I have no words for how awesome Giselle and Devon are. There story was filled to the brim with chemistry and banter that we can always expect from Ilsa. They had an undeniable connection and we got to see it grow from beginning to end. Their relationship was sweet, sexy, swoony and just, everything.
The depth of feelings and emotions throughout and how you had to dig under the surface to find out who the characters really were are a couple of the things I loved about this book.
Ilsa has a way of making you feel everything the characters are experiencing. I loved Not My Romeo, and Not My Match is just as great. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

I absolutely adore Giselle and Devon! Devin is just the sweetest, most protective, genuinely good guy. I have heart eyes for a fictional character and I’m not even going to deny it. I wondered if I would really be able to connect with Giselle after the first book, but I shouldn’t have fretted. Giselle is a quirky charmer, with so much heart and sincerity, she completely won me over. These two together are just magical. This one is full of heart and humor, southern small town antics, and definitely some heat. I loved it.

I love friends to lovers/ sports romance.
We met Giselle Riley in the previous book and the truth is that most of that book I hated her for what she does to her sister, but I liked this book a lot.

She has very bad luck dating and knowing that even though she looks very innocent she is also very strong and will give Devon a hard time.

We also got to know Devon a little bit in book 1 since he is the best friend of Jack, Giselle's brother-in-law, and it seems that Jack has warned the football team not to go near his innocent sister-in-law Giselle.

She of course doesn't react well to that when she finds out, especially since it happens just when Devon has saved her from a disastrous date, after exchanging a few words Giselle leaves Devon with an open mouth and her shoes forgotten.

A fire in Giselle's place will bring her closer to Devon than she could have imagined, not that she didn't wish for it because she has been dreaming and with a crush for him for a long time.

Living together will become very difficult for Devon who gets very jealous every time he sees Giselle with her dates until they end up accepting and confessing what they really feel for each other.

I like that the characters are adults and although they seem strong and confident they have their emotional burdens and problems that they keep hidden or only for themselves.

If I'm honest, I didn't expect Giselle to like me so much and in the end she won me over because of how well Ilsa Madden Mills wrote her.

I am very happy because this has been a reading that I have enjoyed very much.

Many thanks to the author, Netgalley and Social Butter Fly PR for providing me with an ARC, I’m freely given my honest review as a thank you.

Giselle and Devon's story is a great sport forbidden romance, where something has them becoming roommates and so the temptation is there and their chemistry too. This was a fun read, I laughed and had myself reading it non-stop. I loved Devon, he was such a great book boyfriend, while Giselle is an independent nerdy girl. They both struggle with their own insecurities, and then the family and friends are there to push their buttons. Definitely a great read for any day.

FIVE MATCH STARS for Giselle and Devon 💜🖤💜🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Ilsa wrote another beautiful sports romance that stole my heart and I've read it with pleasure.

"Not My Match" is a contemporary sports romance with friends to lovers trope which will win you over with its funny action and irresistible characters already on the first pages.

Giselle is a female character that I loved immensely because of her positivity and openness and how at times she resembles me with her behavior that I was able to completely identify with the things she is going through.

Ah, I absolutely adored Devon!

Devon is a male character who won me over with his protective attitude towards the people he loves and because he supported Giselle’s dreams.

Giselle and Devon’s relationship is a real explosion based on friendly teasing that later turns into true love.

If you're looking for a contemporary sports romance with friends to lovers trope and you also love Ilsa's writing style, then this is definitely a book for you!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Giselle is a nerdy girl she loves everything science, she’s smart and eccentric and caring she knows what she wants, and she goes for it. She’s newly single and she is ready got get back out into the dating field.
Devon is the hunk of a man who is an alpha that has a cuddly teddy bear side, he was hurt in the past and had his walls up, it was good to see him breaking down his walls for Giselle, he also play’s pro football, and a friend of Giselle’s.
The connection that these two had was passionate it was a beautifully written slow burn,
I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next book. (crossing my fingers hoping it’s Aiden)

After reading Not my Romeo I was fascinated by Devon Walsh, and now that I have read his book, I love him even more. Devon is the guy who always has a smile on his face, who is always there to support his loved ones and who has a sparkling personality that just by looking at him conveys his good vibes.

As for Giselle, I must confess that I had my doubts with her from what we read in NMR, but now I can say that she is a character that conquered me. She's super smart (obviously since she's doing a PhD in physics), she's spontaneous, fierce, creative, sassy, charismatic, and quite witty. She is also super sweet and very easy to get attached to that peculiar personality she has; she follows her ideals and always speaks her mind. The love she has for science and her imagination are limitless. The only flaw (in her perspective) is being a virgin with almost 24 years old. After being homeless, Devon offers her his place. Also, he helps her find a man worthy of her. But neither of them counted on getting close so fast to the point of creating mixed feelings, jealousy, and unforgettable experiences.

Devon was always there for Giselle, offered her his unconditional friendship and then, without realizing it, opened his heart to her. The chemistry between them is off the charts and both complement each other perfectly. However, not everything is good, as Devon has a somewhat heavy luggage and must work on it to free himself completely. I liked that Giselle has her own voice and makes herself heard. Furthermore, I liked Gisele's passion and dedication for science. Unfortunately in real world there is still discrimination in certain professions, and the scientific field is no exception. Also I liked the persistence to reach their goals and the reorientation of priorities(when you read it you understand). Anyway, this book put me through a lot of emotions: a lot of laughs, anticipation, a bit of sadness for some situations, anxiety and also many moments that melted my heart.

Not My Match is such a sweet, sassy Contemporary Sports Romance! Ilsa Madden-Mills is a master at writing books with memorable, quirky characters and just enough slow burn to keep you reading. I so enjoyed Devon and Giselle's story; they had terrific chemistry and their back and forth cracked me up. If you enjoy great dialogue, larger than life characters, just a bit of drama, and an overall satisfying read, this one should be a no brainer! 4 Stars!

I loved Devon and Giselle! They are the perfect couple!! It took me a little while to remember the characters in this series but once I did I remembered why I loved this series!!

Devon is the perfect man for Giselle. I love how his relationship starts with Giselle. They become friends first!

Giselle is a different character. I loved it!! Her love for people is special. I loved watching her worm her way into Devon’s heart. She was miss understood in book 1. She was painted in a completely different light but once you read this book you will understand more about what happened with her in book 1.

I love this series! I love Topher, Aunt Clara and even the mom!

G.U.T.T.E.D. This book... I finished it in a matter of hours. Once I started I couldn't stop. A lot of the time, I forgot I was reading a book. That the pages would soon run out and the story would be over. That doesn't happen often, but when it does I get the best kind of hangover... a book one. I became so invested in Giselle Riley and Devon Walsh. Giselle was quirky, nerdy, and cynical. She was unapologetically herself, breaking down those walls and meshing science and romance. She's compassionate, kind, respectful. And then there's Devon. Unofficial Giselle handler, keeping cocky arrogant players away. All because his best friend Jack who happens to be Giselle's new brother-in-law tells him her little secret. But Devon had his own walls to scale, so even though he had feelings for her his fear of being left behind holds him back until neither one has the willpower to resist. It was so blatantly clear that Devon and Giselle were meant to be together. They balanced each other out. I laughed so much and I cried just as much. And in the end, I sighed as they got their happily ever after.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Not My Match to Perfect Match. I absolutely loved Devon and Giselle's story. It was a sweet, romantic slow burning love story. Full of witty innuendos, playful banter and crazy antics. You'll laugh and swoon and fall head over heels for the sexy wide receiver and the quirky science lover.

Devon is to die for, he's handsome, charismatic and loved by everyone. He comes across as super confident but underneath he hides a vulnerable side where he doesn't let people close. I loved Devon, he's a really great guy.
Giselle is a hoot, she's sweet and caring with a wicked sense of humour. I adored her she's definitely Devon's perfect match.

I'm really excited for more in The Game Changers series, I especially love Aiden he's hilarious, I need his story.

After ending up homeless Giselle Riley ends up staying in Devon Walsh's penthouse. He knows he shouldn't have invited her to stay with him, but he feels like she needs all the help she can get. And since she is a 24 year old virgin, Devon knows she isn't a match for his playboy ways. And tries his hardest to keep his hands off her. So he decides to play her matchmaker, no matter how mad and jealous it makes him when he goes along on her dates. There's no way a girl like her would fit into his world, or so he thinks.

I was surprised with how much I liked this one. Giselle is the sister from book 1 who stole her sister's boyfriend. So I would never in a million years have classified her as innocent. But this book showed a side to her that I never even saw coming. She is nerdy and completely naive and I definitely didn't expect that! Devon is Jack's (book 1) best friend. He is this athletic, hot, player who is moody but you can't help but love him. Honestly, I usually don't really like the guys who are players and suddenly they aren't when they meet their "one". I was honestly surprised with how much these two actually made sense. I never would have put them together, but they compliment and bring out the best in each other. So while I went into this book not really expecting to like it that much, I actually thoroughly enjoyed it!

Ilsa Madden-Mills takes a thin red string and binds her leads in fated love even while she manages to captivate an entire audience In Not My Match!

If two people were on the opposite ends of the spectrum of people's perceptions it would be Devon Walsh and Giselle Riley. Devon was a superstar wide receiver and the guy to have around for a good time with no expectations. Giselle was the brilliant physics student planning a life committed to academia. From all perspectives these two were not what anyone would imagine as a couple but then Ilsa Madden-Mills with her ingenious matchmaking skills stepped in and created a relationship that was so perfect that it was impossible to see any other outcome but for Devon and Giselle to fall hopelessly in love.

Drawn to each other this pair's connection was a great display of contrasted realities. To most Devon was the fun one and Giselle was the serious one but when they were alone and let their guards down their roles were often reversed. The ambiguity of their expected roles added a great dynamic and made for some interesting developments in this story. An attraction built on friendship, their loyalty and unconditional acceptance of each other was touching. The push and pull in with this couple felt organic and while there was no shortage of struggles Devon and Giselle were well matched.

Humor was an integral part of this work and Ms. Madden-Mill's colorful characters flourished with their fabulous eccentric behavior and antics. From her leads to her secondary cast everyone stood out in this story and there was no shortage of entertaining moments. The comical moments offset poignant moments without downplaying them.

Ilsa Madden-Mills struts her stuff unabashedly in Not My Match. She makes goofy all the rage with her unique take on everyday life. If there is an author out there who can manage to find a way to make unexpected matches work believably, it is Ilsa Madden-Mills. Her writing finds a place that shares vulnerability with kindness and humor without ridicule. The opposite of its title Not My Match was the perfect match for old and new readers alike.

No exaggeration: I loved everything about this book. The witty banter between the characters, the emotional pull of the story, and of course, the writing. Ilsa Madden-Mills has always been a favorite author, but her last 3 books (including Not My Match) have put her at the top of my "one-click without reading the blurb" list.

Giselle and Devon were wonderful secondary characters from Not My Romeo, and I love that they have their own tale to tell. There's no need to read the previous book, but it too is a terrific read.

Devon, a star NFL Player, is all flash compared to Giselle's scientific and studious persona. But they both have an inner depth that Ms Madden-Mills brings to the surface with exceptional character development. They're opposite in so many ways, but they click. Friends first, but with a simmering attraction that's always present. The slow burn and quiet yearning made this a one-sitting read for me. I wanted more, more, more!

This very well may stay as one of my top reads of the year. I know it's early, but there was something so compelling about this book that will stay with me for a long time to come. 5+ stars!

Overall Grade: 5 ⭐️

Going into Not My Match by the incomparable Ilsa Madden-Mills, there were two preconceived notions about her hero and heroine. After Not My Romeo, this reader may or may not have had unkind thoughts about Elena’s sister, Giselle. As the boyfriend-stealing sister of Elena, for much of that book, it was difficult to like her. Add to that Jack’s best friend, Devon Walsh, wide receiver extraordinaire, female-loving playboy. What Ilsa Madden-Mills has done so well with Not My Match is take two seemingly complicated characters, a hero and heroine who make you feel equal parts curiousity and concern, and she crafts a love affair between the two that leaves you wishing for more of their story. I was anticipatory for Madden-Mills’s Not My Match because, by my estimation, she has never written a book I didn’t love and adore. And once again, she’s shown why you should never miss a Madden-Mills book.

In Not My Match, Giselle and Devon run into each other at Devon’s club. Devon rescues Giselle from an online date gone wrong, but their evening ends with Giselle storming away from Devon. Later that night, Devon goes to Giselle’s apartment to find it on fire. Without a place to go, Devon invites Giselle to live in his penthouse. With him. From the beginning of this book, it’s clear that Giselle and Devon have chemistry but Giselle, being the sister of his best friend’s new wife, along with a precarious past that taints his present, Devon refuses to act on his attraction to Giselle. Until he doesn’t. Is Giselle just one of Devon’s hook-ups, or is he relationship material?

If you’ve read Ilsa Madden-Mills previously, you know that one of her superpowers is writing heroes who have these larger than life outward personalities while hiding a soft underbelly. Devon is more of the same here. What Madden-Mills does well is keeping that fresh. Writers have signatures with their storytelling, and that is clearly one of hers. It’s what draws me to every one of her romances, but she constantly reinvents her heroic characterizations in ways that invest you in her hero. I adore Devon Walsh because Madden-Mills crafts him as complicated. He simply cannot give his heart to Giselle when it’s really the only thing he wants to do. As such, the tension of this story lies in his constant want of her while spurning her as well.

In Giselle, Madden-Mills takes a character who seemed spurious in Not My Romeo. For much of that book, you struggle with liking her because her actions seem unkind. However, much like we see in this book, nothing is really as it seems. Through Giselle, Madden-Mills treats us to so many layers: a science girl existing in a male-dominated world and all of those complications, a woman still struggling to forgive herself, a woman waiting to break out of the binds of virginity and other people’s ideas about her, and a woman whom her advisor says has a multi-faceted life, given her love of writing sci-fi romance. Giselle’s characterization is meant to challenge the idea of womanhood. Is it possible to have it all? Even more, are goals set in your youth still pertinent in your future? With both Devon and Giselle, Madden-Mills treats her readers to splendidly complicated offerings in her characters.

There is witty banter in Not My Match. There is a chemistry that foreshadows a deeper well of love. There are other characters such as Giselle’s best friend, Myrtle, or Jack’s nemesis, Aidan, who add color and humor to Giselle and Devon’s journey. Mama and Aunt Clara are here too, as well as Elena and Jack (in small bits). There are truths about how our past informs our future, and the need to live more deliberately in the present, living in your current dreams. There is the symbol of a butterfly, a symbol strewn all over Madden-Mills’s social media right now, because the butterfly reminds us of a new life, of a new sense of self. And that truth is what makes Not My Match an emotional juggernaut, a romance that captivates and steals your heart.

If you don’t do anything else this week/weekend, read Not My Romeo and Not My Match. These two books remind you that Ilsa Madden-Mills is a force in romancelandia. These two books are a perfect combination of quirky, sentimental, steamy and romantic. You will end these books feeling down deep in your soul that a life lived in abundance is the only life you need.

Ilsa Madden-Mills scores another hit with Not My Match. It was unique, funny, sweet, sexy, and educational Yes! That's right. I said educational.

This has a sexy, protective, caring, yet broken Hero, Devon. He is an NFL star. He knows Giselle is off-limits. Aiden, his best friend and teammate's sister-in-law, told him she's a virgin and has warned him and their teammates to stay away from her.

Giselle is a beautiful, smart, sexy, sweet, quirky, funny, and intelligent heroine, Giselle. She is in the process of getting her degree in I love the fact that Giselle is nerdy, a genius, and beautiful. She is the star in this book in my opinion. I loved her awkwardness and how she was so enthusiastic and driven she is about her work and her passions. These two are opposites but they fit so well together. If only Giselle can get Devon to give in to the desires he is trying so hard to resist.

I really enjoyed the slow-burn. The sexual tension was off the charts. I laughed a lot and swooned a lot too. I couldn't get enough of these characters. The Daisy Gang makes an appearance too. I love them. This was unique, well-written, and perfectly paced. I felt every emotion and it felt as if I was living the story alongside the characters. I recommend reading this book. This is a complete standalone with interconnecting characters. If you haven't read the first book in the series, I highly recommend reading it but it isn't necessary to read it to understand what is happening in this book.

Not My Match by Ilsa Madden-Mills is the second book in the Game Changers Series and it can be read as a total standalone. This is Giselle and Devon‘s story and a beautiful slow burn friends-to-lovers romance between a smart woman and a football hottie.
.
Giselle is Elena’s sister from Not My Romeo and has seen her sister fall in love and know wants to do the same. But this obviously isn’t that easy in addition to her birthday curse. I loved Giselle and her intelligent and fun personality. She is a girl genius and completing her doctorate in physics and also writing a SciFi Alien romance.
.
Devon is one of the best players in the NFL and living his dream. He is a charming and broody hero who also has some commitment issues. Devon never planned to fall in love until his eyes landed on Giselle. But his best friend forbade anyone from the team to get involved with her, which adds a tiny forbidden aspect to their story. I also loved his tattoos, the meaning behind them and the butterfly metaphor.
.
They know each other through mutual friends and family and only start to get closer after Giselle needs a place to stay. She moves in with Devon and they become roommates. Firstly, this blooms into a beautiful friendship and then slowly into more and I’m obsessed with this incredible story. This book has the perfect amount of fun and emotional scenes and Giselle and Devon are just destined to be together.
.
Overall, you will not only fall in love with these amazing characters, but also with their incredible story. 5 stars.

I just cannot get enough of the charming town of Daisy and all of the quirky characters that inhabit it. Not My Romeo was one of my favorite reads of 2021, and Not My Match certain matches its delightful witty charisma while painting an original story that is fresh and addictive. Eccentric characters with a connection that sizzles, sexy banter, the perfect nexus of comedy and romantic angst, and a tender love story at its heart. I laughed, I swooned, and I was enchanted yet again. Not My Match is yet another reminder why Ilsa Madden-Mills will always be one of my unicorn authors- every story captures my heart. And Devon and Giselle did just that.

After not my Romeo, I was DYING for Devon’s story. He was the comedic support that stole every scene. And I loved him even more in Not My Match- he’s more than the easy going, jovial wingman we meet before. Devon is a BEAUTIFUL soul that had me swooning and awwing left and right. He’s the perfect hero- the right balance of possessive protectiveness and charismatic swagger with a tender, caring, and deeply loving heart behind it all. He easily stole my heart- and Giselle’s- with his unending GOODNESS. His past pains just tore at my heart. This man is so complex and compelling. Truly so dreamy- I am captivated by him and completely in love.

Ilsa’s characters are always so delightfully specific and quirky- and Giselle may be her most adorably eccentric heroine yet. She surprised me in every way- and to be honest, I was worried I couldn’t get behind her after the hurt she caused her sister in book one- but I LOVED HER. Like everyone else, I had put her in a box. I had decided who and what she as without even knowing her. She is so much more than anyone can know- until Devon sees her. She’s brilliant and incredibly smart and driven, but she’s also so funny, gentle, and full of spunk and heart. And she’s so delightfully interesting and contrasting- a brilliant scientist who is writing alien erotic romance, an academic with a penchant for endless random knowledge that she adorkably spews out at any moment, a nerdy introvert who is also sexy and alluring. How could you not love her? She has such a loving soul- and she just is desperate to find herself, to be free and open with all her thoughts and love. And she has SO much love. And Ilsa so smartly gives us some closure with her sister- addressing the elephant in a room that makes us love and understand Giselle even more.

These two are so different on paper- but they both just want to be seen and valued for who they are. And their connection is SO sexy, so sweet, and so well done. This is some of the best Ilsa chemistry to date (which is saying a lot because her chemistry is always impeccable). We get to watch these two grow as friends, evolve as they love and support each other, and we see them connect as people. The result is that their relationship is grounded in care and emotion- in a tender respect and admiration for each other- that makes it just sizzle off the page. And the slow burn made me even more ravenous- Ilsa works the anticipation on this one, and it is worth the wait. SWOON! They are so adorable- explosive but sweet, raw but comforting. I could not love them more. THEY ZING!

Giselle and Devon’s story is so heartfelt and sweet- and full of the witty humor and sexiness that I love about Ilsa’s writing and this series. Daisy and these characters capture me every team- I love being swept away into the world that Ilsa has created. It feels like coming home- warm, inviting, full of love and laughter, and never fails to put a smile on my face

5 'All my universes' Stars!
ARC provided via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

Ilsa Madden-Mills. This woman has won me over and over since the start of last year and she continues doing it. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors and it says a lot that this is the second year in a row one of her books is the first added in my favorites’ shelf. I was highly expecting this story ever since I finished Not My Romeo and I have to say that Not My Match is even better. In a very short time, Devon and Giselle have become my favorite couple in this series (for now!) and I think their beautiful love story cannot be missed.

So, Not My Match is the second installment in Ilsa’s The Game Changers series and it follows with the story of two of the characters we met in the first book: Giselle Riley (Elena’s sister) and Devon Walsh (Jack’s best friend). Two polar opposites. Literally. Giselle is an extremely smart woman but unsure of herself and unexperienced in the sex department. Devon is an amazing wide receiver known as a hardcore player and not fan of relationships. But what happens when they become roommates and there is this strange zing between them? Well, sparks fly, of course.

She’s like a pal. One I can’t touch. There’s a clear thick line drawn between us.

I don’t even know where to start because I just loved everything about this novel. I thought I could not love Devon and Giselle more than I loved Elena and Jack but man.. was I wrong! These two opposites that just clicked from the very first meeting completely stole the show for me and their love story was one beautiful journey to read. The banter, the friendship, the slow burn, the emotions running high, the chemistry, the love. Everything about Not My Match was perfect.

Do what makes your heart fly. Every breath you inhale must be meaningful.

Reading how Devon and Giselle find that they are not as different and how that develops into an unbreakable connection, I just was a pool of melted happiness. Learning their stories, their difficulties, and their vulnerabilities. I enjoyed every second of how this love story is build. And how even though they try to put a stop to it, their chemistry and their emotions are so much stronger than that and this couple finally gets their much deserved happy ending. I was a blubbering mess towards the end but boy, it was so worth it!

“You are the best person in all my universes.”

Therefore, I am rating Not My Match with 5 STARS (my first of 2021!) because this story gripped me from start to finish and the connection and chemistry between Devon and Giselle was amazing, heartwarming and sexy AF. This one is for sure going on my yearly favorites that I can assure you (and it’s only January) because that is how good this love story is. Two polar opposites falling completely in love and written by the super talented Ilsa Madden-Mills? CHECK! CHECK! CHECK! Highly recommend reading this brilliant romance!
