This was a cute read! Characters and art are great. The sapphic romance isn't bad either. What's preventing me from rating it more is the author sort of suffering with sam face syndrome and the fact that i wasn't fully invested in the mang

ACK! This was so cute I can't stand it! The art was gorgeous and the characters were adorable! The tone is so light and sweet dfjhafsdkjhasdfkjh! It reminds me of a more romance focused K-ON since it revolves around music and performing. The slice of life aspects of the story is really fun and really relaxing. Although the cliff hanger at the end of the volume made me want to throw my lap top OTL How can it end like that? I'm so upset! I can't believe I need to wait for it.
The miscommunication and unrequited love aspects of the story were a bit frustrating but the characters were cute and dumb enough that it was endearing instead of annoying. Overall Whisper Me a Love Song is heartwarming and adorable! It was an absolute delight to read and I recommend it wholeheartedly!

I found it rather dull - I’m sorry! It lacks enough charm to seduce me. Which is unfortunate as I love reading manga

This was okay. I am all about the plot of this one, and it was fine. The execution just wasn’t as...something as I thought it would be, and I didn’t like the protagonist as much which lead to me being less interested.

I was worried at first that this manga would go to the cheesy side, but, while it is adorable, it is also really funny, and had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions.

A cutesy lgbtq manga that gives butterflies in the most ridiculous ways. The cat references were the best & there’s little bits in here that make you wanna know the characters a bit deeper.

I got an ARC of this book.
This book is so cute. From the meet-cute to the last page, I was giggling and amused.
The characters were very much first vol manga flat. They were young, excitable cute girl and older, cool girl. They started to get fleshed out more as the volume went on, but like a lot of manga, the story is meant to be told over many volumes so the full character is not shown yet. It didn’t hinder my ability to want the two together and it didn’t hinder me loving the manga. I am hoping that the depth will grow.
A lot of the f/f manga that I have read that have an age gap tend to be dubious on consent and have a more forceful character. This is far from that. The characters are both really adorable and nervous. They both get excited. It read as a more equal dating situation and I enjoyed that a lot. It felt cute. There were no fan service shots or anything else that would oversexualize the teens. It allowed the romance to grow more slowly while they got to know each other.
This is the sort of love at first sight that I love. They had a reaction to each other, but they are taking the time to get to know each other before they settle down forever. They go on cute dates. They talk. It was wonderful to see just how cute they were and how they both worried about what the other meant when they said they loved each other at first sight (especially after one of them made a further move and I was like DAMNIT JUST SAY YES, there was a bit of “oops, what if we mean different things, can’t get too excited now”). It felt real and sweet.
Overall, this was a very sweet and wholesome love at first sight story. I liked it.

Such a sweet first volume. Both main characters are unique and enjoyable. Super interested to see where the series will go from here.

It's my first time getting an ARC of manga, even though I've read so many mangas before. Seeing cute lesbians on the cover absolutely had me.
First thing I noticed when I opened Whisper Me a Love Song was the lovely, detailed and so, so sparkly graphics. The characters are adorable and the shojo style is immaculate. This is absolutely a feast for the eyes.
Plot-wise, I gotta be honest - if you've read one shojo high school romance manga, you've read them all. If you liked it, you've read at least 20 and absolutely don't mind reading 21st so what should I even explain? Whisper Me a Love Song is exactly the type of cute teenage first love hijinks that you expect and love to see in a manga of this type. It's nothing exceptional but it's adorable and heart-warming, like good comfort food.
While Kino was pretty much that energetic, clueless lesbian (or pseudo lesbian, looking at all those idols anime) protagonist, I've found myself liking Yori much more than a typical love interest. She still fits the dark-haired cool stereotype but she isn't the one to deny her feelings and ends up being the one pursuing the romantic relationship. Plus, under that cool sempai vibe, she was also absolutely soft and adorable. And she loves cats.
What I liked a lot was seeing the girls bond over their mutual interests and build an actual friendship that isn't only based on attraction. I feel like in a lot of romance, not just manga and graphic novels, the characters have nothing in common besides their attraction and I really don't like that.
All in all, I will absolutely keep an eye on the series and recommend it to my friends, as the ending teased that we will see more from side characters and they do seem interesting.

Super cute! I liked getting to look at the initial events from both perspectives, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

I really enjoyed the premise of this yuri manga. The love interests have a major misunderstanding that was really adorable, though it left both girls wondering, does she or does she not?
I like that the plot revolves around music. I found it appealing that one of the main characters is a singer, and I love her personality. She's talented and adored by her fans, but she's shy. Her crush is a fairly generic cute-girl type, but I enjoyed the story anyway and am eager to read about how their feelings grow.
The art in this manga is beautiful. I can't wait for more!

If you still haven’t read a Yuri—the Japanese term used in manga and anime to describe romantic relationships between women—this would really make for a nice start.
Imagine someone professing their love for you, and you suddenly realise that you feel the same way. But what happens if you find that maybe you are giving the word ‘love’ two different meanings? That’s how Himari and Yori start their heart-warming journey, one that drags readers in from page one. Whisper Me a Love Song immediately catches your eye with a truly gorgeous artwork, and then it completely absorbs your attention with a story that isn’t just sweet, but also amusing. The misunderstandings provoke lots of laughs throughout the read, and it’s hard not to giggle even after the last chapter. Indeed, the bonus scenes at the end are full of hilarious moments filled with extra cuteness. Oh, the cuteness!
Adorable and funny, the perfect combo that never fails to reach our hearts . . . Have you ever fallen in love at first sight? You might when you put your hands on this manga!

This was such a cute book. I enjoyed Yuri's pov so much. She is so funny and lovable. Cant wait to read the other books. Can't wait to talk about this on my channel

This was the fluffiest fluff. So darn adorable. I've been getting a bit more into Manga of late, thanks to my kiddo and this little gem happens to be my first Yuri read. And I loved it. Himari is a total fangirl for Yori who sings in a high school band, meanwhile, Yori is completely smitten by Himari. it's a love at first sight girl-love-girl cotton candy treat you can devour in 30 minutes or less.

Yori (a third year) sings with a band on the first day of school. Himari (a first year) hears her sing and "falls in love at first sight", except not in the way Yori thinks she means. When Himari manages to speak to Yori at the end of the day, she can't wait to tell her how she feels, but this just leaves Yori confused. Yori begins to develop real feelings for Himari, while Himari is just in love with Yori's singing and overall coolness. Himari doesn't realize how Yori feels about her. What will happen after Yori admits her true feelings for Himari?

This was a super cute manga about two girls mistaking what love at first sight means to them. The artwork was really wonderful, I especially loved the few color pages. I really appreciated the notes in the back that explain certain aspects of Japanese culture (ie the use of senpai, how the school year runs, etc).

Super cute manga story, first of 4 (so far) volumes, lovely story of a girl taken to see her friend's sister's all girl band where she falls in love at first sight with the lead singer. They meet again at school the next day and the story progresses from there. Great illustrations, delightful read.

What a supper cute, humorous manga! Typically I don’t read a lot of fluffy manga, but in some case it really works well and this is one of those books. I adored the characters, their personalities are so memorable and easy to fall in love with. Even the side characters fit the perfect story. I’m truly surprised I haven’t heard of this manga series sooner, but I’m super excited to continue this series and watch these characters fall in love with one another.
🎶 Himari Kino – Is a cheerful, very loving first-year in high school, who ends up falling in love at first sight on her first day at school, during the open live performance from SSGirls. With her best friend Miki-chan besides her and being in the front row, when she’s suppose to check out Miki’s sister, Himari can’t help being swept off her feet by the cool singer of the band.
🎶 Yori Asanagi – Is a a cool, lone wolf third-year high schooler, who loves to sing and write their own in their personal time, ends up filling in for the singer of SSGirls. With the members of SSGirls begging Yori to write them songs and join their band, Yori refuses due to severe stage fright, until they meet Himari. Soon, their world changes and be a little head over heels.
Though these two are new to love, we follow their story after they confessed their feelings to one another, as they get to know each other, chat about their love for cats, and become more entranced with one another. There’s just one problem… They both have a hard time believing the other is really in love with them and keep misunderstanding one another’s words.
“I’m going to make you fall in love so hard. So you better brace yourself.”
I really loved the personality of both main characters. Yori is calm and collected, but easily gets embarrassed and has a deep love for cats. Himari is very energetic and has a very bubbly personality. When the two come together, they balanced each other out really well and have great chemistry. I also love how Yori never gets over-shadowed by Himari’s personality, as well. Himari is very much the instigator, Yori always speaks for herself, allowing both of them to be on equal footing. The process in which they grow closer is also super adorable and they have an amazing supporting cast with the side characters. I would have loved to see more of Miki-chan have a role in helping out, but the band is really fun and supportive of Yori.
This is very much a feel good story. It’s meant to be light, fluffy, and the music angle was such a good hook to make Yori stand out. There’s a lot of really cute moments throughout this book and the way Himari is so encouraging is refreshing. The way this manga leaves off, there’s bound to be drama on the horizon especially from the trope that’s being used in this book. However, I think the one issue many readers will have with this book is the clashing of two elements. You have the ‘love at first sight’ trope and then you have the ‘two people not being on the same page’ element added in. Sometimes it can feel like a bit much and I think many readers may struggle with that balance.
Overall, this was really enjoyable. I was chuckling and smiling the whole time reading this. I think the manga does an excellent job at being a feel good read. I think if readers are looking for something fluffy, charming, and just a read that’s going to leave you happy. Plus, the way this manga ends will leave you wanting to know what’s about to happen next with these characters!

This manga is beautiful! The blurb refers to Bloom Into You, which is only the best written yuri, lgbtqia+ manga ever, so I knew I had to read this one.
Our story starts simple, Himari is starting a new school and on her first day she and her friend go to the concert that is held by an upperclassman. At first sight she falls for the vocalist and keeps praising her voice to her friend. Before the school day is over she accidentally bumps into this girl in the hallway and Himari, blurting out whatever comes to her mind immediately tells her that she fell in love. The upperclassman, Yori, confused but definetely flattered tells about this to her classmates. As her classmates tease Yori whether the girl is her type she starts to let herself think about dating Himari. Himari doesn’t waste too much time either, she learns that Yori is often practicing her singing on the rooftop so she coaxes her into letting her join and listen. As Yori confesses she also fell for Himari at first sight, she realizes Himari fell in love.. with her perfomance, not her per say. She decides this is fine as well and vows to make Himari actually fall for her. As the two navigate this volume and grow closer, the misunderstanding between them clears up slowly and their true feelings come to light.
This was a funny and cute first volume. It was funny how oblivious Himari was, especially of her own confession. And how she managed to confuse literally everyone around her. I am glad though that the misunderstanding was cleared and I cannot wait for the next volume where they work things out between themselves. It was adorable to see these two grow closer and fangirl about cats. I hope for a quicker pace in the next volume, now that things are out in the open. Recommended for anyone who likes to read a sweet, slow paced romance.

Sometimes, you want a manga that is simple and sweet to read, as though you are eating a piece of candy. The first volume of the new yuri series, Whisper Me a Love Song by Eku Takeshima, is just that. Mind you, “simple” is far from an insult. The series doesn’t need a complicated plot when the rom-com antics are so endearing. Whisper Me a Love Song Volume 1 is published in English by Kodansha USA. It is translated by Kevin Steinbach and lettered by Jennifer Skarupa.
First-year high school student Himari is excited to begin a new year. Her childhood friend’s older sister is in a band, and they are performing after the entrance ceremony. To support her friend’s sister, she goes to watch up close. What Himari doesn’t expect is to fall in love with third-year Yori’s singing at the same time. Upon running into Yori later that day, Himari excitedly exclaims that she “fell in love at first sight,” awakening unexpected feelings. Through a series of miscommunications, Yori and Himari stumble through a newfound friendship and the possibility of something more.
Whisper Me a Love Song Volume 1 is a fun high school yuri for a variety of reasons. For one, it kicks off with the “love confession” from the get-go, with Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 respectively showing Himari and Yori’s individual perspectives. The misunderstanding of “love at first sight” is sweet, especially in the case of Himari. This is because, for Yori, her friends, and the readers, it isn’t certain what Himari’s feelings are. Himari and Yori’s age difference is portrayed perfectly here, with poor Yori suffering for it.
The miscommunication comedy is never mean-spirited. If anything, it feels like a rom-com exaggeration of what many queer kids likely go through in high school. The girls dance around language, not wanting to scare the other off or assume anything. Yori and Himari’s friends are fun and distinct characters as well. Aki knew that Himari meant she loved Yori’s singing voice but didn’t tell her. That felt rather cruel and wasn’t a great introduction to her character. However, later scenes seem to make up for this. There is also a reveal that shows there is more to Aki than the bubbly friend we see.
The art leans into the exaggerated rom-com antics as well. Himari is practically a puppy in how she follows Yori around. Takeshima even draws her with dog-ears at certain points in the manga. An illustration of an arrow piercing Yori’s heart when Himari smiles, even the big bubble letter work by Skarupa, all adds to this.
Whisper Me a Love Song Volume 1 is a fun start to a series about two girls learning to express themselves. It takes a fun twist on the high school rom-com and plays into the different meanings behind words. Himari can be a bit cartoonish, but the manga is aware of this. If readers are looking for something that will make them smile from cover to cover, this is a good pick.
