I really enjoyed this book - it kept me guessing right up until the end, although as an amateur sleuth I did start to recognise a few red flags in some characters explanations for their weird behavior which made it all the more fun to read! I felt it reminded me a bit of Agatha Christie with everyone being a suspect, I also got a sense of "The Circle" being a bit of a cult which I thought also added another element to this novel as I had a sense of dread all the way through to what might happen to our protagonist! Really recommend.

Yes! 2020 isn’t all bad because there’s a new B A Paris book coming out! (Okay it’s due in January 2021 but you know what I mean ;)...)

Anyone else had a pile of books with pretty similar plots recently? “Woman starts obsessing over small thing and drives herself crazy” is getting boring for me. I’m sick of those books. This isn’t one of them! ;)

The Therapist has a plot worth sticking with. It interesting and exciting. There’s enough mystery for the reader to be interested and I raced through the pages trying to work out what happened. As the pieces come together you’ll fall in live with this author! You HAVE to read The Therapist.

4.5 stars
I’ve been a fan of BA Paris books for quite a while now and The therapist is a must read psychological thriller.

Starting a new life with her boyfriend is always exciting and opens up the opportunity to know more and better about the other person. Because it's a closed community, everyone knows everyone and everything about their life.

Soon after, she founds out that actually there's a lot she doesn't know about him and especially what happened previously in the same house and with the previous owner, a therapist.

The dialogue and the side characters are adding more mystery, and each interaction brings more questions and answers and some predictable moments and some very unexpected turns.

It's gripping and got me engrossed in a story full of layers to unveil so many twists and secrets.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

It was the first time I had read this genre of book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend anyone to read it and look forward to reading more by this author. I was gripped from the start and this continued throughout.

Earlier this year I read Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris and I was honestly hooked. It is right up there with my top books of 2020 so I had really really high hopes for this book before I’d even read the first page.

The story follows Alice, a somewhat troubled woman who has moved with her boyfriend Leo into a gated community in London. After finding out some disturbing news about her home, Alice becomes obsessed with the history behind the home and its previous occupier and starts to uncover what has happened in the past.

The first 20% of this book set the scene really well and was very easy to read. Paris’ style is right up my street and you both fee involved with the characters and like you could devour the book in one sitting. The same can be said about the last 20%. It was fast paced, exciting and revealed all the answers I’d been looking for throughout the rest of the book. My problem lies with the middle 60%. For me it was a bit too slow and drawn out and in parts a tad repetitive. It’s not an overly long book but I found the middle to drag on a little bit and found myself racing to get to the final bit where the would finally get some answers.

I did predict parts of the ending which always knocks at least a star off for me as I like to be surprised! If you like BA Paris or are a fan of a good thriller then I would still say to give it a read as it is a good book, but I personally feel there are others that are better.

This is a gripping psychological thriller with ghost story elements and I loved it!

A young couple meet and after only being together at weekends, decide to buy a house together. Unfortunately, the house appears to hold a dark secret and their neighbours seem distant. What happened in the house? Why are there strange noises at night?

There are elements that require suspension of belief - how could a young professional afford a detached house in a secluded 'circle' in London and all without any input from his girlfriend? Then, he refurbs the upper floor! Not only that, but, when said girlfriend decides she'd like some time alone, he moves out, despite it being his house.
I don't believe the above are spoilers and I don't think they will affect your enjoyment - at least I hope not. They are just niggles that stopped this being a full 5* read for me.

Overall though, this absolutely gripped me and I loved the relationships between the friends in the Circle and Leo and Alice, the new arrivals. I found it spooky, intriguing and enjoyable.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HQ Publication for the opportunity to preview and I wish BA Paris every success with this excellent read.

‘The Therapist’ is one of the best thrillers I’ve read this year. It was creepy and suspenseful and it kept me hooked the entire time; it was so gripping that I read it in two sittings, only putting it down once to sleep.

About halfway through the book I found myself wishing that we had more of the past perspective, but by the end I realised why this wasn’t necessary and was glad that we were only given a few snippets of it. The author had me doubting every single character, and myself, for the entire book and I genuinely didn’t know what to believe.

There are so many plot twists and red herrings sprinkled throughout ‘The Therapist’ and although I guessed a few things that were going on, I was completely surprised by a couple of the major plot twists, so much so that they had me gasping out loud in shock.

I highly recommend giving ‘The Therapist’ a read if you’re looking for a good psychological thriller!

Alice and Leo get a bargain when they buy a house in a gated development in London. They have just moved in together and are finding their way, but when Alice uncovers the reason the house was so cheap, things start to go wrong between them.
The Therapist is an easily read if unlikely tale, as Alice gets stuck in to solve what many before her have failed to do.
Engaging but not the slightest bit chilling. (Many will adore this)

Like many people, I was a huge fan of Behind Closed Doors although admittedly, her other books have not been as good in my opinion and although I'd include The Therapist in that group, it is still well worth a read. I loved the setting of the book, a small and private gated community where secrets clearly lie. The protagonist Alice was really likeable and I definitely emphasised with her in the situation she found herself in. Like Alice, I was suspicious of the other residents in The Circle and this spurred me on through the book. There are plenty of small twists and while none of these were particularly thrilling, I'll be honest that I didn't 'guess' the main twist of the book which I'm always pleased about. That said, although this was an interesting read and well written, it simply wasn't exciting enough for me.

B A Paris,‘s books never ever disappoint and this book is up there as one of the best. The plot is amazing and in my wildest dreams did not see the story play out as it did.. At every point you wonder could it have been. The characters come alive through the pages. Brilliant from start to finish

This was an ok read for me. It started off well but then I found it dragging on a bit in the middle. There were a few twists and turns along the way and the last 20% was not what I was expecting at all. I really didn’t see that coming!
The book and the setting remained me slightly of the tv show Desperate Housewives. It had nosey people and cliques of people throughout the story.
Overall, a good book but something about it just stops it from being great.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Murders, lies and secrets all merge into a captivating tale centred on a gated community in London. A promised perfect new beginning rapidly turns sour and we start to mistrust all the characters like our protagonist does. A great plot, which I didn’t manage to fully unravel myself before the finale - always the sign of a good read!

I really enjoy B.A. Paris books and was delighted to receive a copy of her new book The Therapist.
Alice and her new boyfriend Leo buy a house in a gated community in London.
Leo works away from home and only comes home at the weekends. Strange things are happening in their new house and Alice thinks that the neighbours are keeping secret from her.
This book had me hook from the beginning, it was a roller coaster ride with twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat.
I guessed the perpetrator early on and felt that near the end the story became a little unrealistic and that’s why I’m giving it four stars.
I’m eagerly waiting for the next book by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

The ending was fantastic and developed well throughout the book.
I’d strongly recommend this and it’s worthy of a big fat 5 stars.

I loved this book, it was so hard to put the book down and get anything done!
It kept me guessing and I kept changing my mind about the 'baddy' was.
I can't wait to read more by this author!

I did enjoy this book but didn't enjoy it as much as previous books. I didnt really like the characters and guessed quite early on who the perpetrator was. A little bit unrealistic but never the less a good read

I've only read one of B A Paris' previous books #TheDilemma which I really liked. Others have said this is a departure from B A Paris’s previous psycho-thrillers so that maybe explains why I wasn't as invested in this one. It was a bit of a slow burn and I think maybe the characters just didn't have enough depth for me to really get behind them or the story. The early narrative is told from Alice’s viewpoint interspersed with anonymous therapy sessions but for me these chapters didn't really add anything because I'd completely forgotten them by the time I knew what/who they were about and would've had to re-read later to make any sense if them. The plot also got a bit strange and overdone towards the end with Alice managing to somehow tenuously link one-off events across multiple countries and years but not see what was right in front of her eyes. Definitely not a must-read but also not a miss either so why not make up your own mind....

Having read all of the B. A. Paris’ previous books I was excited to read this latest one, and it did not disappoint. Really great story, with plenty of twists and turns and a shocking ending. Definitely worth reading.

This was brilliant , just as I've come to expect from B A Paris . I was hooked from the start , Alice and Leo move in together in an exclusive gated housing estate called The Circle . Alice instantly feels some disapproval from some of her neighbours but doesn't understand why . It soon comes to light that the previous owner was murdered in the property . It's a coincidence that she was called Nina , the same as Alice's dead sister , Alice feels she needs to solve the murder and starts her own investigation with the help of a private investigator . Nina suspected most of her neighbours at some point and as usual we don't have an inkling what is around the corner .Fantastic as usual . Thank You
