[Received the arc for an honest review! Thank you, Lion Forge and Netgalley!]

This was a great read. I really like how comics are diversifying their cast and adding a lot more POCs - and as a Latina, I appreciate that a LOT. Representation matters.
The writing is solid and the story, although feels like a little bit of the "same old, new clothes", it just has that added flavor of the classism and the divide between the rich and the poor makes the story enjoyable. Plus, MC going along with his parents always a plus!

The art was lovely!

The only grip I have is with the name, so difficult for non-native English speakers to say with ease.

This was a solid 3 star read for me.

I enjoyed reading this, and the "superhero" aspects of the story. I'm hoping to get my hands on Vol. 2 to see how the story continues.

"Quincredible Vol. 1" is an exciting and action-packed graphic novel that introduces us to a new superhero who is unlike any we've seen before. The story follows Quinton West, a teenager from New Orleans who gains superpowers after a mysterious accident. With his newfound abilities, he becomes Quincredible, a superhero who uses his powers to protect his city from villains and other threats.

What I loved about this graphic novel is how it tackles issues of identity and representation in a fresh and engaging way. Quin is a black teenager who comes from a lower-income background, and the story doesn't shy away from exploring the challenges he faces because of this. It's refreshing to see a superhero who isn't a wealthy white male, and the story does a great job of showcasing Quin's unique perspective and experiences.

The artwork in this graphic novel is also fantastic, with dynamic action sequences and vivid colors that bring the story to life. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, and I would have liked to see more character development for some of the supporting cast. However, overall, "Quincredible Vol. 1" is a fantastic debut that sets the stage for a promising new superhero series.

If you're a fan of superhero comics and looking for a fresh and diverse new series to dive into, I highly recommend "Quincredible Vol. 1." It's a fun and exciting read that will leave you wanting more. 4/5 stars.

I haven't read a superhero comic in a while, but this one is GREAT! Very classic young-hero-coming-into-his-powers storyline, and I loved that Quin's parents were still alive and supportive. I'm not sure that the cops/superheroes parallel was fully fleshed out in this volume (the whole point of superheroes is that they operate OUTSIDE of the corrupt system, I think?) but I would give this series the benefit of the doubt to develop the thought further in later volumes. Fantastic art. Definitely a series to keep an eye on and hand to the young superhero fans in your life!

I enjoyed this and will continue to look out for upcoming volumes. I did feel like the villian was a villian, just to be a villian (if that makes sense?) However, I really enjoyed how Quin had to learn to come to terms with his powers, that he wasn't just instantly amazing and able to use them etc etc.

3.5/5* but would round up to 4.

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. I'll hopefully try again in the future.

This was a cool graphic novel featuring Quin with a super power- Invulnerability- basically no matter what he won't get hurt and Quin is really not impressed with that!

I found this to be your standard superhero story that seemed to be setting up for a big universe. The main character seemed to get powers very similarly to Ms. Marvel, and didn't feel very unique in terms of plot structure. Although, I did like all the character designs, and the art style is a lot smoother and nicer to see than most Marvel comics.

I quite liked how real it felt, a lot of other superhero stories tend to have some grand, almost mythical storyline but Quincredible related to it current crisis' happening to people in the real world, and focuses a lot more on people who had pretty normal lives before they became superheroes.

What a fresh take on superheroes! I really liked the art style. The story was a little flat for me but I'm super curious about future volumes and Quinn's journey! This is definitely a story I'll be recommending to any teens in my life looking for comic recs.

The art in this story is engaging yet the story falls flat. I appreciate the new superhero universe the author is creating and may check out further stories.

I so enjoyed this beautiful graphic novel about young Black teen navigating his life after finding himself with superpowers, exactly like the superhero’s he admires.

But this is more than just a superhero novel - it deals with sensitive topics like, racism, white supremacy, police brutality and political issues- in a way that is incredibly refreshing!

The artwork is gorgeous and so wonderfully compliments the plot, that it made sure I actually read through the book in one single sitting!

Definitely worth picking up if superheroes in relevant times is one of your interests!

I'm still pretty new to reading graphic novels, but I absolutely LOVED this one! It reminded me a bit of Ms Marvel. It was a quick read, and I'm excited to find out more about this superhero universe as I really lovd Quin as a character!

Thank you NetGalley and the author for an eARC of this book, in exchange of a honest review.

Quin is a very relatable character, and I liked the premise of how they got their powers. The conflict was very relevant to problems in today's world, so I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the story, if not Quin directly. I'm looking forward to reading more of his story!

An interesting, original story with unique and appealing art. I'm hoping this will do well with our teens.

A superhero story rooted in community and unity. Small acts of heroics can accumulate into large achievements!

After a meteor shower falls over parts of New Orleans, communities are left with the damage and in some cases superpowers. Quin has kept his gift of invincibility a secret from his parents and peers for months without being discovered. Quin doesn't find much use for his gift aside from being a frequent target from the neighborhood street boys. However, after a run-in with the police at a rally, Quin's gift is spotted by another superhero and some of the neighborhood bullies. Now Quin must decide how to use his gift to help the other superhero and protect his community.

Quin is a great character with a simple origin story rooted in family and caring for a community ignored by the well-off. The plot moves quickly and maintains a familiar cast of characters. The illustrations capture the dynamic action and intense emotions between scenes. The colors are vibrant and the detail leaves a lot for readers to take in. The dialogue is spread out across the panels with no heavy text. The dialogue between characters is insightful and witty. I liked the variety of black superheroes from different faiths and lifestyles. It gives readers a realistic glimpse of the many communities in New Orleans. The plot draws on current themes of racial inequalities and oppression. The themes are well addressed and not heavy-handed.

I would readily recommend this to superhero fans and readers interested in contemporary themes.

Fans of Marvel comics and superhero fiction will be delighted to read this! "Quincredible", by R. Barnes, follows the story of a young man called Quin, who used to be your typical high school boy... Until a meteor shower changed his life forever. Now Quin has the power of invulnerability, and... And that's it. You're probably thinking the same as Quin now: that's it!? How, exactly, is that helpful for a boy like him, targeted by bullies and unable to stand up for himself!? The only point these new powers appear to have is that the punches and kicks won't hurt as much.

That is, until Quin meets a superhero who got their powers in a similarly odd way. Now his dream to become a superhero, like the other Enhanced people on TV shows and magazines, looks realer than he'd ever dreamed of. Still, being a superhero isn't as easy as having powers and good intentions. When everything in your life is crumbling down, what does it take to be a saviour for others?

This GN was a gust of fresh air. The world of comics is still really lacking in terms of diversity, and having a story with mostly Black main characters was simply amazing. Quin himself was a super huggable character, I couldn't help loving! Even though he's had more than enough with the bullies, and stands up for himself, he's still kind and has a good heart. He's the kind of superhero I would've loved to have on my shelf and onscreen when I grew up, and I really do hope to read more about his adventures soon!

In terms of art, Quinncredible has a total of zero things to envy from lifelong Marvel and DC artists. I often found myself forgetting to keep reading, because I was mesmerized by the detail Selina Espiritu put in every single line. The colours were vibrant, and reading a comic this masterfully done really felt like watching an incredible film with the best special effects you could imagine! Here's to many more Quinncredible stories!

Quincredible Vol.1 had gorgeous artwork and a great premise, both of which made me excited to read it. However, as I started reading, I found the pace to be a little slow and I had a hard time getting into the story. I did, however, really love the characters and the premise, I just don't think this book was for me, sadly.
