This wasn't my usual read but I did enjoy it. Thanks for the chance to read a different genre. I'll look for book 2.
This is such a sweet little story!! I love the art and the little misunderstanding, which is rare because I don't like misunderstanding, lol. I am glad that it isn't something long term though. I'm excited to see where these two go in book 2!
"Whisper Me a Love Song 1" by Eku Takeshima introduces readers to a heartwarming and charming manga series that explores the complexities of teenage romance. With delicate and expressive art, Takeshima weaves a tale of budding emotions, friendship, and the challenges of navigating love during adolescence.
The story follows the unlikely connection between two high school girls, demonstrating the beauty of discovering feelings that transcend societal norms. Takeshima's artistry brings the characters to life, capturing the subtleties of their emotions and the tender moments that define their burgeoning relationship.
"Whisper Me a Love Song 1" is a delightful start to a series that promises to enchant readers with its touching narrative and beautifully illustrated scenes. Whether you're a fan of romance or simply enjoy heartwarming stories of self-discovery, this manga is sure to leave you eagerly anticipating the next chapter.
An adorably sweet story about mixed up communication and (possibly) unrequited, or maybe requited love between two high school girls. I appreciate that there isn't a ton of fan service, and the girls relationship is taken as completely normal by the other characters in the book. It's sometimes hard to find positive LGBT representation in manga given the cultural context.
Really cute! I really enjoyed the misunderstanding plot line, the characters and the art. Will definitely continue the series. 4.5/5!
The central conceit (they mean different things by love at first sight!) is a bit thin, but the art is engaging, the characters are really sweet, and the story is full of the overwhelming emotions of high school. A good beginning to a series.
I really enjoyed this volume and cannot wait to continue the series. The characters are lovable and t try he storyline is pretty compelling. This is a great manga to pick up as an introduction to yuri.
Being it only the first volume of this story, it was a cute begining. There's still so much to know about the characters and space for them to develop, but I really liked to see this type of story from a majority female cast.
Beautiful art! Cute story even though the love at first sight trope is not my fave.
Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the advanced e-reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Beautifully done, honestly. The art is fantastic, it's a quick read that draws you in quickly, and I adore the characters and their polar opposites. I certainly advise you to pick it up!
Precious. So very precious. A good Yuri/lesbian story unfolding. I can see myself getting cozy and reading this.
Cute but not really outstanding -- I'm not a big fan of "love at first sight" plots. The first volume ends without resolving the romantic tension, just FYI.
Whisper Me a Love Song is an adorable story between first-year Himari and Yori, an older student and singer. I freaking love the two main characters. They're both so sweet and adorable. I love Himari's innocence and sense of wonder. She doesn't fully grasp the nuances of relationships, but it seems she's slowly catching up. Yori is older and knows herself a little bit more. From the way the story is told, it looks like Yori has already sorta figured out her sexuality.
I'm pretty pleased with the fact that when Yori announced to her group of friends she might be in love with Himari, none of them acted shocked as it's usually the case in queer mangas. They didn't even question her about it. Yay for normalizing queer relationships!
The art was really pretty and the storytelling kept me engaged. It rarely happens when I read mangas, but I didn't want this volume to end! I'll definitely read the second volume as soon as I can get my hands on it!
Honestly beautifully made. The art is wonderful, it was an easy read, hooks you in so quick and easy, I definitely love the characters and just the opposites of the two. I definitely recommend picking this one up!
Being honest here, I don't usually read shoujo ai manga that often because if I am in the mood, I'd rather read shounen ai. But sometimes, just sometimes, I am very pleasantly surprised. Whisper Me a Love Song does not have any complicated plot. It's a story about two high school girls who meet thanks to the music and "get in love" with each other. Problem? They both mean the different thing.
Storywise, nothing much happens in the first volume, it's mostly introductions. We get to meet our two MCs and their close friends. Bubbly and cheerful Himari who happens to fall in love with her senpai's, Yori's, singing. and Yori, who likes to sing in private and has this cool vibe. Quite opposites, right? I am not usually a big fan of bubbly characters but I had no problem with Himari. She was just being a cutie. Same with Yori. One big thumbs up for Yori's friends, they were the bes'
Art was clean and nice to look at. All the girls have really cute designs and I really loved coloured pages. Romancewise, we have yet to see where the story takes us but I appreciate different take that author decided to take - that "I fell in love with you" can mean different things to different people.
I can't wait to continune with the series because tbh, it's just nice and fluffy. You need this.
This book was absolutely adorable. Sweet story about a younger girl who falls for an upper classmen through music, leading to endless confusion about which the younger girl loves - the music, or the one playing it.
Just the relaxation I needed.
I received a free copy from Netgalley for a review, but I purchased it for myself after reading it.
This manga is about Himari, a high schooler who sees Yori playing in a band on the first day of school and immediately falls in love with her. It turns out, they both like each other. Pretty soon though, we realize they might have different meanings for the word "love". I am addicted to this story. The characters are so cute, just what you expect from this type of manga. The artwork is gorgeous, and the plot is funny and sweet so far. I can't wait to read volume 2.
This book was absolutely fantastic. I've already added it to our library collection and will recommend it to students.
This manga centers around high schooler Himari, who sees her senpai, Yori, play in a band on the first day of school and immediately falls in love with her. Himari confesses her love to Yori who surprisingly confesses as well! It's soon pretty apparent though that the two girls have a vast difference on what love means.
I loved the whole thing. The girls are very adorable and all the characters are great (so far). The first volume was very fluffy and cute but I'm curious so see where it goes. After reading a lot of GL and yuri manga, it kind of gets formulaic after awhile. So I'm hoping that this manga will surprise me and go in a different direction. Honestly, even if it's just a regular yuri manga, I'll probably still read it. I like it that much that I'll continue.
I loved the premise of this manga. It's promising. Art style is also adorable. Cute, fluffy and sweet. Perfect read to lighten you mood. And yes it ends with a cliffhanger. Oh gosh! I badly want volume 2 asap
