I enjoyed reading this novella. It only took under an hour, but it was a packed storyline and well written and even though it was so short it managed to have depth and was really fun to read.

I enjoyed this story. I liked Daniel and Laura and I liked where the story went. I suppose I just kind of wish it was a bit longer. Maybe give us another 100 pages or so and flesh it out a bit more.

Overall I enjoyed the story and Anna's writing style. I'll be looking at what else she has written as well.

Tempted is quite a short story, I read it more or less in one sitting. I think that this is the start of a series and it works quite well in that way, setting up the world in which our characters live. Daniel is the son of a mafia boss, he has not been part of his father's business, building instead a successful real estate business. He is now looking to get more involved. Laura is his new assistant. She needs the money to help pay for her mother's treatment.
This is very short and that would be my main complaint. There isn't a great deal of room for character development or storyline. I think as the start of a series though, it's probably enough. I'll be interested to see how the other books unfold from here.

From reading the synopsis for this book, I expected more. While this book was written well it seems to be more of a short story rather than a full than a full length novel. I enjoyed the plot and the characters were pleasant. It just felt that if this book had been longer, the plot expanded and scenes added, then this book would have felt more complete. The reader needs more of a chance to bond with the characters and the climax was over just as soon as it began.

Overall it was a good read, I just had higher expectations, especially from an author who has obvious talent when it comes to writing.

I really enjoyed this book! The main characters are well developed. The main hero, Daniel, is your typical playboy type, who also happens to be the son of a mob boss. The main heroine is the hard working girl next door type. Opposites definitely attract in this book. The love scenes are steamy and were right up my alley. My only "complaint" would be that I wish there had been more pages to read. Lol.

This was a super quick read that left me wanting more! I really enjoyed the authors writing style and I felt like the book flowed nicely. I was just left wanting more descriptive details. While this was labeled as a Mafia Romance, I felt like the Mafia side of the book was very tame and could have been a little darker. The characters fell for each other a little too quickly for my taste. I don't feel like there was enough hate for this to be an enemies-to-lovers book. It felt more like a forbidden romance trope with a boss/employee relationship. If you are looking for a quick romance read with light steam, this is your go-to book!

This is a short read. Fun at times, but the character relationship development isn’t there. This all takes place within 2-2.5 months and moves really quick. If it were a bit longer and the drama drawn out more with more communication between Daniel and Laura, I think this would be a better rating for the book.

A 2.5 to 3 stars read for me. A short story that seemed promising but at a certain point I completely lost its train of thought. I had the feeling that the story was rolling too fast. The characters weren’t defined and the only thing outlined was this relationship between a billionaire and its assistant. This is my only subjective opinion and if the characters were a bit more developed and the story longer, it could have been really good .

Eeesh. You know when a movie trailer looks awesome but you get to the actual movie and realize everything good was in that three minute trailer? That’s a little what reading this felt like. I think the basic idea for a good story was there, but the way it was written and laid out just wasn’t. I think if this book had been given more time, the characters and their stories given a chance to actually be told, I would feel a lot different. This is one of those books that was just published too soon!

The chemistry between Laura and Daniel is crazy good.. Laura being a woman who puts him in his place and Daniel wanting get into her panties lol....

A refreshing twist on the millionaire/personal assistant trope. With well fleshed out characters the mafia world could have many different storylines to follow. Could be a wild ride. Not sure why this ended so quickly. There really wasn't a plot, just an introduction to the life and characters. Then end. Could have been a great series starter. Very well written but wish it had more.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for an eARC of Tempted for my honest review.

Daniel and Laura's romance moved way too quick for me. Daniel was a frustrating character that never really development. I felt like I was being "told" the story not "showed" the story through imagery or more descriptive scenes/characters. I like the premise but I am thinking short novels are just not for me.

Daniel build his own business from the ground up when he graduated from college. Now, he wants to start dealing with more of his families side the mafia side of business. However, he needs a personal assistant.

I enjoyed this book, it was short and sweet. I think it is a great starting point for the series and I would absolutely love to see where this series goes!

Wow...

"I think I’ve seen enough”—he gave me another once over with a devious grin—“to know you’re the kind of person I want under me. Working under me, I mean.”

That line is from a job interview btw... our hero interviewing our heroine... as you can see we have a winner.

Everytime this guy talked I wanted to barf. I love that Daniel is all Who the hell do this other guy think he is, looking at Laura like a piece of meat or you know exactly how Ive been looking at her since i met her. Hilarious!

Our heroine showed no romantic interest or even lust towards the hero and still this guy was all "shes being nice and friendly to this other guy just to make me jealous" like what? Where did you came up with this idea? But then out of nowhere because honestly there was zero chemistry between our leads she makes a move on him and kisses him... oh okay. So you telling me this guy is an arse since they met and suddenly he does two "nice things" for her and she's like swooned... okay.
This book was nothing of what I excepted in a mafia romance. The Hero was so frustrating and how can someone have a successful business and still be stupid and... didn't you grew up with a mob boss?
I had so many issues with this book I just... didn't enjoyed it at all.

I liked this book but it was just way too short for my liking. Everything happened fast paced and I found myself wanting more. I wanted to see more of Laura and Daniel’s relationship come about. Also more stuff with the mob and Laura’s reaction. Also, there was only one sex scene, which was great don’t get me wrong. I just kept finding myself wanting more

I had to DNF this, the female protagonist was lacking and did not seem remotely interested. The enemies to lovers trope wasn't working for me here...

I'm a sucker for mafia romance. This book was no exception.

Tempted reads really quickly, I honestly wish it was longer but am happy to see it's the first in a series. It contains a lot of flirting, banter, a bit of steam, and some action.

There are also sweet moments, sassy moments and times you may just want to shake a certain character (cough, cough, *Daniel*).

Definitely worth the read if you enjoy dark or mafia romance.

Quick but a disappointing book. It's more of a contemporary romance than a mafia romance. Daniel Marino is a CEO who decided to go into the mafia business (he's a son of the Don but he doesn't really delve into the dark side as he runs his own company) but without a secretary, it's difficult to organize everything and hires Laura Byrne.

These two hit off right away and the insta-connection irks me. It's not even an enemies-to-lovers. The lack of character development is a let down. For a made man, Daniel is too weak for my taste and he's quite dumb. The mafia aspect is just inserted here and truly, there's zero build up. The conflict easily resolved and I find it unbelievable.

This book has a potential. It just needs direction and more research about mafia.

I'm going to be brutally honest - I didn't like this novella at all. The writing was okay-'ish', but the story was cringe-worthy. Both Daniel and Laura's points of view sounded exactly the same and the characters were cookie cutter. The author's narration sounded like the voice over from a cheesy old mob movie from the 30's or 40's. I have read thousands of books in the last few years (all romances) and this one doesn't make the cut. Sorry. My thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me the e-ARC in return for my honest opinion.

A romance between realty businessman Daniel and Laura, who is his new Personal Assistant at the office. The book was pretty fun and I flew through it but it felt rushed and a little abrupt.
