Thank you NetGalley for an ARC for an honest review! I could not put this book down. I loved the main character and I was always guessing on what was going on. I read this book in three days as I found it incredible and had to find out how it ended. Thanks so much!!!!!
This is a great premise for a book. The bombshell is dropped write at the beginning so you will be hooked from the start. Unfortunately, I found the main character difficult to believe. She is a new mother but the baby really seems to take a backseat to her suspicions and obsession around this note. She is very insecure, doesn't know or trust her husband, and spent way too much time in her head. Most of the sentences were in the form of questions she was asking herself about the mystery. However, I definitely wanted to find out what the two mysteries were (as there's a sub-mystery about Laura going on throughout) but I wouldn't say it was a compelling read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Was a good solid book. The writing style was good. Overall a pretty good read.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.
“Your husband is a murderer”
Talk about anyone’s worst nightmare! Laura receives this note right when she returns home from the hospital after giving birth to her son. From then on she spirals trying to figure out who sent it and why.
I loved all the twists and turns this story took. I felt like the author was dangling a carrot in front of my face the entire story. I had to keep reading to figure out who did what! I loved that no one could really be trusted- it kept the reader guessing and guessing. I’d definitely read another Jackie Walsh book. Great thriller! Not creepy but mysterious.
A solid four star read. Good premise. Great characters. Enjoyed the style of writing. Plenty of mystery to keep me interested. I guessed the culprit hence the four star review. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it
It is not the best card to receive on the birth of your son. The card is unsigned, pink balloons embossed, even though the baby was a boy. Five words inscribed, "your husband is a murderer".
No signature on the card anywhere.
That's what was waiting when she got home from the hospital with her newborn son.
After that the secrets just come piling out. Is her husband a murder?
Full of intrigue and twists and turns. Great read!
Laura Caldwell, receives a card on the day she returns home from hospital with her new born- instead of a congratulatory message there's a message which makes her blood run cold. 'Your husband is a murderer.'
Laura cannot believe her husband Conor could be responsible for the death of Vicky Murphy - everyone in that town is devastated! Laura is new to the town and with her new born she has to figure out what exactly happened on the night Vicky Murphy died. She also has her dark past which she is hiding from her husband.
This book was enjoyable, but at some point the heroine fretting over the card she receives is repeated way too many times, and there were no surprising twists - story was predictable and was ok ok.
thanks to netgally for the ARC
I really enjoyed this book. It was full of suspense and very gripping. The Characters were believable and quite interesting too. I would definitely be recommending it.
May contain spoilers: Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC in return for a honest review. Laura is a new mother and relatively new wife to Conor. She met Conor just over a year ago and became pregnant within a few months and then they got married. Laura moved from Dublin to a small village where her husband's brewery employs half the town. The day she comes home from the hospital with their new son she is opening congratulatory cards and gets one that states her husband is a murderer. A town's person Vicky was recently murdered and the killer has not been caught. The book proceeds with Laura trying to be a detective to find out more about her husband and a multitude of other characters such as his ex girlfriend, best friend, and her sister. She finds out her husband's father also died in an accident but he never shared with her the details. There is also a back story of something horrible Laura did in her past that she believes will come out to damage her new perfect life. The story was interesting enough, not too sure on who was found to be the killer. Didn't make a lot of sense to me. Also neither Laura nor her husband seemed to know each other very well and she made a lot of assumptions without talking to him. Overall a quick easy read. I would recommend it.
A great read! The happy family: Conor, Laura and their new baby, Shay, are home and settling in. Yet, within the week, Laura receives a congratulatory card with
a message that both threatens and scares her. Is Conor a murderer?
Confiding in her sister, Amanda, Laura decides to do a little investigating, herself, before confronting Conor. Naturally, the card has disappeared... So, Laura goes into the small, gossipy town to do a little "digging".
The reader wonders if the threat is real - and who would do such a thing? Or maybe this has to do with Laura's life long before she met Conor. At any rate, Shay is at risk, as well, so Laura will do anything to find out the truth.
A very quick and exciting read! Highly Recommend!.
Many Thanks to Hera Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
Five Little Words, I wanted to love this book but I am sad to say it was a DNF. I could not connect with Laura at all. And even felt repulsed by her a few times. I did however like the concept of Laura being a new mom I felt like in that sense a lot of new moms could connect with her. The overwhelmed feeling, tiredness and long nights, When it came to the mystery aspect of the story. I felt it to be a little mediocre. Maybe the card could happen, but I felt the mystery just didn't connect with the story either.
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to review this book for my honest feedback.
I loved it. This book is a work of suspense at its best. Go for it. Characters were good. Narration of the story was ok.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hera for giving me an advance copy.
This one was alright. It was super easy to read and definitely kept me turning the pages. However, the character development was lacking, and the ending was rushed. So a bit of a mixed bag.
Thank you NetGalley, Jackie Walsh and Hera Books for the ARC of Five Little Words. This is my personal review in exchange for this ARC.
Five Little Words is a book that will keep you reading until the last page!
Laura and Conor have just had a son and life seems perfect. Their happy lives are turned upside down when Laura is opening cards from friends and family that had came in the mail. Laura opens one card and the five little words YOU HUSBAND IS A MURDER! She hides the card from Conor only to find it is missing when she looks for it.
The twists and turns will keep you guessing!
Thank you, Jackie Hera for a wonderful mystery book.
magine having a secret that that haunts you day in and day out. That you believe you don’t deserve to be happy.
Laura falls head over heels for a Conor and within a year of meeting she is married and has a son. She feels like this is her time, a second chance at happiness. Upon their homecoming with their son, Shay, there is people there to welcome them. Cards and gifts waiting for her. She opens one card, with the five words that would set Laura on path to find out if there is any truth to them.
“You’re husband is a murderer”.
Laura feels this is her karma for what she had done in her past, but Conor has secrets of his own too.
I was pulled in from the get go. I would sneak to read any opportunity I had! I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend to anyone who likes domestic/ psychological thrillers. It had me guessing til the end.
Predictable and not a new story. I have read this kind of a story before with similar conflicts just with different names. I was underwhelmed and figured out the big twist half way through, Disappointed.
Cannot say I recommend this but other people may like it.
1 star for the cover
1 star for the premise

Five Little Words will have you turning the pages quickly.
Laura who has her own back story, receives a card stating your husband is a murderer.
Now she looks suspiciously at her new husband and wonders is she made a mistake marrying Connor so quickly and jumping into a life of luxury.
I love that it takes place in a small town where everyone knows everybody.
I wanted to shake Laura a few times but I stood by her.
I changed my mind several times on who the culprit would be.
Thought I knew but I was wrong.
A great way to spend some time getting lost in Five Little Words.
I am off to check out Jackie Walsh's other books.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for a great read .
Five Little Words by Jackie Walsh is a compulsively addictive read that pulled me in from the very start, and did not let go until the final page.
Laura Caldwell has never been happier, living the life of her dreams with husband Conor. Having just given birth to the couple's first child, son Shay, life could not be more perfect. The bubble of bliss quickly bursts, however, when Laura receives an anonymous card. Instead of the anticipted message of congratulations, this one contains a far more sinister message consisting of five little words; Your husband is a murderer. With the unsolved case of murdered local woman Vicky Murphy very much the talk of the village, Laura's world is suddenly turned upside down as she begins to question everything she thought she knew about her beloved husband. And it seems that Laura is not without some secrets of her own.
This is a thoroughly compelling mystery that had me fully invested in discovering who, in fact, killed Vicky Murphy. Another wonderful read from Ms Walsh, I cannot wait to see where she takes us next. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for this ARC.
This book will keep you guessing till the very end! I loved every page in it. So many secrets and hidden agendas in such a small town.
For some reason I cannot connect with this book and have had to DNF at 50% . When I read the blurb on netgalley I was really intrigued and interested in reading this for the thriller part In the story but I’m just not getting this feeling, I can’t connect with the character or plot and I don’t believe this is the authors fault I just don’t think it’s been the right choice for me.
Although they are interesting elements in the story that have kept me reading up until 50% I just can’t connect and keep interested , the writing style is good and does have an intriguing element but for it just isn’t for me.
Although this book wasn’t for me I’m still very interested in the Authors other books.
I want to thank netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book, also the publisher and author. This does not affect my review and my opinions are my own thoughts.
