-paced, high energy, and engrossing read that I needed at this busy time of year. You will want to devour this one in a single sitting, so do plan accordingly.

Leah Talbot is on her way home one night when she hits a deer. She is unscathed, but the same cannot be said for either the deer or her car. Approaching the nearest house, Leah rings the doorbell hoping for assistance and is greeted by Martin Tate who seems only too happy to oblige, offering the use of his phone and an umbrella. The two share a few awkward moments, and then Leah is on her way. But when she returns to the house the next day to offer Martin a bottle of wine as thanks for his help, she finds herself at a crime scene where the sole occupant of the home has been found murdered. What follows is a cat and mouse game that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This was a riveting read from beginning to end. The tension and suspense is palpable throughout, and while Leah's actions are, admittedly, cringe-worthy at times, they do not detract in any way from the fun of it all. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC.

This is very quick read and is fast-paced. Because of that though, we don't go too in-depth with the characters. The premise is interesting and I liked the ending.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

While I love a good psychological thriller, I often find books in this genre being with too slow or with a really lame ending. The Good Neighbour by R.J Parker, is neither of these things. Diving right into the action on page 1, this book leads you to never wanting to put it down.I loved the writing style, the short chapters, and the plot as a whole. I could not recommend this book enough.

After hitting a deer with her car, a badly shaken Leah Talbot goes looking for help at a lone house on a deserted stretch of road near her home. Martin Tate answers the door and he couldn’t be more helpful, kind and charming. The next day, drawn by a desire to see Tate again, Leah drives back to his home, noly to have police answer the door. The woman who lives at the residence has been murdered, and Martin is nowhere to be seen. Did Leah interrupt a murder? And Is Martin going to be looking for her to make sure she keeps her mouth shut, for good? This is a dynamite thriller, wholly original and impossible to put down

Not for me. I was drawn in by the cover. I should have researched a little bit about the author because I soon realized I have not been able to get into any books by R.J. I gave up very fast. Nothing to draw me in or keep me there. Tried skimming ahead a few times to farther in the book and still couldn't get into it.

Richard J Parker returns with his latest addictive thriller which is the captivating tale of how a ordinary woman, after innocently knocking on the door of a isolated house finds herself caught up in the twisted mind games of a charming but narcissistic killer.

Leah Talbot's life is not a happy one,her marriage to her husband Elliot in on the rocks and her beloved father's brain and memories are being destroyed by dementia. And now, after a accident involving a wet road and a deer, Leah has found herself being tormented by some sick psycho who keeps killing innocent people and manipulating Leah's movements to ensure that she finds herself at the crime scenes. I really liked Leah, she was a feisty, strong willed, loyal individual who's life was over shadowed by a tragic incident in her past.A tragedy that she was constantly being reminded of due to her father's dementia. It is a really horrible affliction and one that I honestly live in fear of as I get older. The author's depictions of Leah's father's confusion and reactions were very realistic and some of the interactions between the two character's were heart breaking. I can't say that I thought Elliot was a very likeable character for various reasons. And as for the killer omg that guy was seriously creepy, he was so chillingly sinister and manipulative. His attempts to brainwash Leah reminded me of Julie's conversion scene for the iconic tv mini series V. I can definitely say, with absolute certainty that he is my number one bad guy of this year.

I really really love Richard J Parker's brilliant thrillers and The Good Neighbour was no exception. It's extremely well written, hooks the reader in from the first page, keeps you glued to your kindle and frantically turning the pages. Once I started reading it,I couldn't put it down and I read the whole book in one sitting. It's not a twist packed story but the plot does contain a number of unexpected suprises. I would love to watch a film adaptation of one of this talented author's extremely outstanding thrillers. Worth all the stars and more and very very highly recommended.
