The Grémillet Sisters is one of the graphic novel that I loved after so long.
Three sisters live with their mother, and a cat, in a small town, spending the days working (mother) and playing (the amazing sisters). They are unique: the eldest, Sarah, has strange dreams every night, whereas middle-child Cassiopeia lives in another world entirely and the youngest, Lucille, talks almost exclusively to her cat.
The girls want to do an amazing present for Mother's Day and find a box with their mother's memories. She never speak about her past and this seems strange to the sisters. When Sarah finds a photo of her mother when she was young, immediately connects the tree behind her to a recurring dreams of jellyfish, trees, forests, and her mom’s room. And this is the moment when the "mission" started: discover their mother's truth.
I've liked how the protagonists are uniquely characterised. Opposing personalities amalgamating to form a single being (metaphorically)
The art was, as I expected because Alessandro Barbucci is my favourite Italian illustrator, fantastic, beautiful and great. I just love his style and I am glad that he has a new series.
A very magical story with even more magical illustrations. I fell in love with this comic book from the first page. I loved the characters, cute cats, magical jellyfish, and the mystery. The only minus is that it was just too short. I hope to read more by this author in the future.
I received an e-ARC via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review! Thank you.

Very enjoyable graphic novel. I loved the story. The illustrations were really done well. I hope to read more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley and the author/publisher for giving me a chance to read in exchange for my honest opinion.
I have not read as many graphic novels this year as I usually do, but this was tempting. This is a story of three sisters whose mother goes missing one day.
As they hunt for their mother, the secrets behind the eldest's dream, each shows their own unique characteristics. It is a simple narrative with fantastic illustrations that seemed to leap out of the page. The only strange point was that the severity of the search versus the actual resolution seemed odd. It would probably work better if there were more adventures of the three sisters linked together.
Pick this one up for the brilliant art as well as for sisterly bickering that will seem all the more relatable to anyone who has a sister(s).
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
I totally loved this book. Sisters rediscovering they're mother's long hidden secret! Beautifully written! Thank you Net Galley for the copy.
Sarah's Dream is the first book in the Grémillet Sisters graphic novel series, the script is by Giovanni Di Gregorio and art by Alessandro Barbucci. Being sisters is never easy. But when you’re as different as Sarah, Cassiopeia, and Lucille, it’s even harder! The first is haunted by recurring dreams, the second lives with her head in the clouds, and the last spends most of her time with her cat. Then one day they discover a mysterious photo of their mother pregnant. Where was it taken, and who is the baby? And most importantly, why was this photo hidden away in the depths of the attic? To find out, they’ll have to venture into the tangled forest of the Grémillet family secrets!
Sarah's Dream is a story about family, siblings in particular. I liked the mysterious elements of the dreams of jellyfish. I think the pages really had an ethereal feel and made the story otherworldly. The color work and art style greatly appealed to me, and I enjoyed the art as much as the story. The emotion and mood of each page was well captured, with details that I did not always catch at first glance. The dynamic between the sisters was very real to me, as siblings often have that struggle of love and annoyance going at all times. I will say that the story was not quite what I was expecting. I was really expecting more magic, mythical, or paranormal twist to rise up in the story. The story is well written and drawn, it was just not the story that I expected. That's not always a bad thing, especially when it is well done, as it is here. I was just really in the mood for magical mayhem, and did not get that.
Sarah's Dream is a beautiful graphic novel, both emotionally and artistically.

This graphic novel contains the first volume of a story of three sisters and the mystery surrounding their mom. There wasn't too much of a premise in this beginning portion, perhaps because it seemed so short, but I'm hoping to see more out of it in the future. Each sister had her own distinct personality, which was nice, and the artwork was absolutely beautiful. Would classify this as a middle grade read.
(I received an ARC from Europe Comics, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review! Thanks to both for trusting me with 'The Grémillet Sisters')
What a whimsical, cozy read this was! 'The Grémillet Sisters' is, I have no doubts, one of those stories that I will keep coming back to whenever I need a comfortable, warm, feel-good story to take shelter in. From the dynamic, vibrant art style to the story itself, this was a delightful little story that made me feel as if I were seven years old again, reading Fairy Oak or W.I.T.C.H. and getting lost in a better, more magical world.
In 'The Grémillet Sisters' we meet three siblings, who live with their mother and couldn't be more different: the eldest, Sarah, has strange dreams every night, whereas middle-child Cassiopeia lives in another world entirely and the youngest, Lucille, talks almost exclusively to her cat. (Lucy, I feel you) As the Mother's Day draws closer, the Grémillet girls decide to surprise their mum by putting together a photo album, bursting with memories. But their mother won't talk about her past, so it's up to the sisters to discover what the story of their mum is! Somehow, Sarah can't shake the feeling that it might have to do with the fairylike tree she visits every night in her sleep... And that there is something really big that their mother is keeping from them.
Short though it may be, this is a perfectly satisfying story for both children and grown-ups. As you might be expecting, the Grémillet maman's issue is a delicate one (TW: miscarriage), and yet the story remains perfectly child-friendly. I really enjoyed the careful way in which something as tragic as this was dealt with, and I also really appreciated the balance between adressing this issue with the seriousness and depth it demands, and making it accesible to the youngest readers this book will find. It is something that cannot be explained to children carelessly, and this story did a really good job.
As for the characters themselves, I grew quite fond of the Grémillets! Sarah, the eldest, may be the one I relate to the most, being the older sister myself. Still, Lucille stole my heart as soon as she showed how, not unlike me, she is the 'animals over people' type. She's like a small fairy, and I loved her so much. As for Cassie... She reminds me of my younger sister, so I really wanted to hug her and make her feel understood! Then there's the girls' mum. She's a character I really, really felt for, as preborn lives are something I do not take lightly. Barbucci managed to capture all her grief and her pain with his every line, which is something that few artists can do.
Overall, a sweet tale about a family of girls! Really, really sweet. Can't wait for the next Grémventure!
Sarah is the oldest of three sisters, and she’s always felt responsible for her younger sisters Cassiopeia and Lucille. Sarah has a recurring dream of a large tree holding her mom’s bedroom, with a jellyfish inside. Before she can reach the jellyfish, she always wakes up. While Sarah and her sisters are making a Mother’s Day gift for their mom, they find an old photo of their mom at the base of the tree from Sarah’s dream. They have to enter a hidden forest to learn their mother’s secrets.
I loved the mystical aspects of this story. Sarah has a mysterious dream that is connected to her mother’s past. There was a strange forest that held their mom’s secrets. These mysterious secrets also created some beautiful, mystical images in the illustrations.
This story deals with the death of a newborn at the end. This can be a sensitive subject for some readers. However, it could also introduce the subject of a child’s death to young readers. This story could create a starting point for talking about that difficult subject.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel! I’m looking forward to reading the next one.
Thank you Europe Comics for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was so sweet and cute!
The art reminded me of the W.I.T.C.H. comics I read as a young teen (Turns out the same illustrator, Alessandro Barbucci, has worked on both W.I.T.C.H. and Sarah's Dream. The more you know!).
It's a pretty nice read and deals with family and diferences within said family. There's also a secret involved. And a lot of cats. And cute jellyfish!
I absolutely loved this graphic novel! The art style was just beautiful and I loved the realistic relationship between the three sisters. The feeling of the novel was so lovely and I will definitely be treating myself to a copy of the physical graphic soon!
This was a cute story about 3 sisters who are all very different. It was quick read, and i was happy with the ending. I related to it on a personal level, but won't elaborate in order to not spoil the ending. The artwork was wonderful and i enjoyed it. On the other hand I found it to be quite short and i won't lie i was hoping for more of a story.
Got a copy of this book from NetGalley.
The artwork in it is beautiful. Stunning European cityscapes contrast cozy interiors.
This story is about three (tween-teenage) sisters who share very few things in common, but what does bring them together is their love for each other and their mother. The narrative revolves around a dream-inspired mystery and has many cats. I loved the illustrator’s take on the mother’s fashion taste: simple flowy cardigans and skirts. Themes addressed in this book include family dynamics, family secrets, love for animals, and trauma.
Sometimes, the narrative’s dialogue exchanges did not work for me — they felt a bit contrived. But altogether the artwork makes the reader want to forgive any shortcomings that occur in the story.
3 sisters who love to get to investigate secrets, but because they are sisters, they fight a lot too.
Secrets, love, loss, sadness, lovely characters, I loved the fact that the sisters all had their own character and loved each other dearly but could argue as well.
The illustrations are awesome and gorgeous.
Who will be surprised more when they find the answer of this new secret and investigation?
Go read it.

This was a short and cute graphic novel!
The art style is pretty, though I know some people aren't necessarily fans of the overly large eyes in this type of art style. The nature drawings were particularly beautiful.
For a short comic, I thought the characters were decently developed. They were a bit simplistic, I think partially due to the age range this is targeted towards and partially due to the short length of the comic. I would have liked for it to be a little longer and more developed, but what was there was good.
I think that topics like miscarriage are important for kids to learn about, and delving into them in a comic format like this that also really emphasizes family and sisterhood was a great way to explore it.
✨⭐ 9.5 stars out of 10!!!⭐✨
Aaaaah, I really really like this /chef kiss/

REVIEW
The Gremillet Sisters tells about three energetic sisters who're troubled by weird dreams and trying to uncover their mother's mysterious past. The three little girls are all adorable; Sarah the eldest who's always trying to be the responsible one, Cassiopeia a dreamy but earnest girl, and Lucille the youngest who's a professional cat-tamer.
The artstyle of this comic is wonderful! The coloring is water color-like and the aesthetics are sort of classic-european. Not to mention the details.... It's really really pretty and pleasant to look at. I like every single panel and really really love some of them. And the cover too! I requested this book solely because of the beautiful cover.
The story itself is simple but heartwarming. At first we might expect it's a fantasy story but turns out it's a contemporary family story. I really really like the tender, soft vibes the story is giving.
CONCLUSION
It's a quick read I will recommend to everyone. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free e-copy of this in an exchange of honest review.
When I decided to read this graphic novel, I didn’t really know what to expect. But!!! I’m sooo sooo glad I did pick this up because it was sooo great. Also, the art!!!! It was absolutely gorgeous and vivid and just awesome. And the amount of heart in this just turns me to mush!!!
While it is very short, there’s just more bang for your buck! The story is very well done and I fell in love with the sisters so quickly!! They were just too cute not to adore!! The mystery really grabs you and won’t let go until you find out what’s going to happen.
I also love that this doesn’t have a huge cliffhanger at the end. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone, but I’m obviously waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment!!
Just watch out for that ending. Probably should have tissues nearby... at least I needed tissues... I recommend this one to those who adore heartfelt family stories. And beautiful pictures!! All color!!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Europe Comics for allowing me to read this for my honest and unbiased opinion!!!

The artwork in this book is absolutely stunning, However that is where you my pros end for this novel. The plot and characters were really lacking and ultimately I found myself just appreciating this because of the art instead of the story.
"The Grémillet Sisters" is a fantastic graphic novel. Very well written with beautiful artwork throughout.
