The Therapist by B A Paris is a very clever psychological thriller, which was most enjoyable to read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well written and likeable and the storyline was well crafted and interesting.
Highly recommended.

I have enjoyed all the books I have read by BA Paris. This was no exception, it kept me gripped to the end.
The worst thing about reading her books is finishing them and having to wait for the next one to be written.

The storyline of this book kept me guessing with so many twists.
Loved it

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

There's one thing I'm always sure of when I read a B. A. Paris novel - I'm going to be kept right on the edge of my seat!

Alice and Leo are finally moving in together; not just in any old house, but a gated community of exclusive homes in London. It's everything they could want but as Alice gets to know her new neighbours she discovers that a grisly crime took place there, and she can't leave it alone. She needs to know more and begins to feel a connection to Nina, the murdered woman who lived in her home before her. But no-one will tell her what she wants to know and she's quite sure that they know more than they're letting on.

This one kept me reading not only into the night, but well into the early hours of the morning - I just couldn't put it down. I HAD to know what was going on and it was like reading a riddle; each time I thought I had worked out who was guilty I was proved wrong but NEVER did I suspect the actual culprit! I felt as if I had gone through the wars with this one and was quite worn out by the final page - mind you, it was almost 3 a.m. A thoroughly satisfying read and one which, I suspect, will cement this author's place at the top of the tree. A heart-pounding novel which had me quite scared at time and made me very glad to have my sleeping husband withing touching distance. Definitely worth all five sparkling stars and the very highest recommendation.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

I have given this book three stars as it is not as good as other books by this author. It seemed long and drawn out. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters which made it hard to keep reading in places.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy.

And she does it again!!!

After reading previous B.A Paris thrillers I couldn't wait to get stuck into this one and I wasnt disappointed. I must admit this is the first one I've read that left me completely flummoxed (I love that word) and not having a clue what the ending would bring.

I felt that I was actually living Alice's life, second guessing everything and everyone. A gated community, close guarded relationships and secrets galore... what the hell was going on?

The only negative I have is that I found the middle part quite long winded and it seemed to drag for me but that's a very small negative!

The characters are brilliantly written and executed and all plausible and interesting. The storyline in the most part is well paced and compelling and the ending has a unexpected twist that brings everything together fantastically.

Highly recommend!

Huge thanks to netgalley and HQ for the ARC.

I’d like to thank HQ and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Therapist’ by B A Paris in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Alice and Leo have decided to live together and move into No. 6 The Circle, a horseshoe-shaped road in an exclusive gated community in Finsbury Park, London. Alice learns that therapist Nina Maxwell died in their house and her husband Oliver who was charged with her murder killed himself soon after being arrested. Alice feels uneasy in the house, she thinks someone is coming into their bedroom during the night, and in Leo’s absence decides to help private investigator Thomas Grainger discover the truth about what happened to Nina.

After reading B A Paris’ previous thrillers I’ve been looking forward to reading ‘The Therapist’. It’s a well-written psychological thriller with a promising beginning, interesting characters and a chilling plot, but I thought the middle of the story was long-winded and dragged somewhat. But the ending more than compensated for it though with a very exciting and gripping conclusion and a huge twist that I hadn’t expected.

Well I was completely flummoxed by this book. I had no clue what to think and was utterly shock when the truth was revealed.

I suspect though that starting a book where Alice and Leo think someone has come into their new house at night, but not causing anything more than an unsettling feeling, when I was in bed late at night may not have been my smartest idea, as I didn't get the best nights sleep on the back of reading the first few chapters.

The Circle is a gated community of 12 houses, and Alice and Leo have moved into, and Alice is keen to make friends with her new neighbours whereas Leo doesn't seem as bothered. I'm not sure why but every time The Circle was mentioned I had pictures of the addictive Channel 4 programme of the same name in my head, and in fairness that is a similarly claustrophobic circle!

I found I was second guessing everything, I wasn't sure who to trust apart from Alice, who is our main character and I was happy to believe everything she was saying. Like Alice I would have also freaked out had I discovered that the previous owner of the house had been murdered in the house, although whether I would have tried to get to the bottom of whether it really was the husband that did it, or not is another matter!

At times I was completely convinced I had figured it out, only to discover I was of course wrong. Certainly a story that drew me in, and kept me on my toes, which is what I have come to expect from an author as talented as B A Paris.

Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

Brilliant, clever story. A suburban based psychological thriller at its very best. Superb tense story telling by B A Paris.

A move to a new house in The Circle should have been the start of a new and fabulous life for Alice and Leo but secrets, lies and deceit will always put a stop to that.
I loved the writing and loved how I got to experience the unfolding of the story along with Alice and she made her discoveries.
I'm still tense from the roller-coaster of emotions I've been feeling. Brilliant ending, I got very involved . Can't recommend this highly enough

Sorry to say this book didn’t entertain me like some of this authors other books. It was quite long drawn out and I found myself bored at some parts. The ending was quite good but it seemed to take a while to get there.

I had huge expectations for this book. I loved Behind Closed Doors and The Dilemma was off genre for her, so I was pleased that she had gone back to writing thrillers.
The main thing that stood out for me getting frustrated with the book was the title. There was rarely any mention of a therapist until the last quarter of the book. To me, if it is going to be the title, the book should centre around it. I had the same problem with 'The Housewarming' by S E Lynes.
I think the title should have been called The Circle or something, after the name of the road the characters lived on.
The twist was a good one, but I felt the pace slowed a lot in the middle.
The characters were likeable, and I found myself questioning all of their involvement in the story.

Just finished this book and wow!!! This book hooked me in from the first page and kept me hooked until the very last page. Every time I thought I had sussed it out, there was another swerve throwing me right back to where I started. At no point did I guess, not even an inkling which rarely happens to me!!! Kept in suspense all the way through.

Alice and her boyfriend, Leo, have just moved into their first home together in a gated community, known as The Circle, in London. There new home is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…

As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating, grisly secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before. and becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened in her home but no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbours seem to be keeping secrets and she can’t shake off the feeling that something is not quite right.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The Therapist is the 5th book I have read by B A Paris and whilst it’s not my favourite of hers, it is still a strong novel. When Alice moves into the gated community of The Circle, she discovers that the woman who previously lived their was murdered. Alice becomes obsessed with discovering more about Nina’s death.

As Alice interrogates the neighbours, we discover a multitude of secrets and lies. The main negative for me was that some of the mundane and repetitive discussions with her new friends felt overly long and thus it took a while to get to the thriller aspects of the book. Nonetheless, the twists and turns were woven carefully throughout leading to a disturbing yet satisfying conclusion.

Slightly disappointed with this book, started well but about halfway through it got very frustrating and obvious. The main character made stupid decisions and her thought process was pathetic at times......

I really enjoyed this thriller about a woman who discovers the house she's just moved into was the scene of a horrific murder. The neighbourhood she has just joined is a tight-knit community and, while desperately wanting to make friends with them, an atmosphere of suspicion and distrust is palpable. I found this book hard to put down as the mystery slowly unravelled and the tension was ratcheted up. A very entertaining page-turner.

Alice is taking the plunge, moving away from the cottage she loved in Harlestone, to live with her boyfriend Leo in a gated community called The Circle in Finsbury Park, London. Up to now they've only shared weekends together as Leo's job takes him all over the country and they're hoping that moving in together will give them more quality time with each other. Whilst Alice is getting to know her new neighbours, she discovers something about her new home that begins to have far reaching consequences for both her and Leo. She quickly becomes obsessed with finding out exactly what happened two years ago, but her neighbours clearly don't want to discuss it and she's convinced they know more than they are letting on.

This latest thriller by BA Paris is a tale of obsession, secrets and lies. The Circle was a tight knit small community where nothing went unnoticed, everyone knew each others business but nobody was prepared to open up and tell the truth about what happened two years earlier. The storyline is told over two timelines; past and present, full of twists and turns and I was changing my mind every few minutes as to who the perpetrator was, I think I'd suspected everyone in The Circle by the time the real culprit was revealed, what a shocker!! I've loved all of this authors previous books and this one didn't disappoint either, it's an intense read which I devoured in less than 24 hours.

I'd like to thank Netgalley and HQ for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

I am a big fan of this author and, although this latest offering didn't quite hit the heady heights of previous books, it was a thoroughly decent read nonetheless. I think I was spoiled by her first two books which really did set a high bar for what came after.
So, Alice and Leo move into their new house in a rather exclusive gated community. Whilst Leo is out at work, Alice starts to try to get to know her neighbours but in doing so, starts to hear rumours about what happened to Nina, a therapist who used to live in her house. This interest soon becomes an obsession and she discovers that something bad happened two years ago. Something that her new found neighbour friends are very reluctant to talk about. Something that she feels compelled to get to the bottom of - despite the lies that come at her from neighbours' mouths.
Although I did feel sorry for Alice as Leo had deceived her about the house he bought without her seeing it, or knowing about its past, I also couldn't really connect to her and being as she is the main character, I think that did mar my enjoyment of the book a tad. The story started well, with fingers pointing to various people - all with their own secrets and lies it appears - and then they started being whittled down... but then it all got a bit too much as it started to go a bit round in circles - matching the setup of the houses in the gated community but doing little to progress things - and then it all got a bit strange when the truth came out and I wasn't quite 100% behind the conclusion.
That said, for the majority of the book I had a good time. And this will in no way put me off the author in the future. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Alice is not happy! She is trying to convince herself that this new life with Leo in their new house in The Circle will prove to be a good move.. However, there has been a murder and nobody is talking about it! She gets to know the neighbours but things are not as they should be! The story unfolds at a good pace and the characters are all believable though perhaps a little contrived at times! It kept me intrigued right to the end where all was conveniently revealed with a neat twist!

My first book by this author and it sure won’t be my last, A gut clenching domestic drama that at times had me holding my breath in anticipation of what was going to happen next. I devoured this book in one sitting.

I was lucky to receive this book as a ‘read now’ my sincere thanks to Netgalley and the publisher.

I’ve loved everything I have ever read by this author and this was certainly no exception!
I finished this in one day as it was very hard to put down!

he story focuses on Alice who takes her 18 month relationship with her boyfriend a step further by moving in together in a gated community of 12 houses. All doesn’t seem quite right though for Alice when she feels her neighbours are acting strange towards her. Alice soon realises why her neighbours are acting strange towards her when she finds out that the previous occupant Nina was brutally murdered by her husband, something her boyfriend Leo tried to hide from her.

Alice begins to then question whether Nina was murdered by her husband, particularly following conversations she has with her new neighbours around Nina and her husband.

I find the first two thirds of this book really slow and I was not a big fan of Alice, who is obsessive and seems to have a lot of trust issues and seems to find it hard moving from her rural/country living to relocating to London.

The pace however does accelerate towards the end and there are a few twists and turns, but I did guess who the real murderer was halfway through the book.

I’d like to thank NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review
