Huge fan of this author and this is another absolutely superb read. I have nothing negative I can say about this book. It has been a great read filled with interesting characters and a unique plot.
Wow! What a novel. It starts off with a young couple moving house to live in a gated, so-called secure community, but it soon becomes apparent it’s anything but. It’s absorbing and addictive as the tension mounts with a surprising ending.
Quite possibly my favourite B A Paris read to date!! She is so clever with her storylines.
I loved how it was split into the past and now. I didnt guess the killer, I was completely sucked in. I suspected every single character and I was so far from the truth.
I loved the setting for this book, a secure gated housing estate. Expensive properties. Very Stepford esque being in their own little bubble. It certainly added to the atmosphere.
"Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." This quote is repeated a few times in the book and i think it is quite apt for day to day living.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
B.A. Paris is one of my favourite authors and I have enjoyed all her books. This one was a thoroughly good read although, in my opinion, not as good as The Dilemma.
The storyline was interesting and held my interest throughout, all the characters were good and what a fantastic ending, I never guessed who the guilty one was.
I can definitely recommend this book and thank you to Netgalley and HQ for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I definitely enjoyed this read of BA Paris’ latest domestic thriller and I couldn’t guess whodunnit, no matter how I tried to speculate, so there are ticks in those boxes. The conclusion was slightly disappointing and I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I leave the book behind glad that I’d read it.
Alice and Leo move in together, doing so in an exclusive development called ‘The Circle’. Immediately, I thought, those people are weird (chuckles). There’s a definite underlying premise to where the main character Alice finds herself and that is…don’t move in with someone too quickly (this is not a spoiler) but a general life lesson.
The story of The Therapist was intricate with little details that came back to prod you later. It was all about who to trust and the lies that people tell but ultimately, this was a whodunnit. Alice seemed to be a really niave character, damaged by her own traumas but easily led by others. Leo lacked some character development, I felt as I didn’t know him much by the end. The plot was a little far fetched at times but it remained pretty gripping.
As with any thriller, the temperature and mood of the read is particularly important and the narrative was able to conjure some sinister feelings and sense of foreboding. This was a multiple POV that worked well.
Overall, a good story with a bit of fading towards the end.
When Alice and Leo move into their new house in a gated community in London, Alice can’t wait to make friends with her new neighbours. When she plans a drinks party to meet them, Leo seems much less keen than she anticipated and Alice can’t work out why. When Alice discovers that the previous owner of the house was murdered by her husband who later killed him self, she starts to get the feeling of being watched. Digging deeper into the past, Alice starts to feel that she too is in danger but who can she turn to when her neighbours all seem to be hiding something.
I zipped through this book and while it may not be the best psychological thriller I have read, I had to keep reading to find out which of Alice’s suspects was the guilty one.
I normally really like BA Paris' books, but, to me, this wasn't one of her best. I found her writing style difficult to get into and the plot very convoluted. I don't want to give spoilers but I'm still not quite sure of Alice's motives in hunting down a murderer and I found her neighbours unlikable stereotypes.
I'm still looking forward to her next novel though!
Thank you to netgalley and HQ for an advance copy of this book
I am a huge fan of B.A Paris and her writing style.
With her words she manages to captivate me entirely and drag me into the lives of her characters. I feel myself following along for the ride, and looking round corners for clues that the characters can't see. But I always manage to come to the right conclusion before the characters.
Maybe that is because I read so many psychological books, I can see certain things. But this never ever takes away from the big reveal and all my questions being answered.
I never feel like a stone has been left unturned in these books because everything is wrapped up so well.
I look forward to the next book by this author as I always do
A thriller of a read. Tight knit neighbours and secrets a perfect recipe. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It was gripping from the start. An excellent read that I highly recommend
I have enjoyed previous books by this author but this one just seems to be written in a different way . I'm not sure why, but I struggled with it and was glad to actually finish it. This one isnt one I would recommend although from the reviews it seems I am in the minority
It really pains me to say I was disappointed with this, the latest from B.A. Paris as I usually LOVE her books. The Dilemma for example got a solid 5 stars from me. This though, was lukewarm and lacklustre. The characters were unlikeable and I didn't think there was any real depth to the plot. Disappointed.
Classic Trendy gated London area. Neighbours with secrets and the subject of the title has been murdered in a house recently bought by a couple. But one of them doesn’t know about the murder. The story unravels every neighbour seems a bit odd ramping up this whodunnit. Thoroughly enjoyable.
After Alice and Leo have been dating for a while thy decided to start living together. Alice leaves her countryside home and moves into a house that Leo buys in a gated community called ‘The Circle’, in London.
Leo bought their new home for a great price, meaning Alice doesn’t need to sell her previous home, but the reason for the cheap price isn’t know to Alice. Strange things start happening, things seem to move around in the house, they hear movement during the night when they are both asleep, then Alice discovers the reason that Leo purchased the house so cheaply. As the story unfold Alice discovers that Leo has been keeping secrets from her and that she doesn’t really know Leo. As she gets to know her new neighbours, Alice realises there are more secrets surrounding the residents of ‘The Circle’ than she realised.
Parts of this book were very gripping, and I couldn’t put it down. However, I struggled with part of the plot as there are lots of characters entwined and you soon loose track of who is married to whom, who said what to whom and which characters are Alice’s old friends, and which are her new.
Overall, it was a good read, but not my favourite BA Paris book by a long stretch.
I often wonder why people would choose to move into a property where something grisly has happened but obviously the bigger nightmare would be doing so unknowingly. I did feel some sympathy towards Alice initially when she found out the secret of her new home (boyfriend Leo’s newly purchased bargain priced house) but her behaviour thereafter left me a little indifferent to her. Personally the idea of living in The Circle (a private gated community with 12 houses in a circle) is a non-starter and the more we learned about the neighbours the stronger that feeling became. This wasn’t quite what I expected despite having read all of BA Paris’ previous books. It is chock a block with lies but I do think it could have gone much darker.
When Alice and Leo decide to buy a house and move in together, they decide on a house Leo has found for a knockdown price in London.
The house is one of 12 in a secluded gated community called The Circle. What Alice doesn’t know is the reason for the great price.
Shortly after moving in a mysterious stranger turns up and drops a bombshell which leaves Alice questioning her relationship with Leo and who she can trust.
Strange things start to happen in the house and people seem to be keeping secrets
There were times when I struggled to put this book down but also times where I felt it lacked something, I felt the characters were lacklustre and didn’t gel with them particularly.
I was a bit surprised towards the end although I had guessed who was the perpetrator however hadn’t guessed the whole story behind that character
All in all it was an enjoyable read
This is another gripping read from B A Paris. Well written, with an extremely well conceived plot, it is the very definition of ‘unputdownable’
The novel starts with Alice and partner Leo moving into ‘The Circle’, a gated urban community, to start their life together. This is a bittersweet move for Alice, as she, for the first time in her life, moves away from the rural life that she associates with the parents and sister she lost tragically years earlier.
To ingratiate themselves with the neighbours, they throw a housewarming party, but days later Alice is shocked to discover one of her guests was an imposter! On meeting this character again she discovers that her beautiful new home was in fact scene to a gruesome murder. Understandably disturbed and shaken by this revelation, Alice does some sleuthing, leading her to distrust and suspect all her neighbours and aquaintances in pursuit of the truth.
With more than a few cracking plot twists, this a book to be savoured!
I dont hesitate to give this book 5 stars.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for this ARC
Easy quick read, bestseller vibe but perfect for those days when you just want to zone out
Any book by BA Paris I know is one to relish....24 hours after starting it, tv programmes sacrificed, I have finished it. Gripped from start to finish it certainly did not disappoint. Set in an exclusive gated community, Alice has just moved in, and when she discovers there housed a murder she couldn’t help herself find out more....exciting and thrilling! Loved it! Another level!
Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in London, in a gated community, called The Circle.
The house seems to be perfect until Alice discovers a disturbing secret about her new home. Obsessed with finding out what really happened two years ago, she sets out to investigate, but can she trust her neighbours to tell her the truth?
I love B A Paris' books, so I was delighted to be approved for an advance copy of this novel.
The story was so cleverly plotted that it kept me guessing who the therapist was all the way through, and the perpetrator turned out to be someone I would never have put my money on.
It might have been a slow-to-start story, but it was so engaging that the next thing I knew I was almost finished, and when the story did pick up, it had me madly turning the pages.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I'm not a fan of slow-burners. However, overall, it was yet another great book from BA Paris, and whether you're her fan already or whether you're new to her work, you shouldn't be disappointed if you decide to pick up this book.
