This book is a fresh and interesting read, which is so current that it responds to the issues that might begin to develop due to lockdown and isolation.

It is written in a way which makes a complete novice (like me) able to follow the underlying concepts of anxiety and other issues and how best to approach them. I think this would be a helpful read for parents, teachers and therapists alike. The book is very practical as it describes issues and behaviours, uses case studies to validate the explanation and also has suggested examples of strategies that you can try to help children who are struggling.

I like the practical nature of the techniques and they are clearly broken down into stages to instruct you how best to deliver them and what your expectations might be of the child's response.

The book is clearly underpinned by a wide range of research and practical experience. I like that the explanations are simple and easy to follow and i feel better equipped to approach difficulties with my own children in a way that will help the situation rather than inflame it. Using 'clean language' seems so obvious but in the heat of the moment it is easy to respond in a way that is not helpful.

We will definitely try some of the techniques at home that have been recommended in this book, and I expect they will be helpful at work.
