I tried to give this book a chance. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and their relationship. I know this book will be enjoyed by other readers. I will not be sharing this review on my pages.
The Seat Filler by Sariah Wilson is a delightful and enchanting romance that will leave readers with a smile on their face. With its endearing characters, swoon-worthy moments, and a touch of Hollywood magic, this book is a perfect choice for fans of sweet and feel-good contemporary romance.
The story revolves around Tatum Graham, a talented musician who finds herself swept up in an unexpected encounter with Hollywood heartthrob Spencer Bliss. As Tatum agrees to be Spencer's fake girlfriend for a high-profile event, they embark on a whirlwind adventure that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. Along the way, they discover the true power of love and the importance of staying true to oneself.
Sariah Wilson's writing style is engaging and filled with charm, making it easy to get lost in the story. The author expertly captures the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry, transporting readers into a world of red carpets, paparazzi, and movie premieres. The chemistry between Tatum and Spencer is palpable, and their evolving relationship is filled with playful banter and tender moments that will make readers swoon.
The characters in The Seat Filler are lovable and relatable, with Tatum's down-to-earth nature and Spencer's hidden vulnerability adding depth to their personalities. The development of their connection is beautifully portrayed, with both characters experiencing growth and self-discovery as they navigate the challenges of fame and public scrutiny. Supporting characters, such as Tatum's best friend and Spencer's entourage, add layers of humor and friendship to the narrative, enhancing the overall reading experience.
The book explores themes of authenticity, finding one's voice, and the transformative power of love. Tatum's journey of self-acceptance and standing up for her dreams resonates with readers, while Spencer's quest to break free from his public image adds depth to his character. The emotional depth, combined with lighthearted moments, creates a well-rounded and satisfying story.
While the plot follows some predictable romance tropes, the author infuses the story with enough surprises and unique twists to keep readers engaged. The pacing is well-balanced, with moments of tension and emotional stakes interspersed with lighter moments of humor and romance.
In conclusion, The Seat Filler is a heartwarming and whimsical romance that will transport readers to the magical world of Hollywood and capture their hearts. Sariah Wilson's engaging storytelling, lovable characters, and a touch of Hollywood sparkle make this book a delightful escape into the realm of love and dreams. If you're looking for a sweet and uplifting romance that will leave you with a warm glow, don't miss The Seat Filler.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of The Seat Filler from the publisher for an honest review.
Something about this story bothered me at a subconscious level for much of the read, and then it dawned that there was a striking resemblance (not just physical but IRL) to actor Adam Driver, and suddenly, this book just didn't feel fun at all. The practice-kiss part had already had me doing weird faces at how the story had turned, but then the overall feeling of weirdness clicked at the fan fiction part - sadly, a no and a pass for me. Cannot seriously recommend this book, like at all
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. What a cute romance/women's fiction novel. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great light hearted read.
3.5 Stars
The Seat Filler is a fun, entertaining read. I think most people have wondered what would happen if they ever met their favorite celebrity. When Juliet fills in as a seat filler at an awards show she makes an impression on Noah. What starts as mutual attraction and a friendship becomes so much more.
I did enjoy this story and liked both characters. However, because it is told only in Juliet's POV. I don't feel like I truly understood why, after one meeting, Noah was so intent on getting in touch with her again. He went to some great lengths and I wish we could have gotten inside his head to understand. There were some sweet moments that shared and they did end up having good chemistry.
I would classify this book as a slow romance. I’m glad that I read it I really enjoyed it. It was an easy read. I would recommend this book to friends and family.
I've had this book on my Kindle forever <p.s. it's on Unlimited>. After being interested in the first few chapters, who wouldn't be in love with famous movie star Noah, my adoration quickly faded.
The story dies in the middle with a poorly poised slow burn. There were parts that I truly enjoyed and parts that were utter cringe. If you want to save the FULL CRINGE, don't read the acknowledgements. You're welcome.
Such a sweet rom-com! 😍 Movies stars and dogs... it doesn't get too much better than that! Relatable characters with real world problems... even the movie star!
The Seat Filler is my first book by Sariah Wilson. A fun rom com with Juliet who is working as a seat filler at an awards show and ends up right next to her crush Noah Douglas. How does someone who is actually afraid to kiss someone lead to more? A fun read that also talk about dogs! What more do you want?!!
I'm really not sure how I sit with this. I loved the sound of it and parts really enjoyed but others made me cringe. From the blurb I didn't realise this story was going to center around our leading lady being a bit obsessed with the mc and as the story went on bits of it made me feel icky which is a shame as I did enjoy other parts of the story. Sitting firmly on the fence with this one didn't love it didn't hate it
This book had me laughing out loud, shifting in my seat with anticipation, and gleefully screaming! I love when a book can evoke all of the emotions out of me and this one was no exception! I loved the interactions between the two MCs, I loved them individually, and I loved the story! I cannot wait to read another one by this author!
The best. The best. That’s all! So incredibly hilarious and charming and heart-gripping and playful. She’s done it again Sariah Wilson writes like people talk and that’s just amazing. When I want a fun, romantic read that grips me and won’t let me put it down, I know I can count on her. Read it. You won’t be disappointed.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I was in no way required to write a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Full disclosure, I DNFed The Seat Filler fairly early in the book. I enjoy the celebrity romance trope a lot, but this one was simply bad. I just couldn't handle the clunky writing and sheer lack of appeal in either the cringily awkward main character or the utterly boring love interest (aka Adam Driver, which...oof, those acknowledgments! and the absolute obviousness of Noah being Driver! and the sheer yikes of it all!). From what I've read in other reviews regarding issues like ableism and casual fatphobia, I think I dodged a bullet in quitting early.
Sariah Wilson takes us through another fun-loving exciting adventure. I could clearly picture Adam Driver as Noah.
I laugh out loud at several points in the book.
Love Sariah’s writing style
Have you ever seen an awards show and wondered how the audience always looks so full, all the time when you know people are moving around. That would be the job of a seat filler. This was not a new concept for me, I had heard of it prior to reading The Seat Filler. But after reading the description, it was such a cute premise for a romcom, I wanted to read it.
Noah Douglas is a nominated actor. Juliet is a temporary seat filler, just there for a brief amount of time. But this one chance encounter at an awards show leaves an impression on both of them. It leads to them sharing a little more, becoming friends, and soon wondering what the future could hold for them if they were honest with both their past and their future.
Although predictable, I did find myself intrigued while reading this book. I wanted to know what was going to happen between Noah and Juliet. To see if they overcome their obstacles and realize there is more to their friendship either one of them believes. But really I loved Juliets friend, Shelby. She was a voice of reason, providing both tough love and a listening ear. She was a good friend to Juliet.
I had no idea there was controversy surrounding until after when I went to look up the book on goodreads. I could see how this book could be labeled Fan Fiction, and esp after reading the acknowledgments. But knowing that after, for me, doesn’t change that it was still a cute premise for a book.
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for this eARC copy to read and review.

It took me a long time to finish this.😥
This is the story of how Juliet met her all time celebrity crush Noah. It started okay with how they met accidentally during an awards night. It was cute and I feel like it will be really an exciting experience meeting your celebrity crush for the first time without any mental preparation. But honestly, I won't even have the brain cell to act coy and deny that I know that celebrity like what Juliet did. I'll be fangirling a bit (I'll be shy) but I won't try pretending to not know him because what's the sense?
It was very hard for me to connect to the story because of Juliet. It was a test of my patience while reading her POV and unfortunately we only have her POV. While reading her thoughts, she kinda struck me as someone who thinks the world revolves around her and that everything is about her.
Noah is a flat character for me. He's like a backround character created to show how the world is all about Juliet. And he's too good and dreamy to be real. There are bits of emotion on the latter part but they were fleeting.
The romance part is a bit unrealistic for me. I was actually more interested with Shelby and Allan's story than the main storyline. The story felt too long, it dragged on many parts. Some analogies are over the top it puts me off sometimes, they were a bit cringey. Lastly, how the conflict was handled then solved was a bit abrupt for me.
It was overall a bland and slow read for me. I did see some high ratings for this book so it might just be my preference. It was unfortunate but this book didn't work for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this one. I havent read anything by this author before so it was a nice change to read someone new. This was a cute romance, something I was expecting. It had a good story line and was written well .Quick, fun, easy read if your looking for a good rom-com!
Ahhh, I loved this book too much. It made my heart swell and made me smile most of the time.
I loved the chemistry between Noah and Juliet. They are a real fun duo. I also really loved the dogs in this book, oop.
I couldn’t stop reading once I started this book and that says a lot for me. It made me laugh, it made me cry.
Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the e-arc.
This book was intriguing from the very first sentence and I spent the whole weekend fully immersed in the movie like rom-com story of Juliet and Noah. Who hasn’t imagined meeting a celebrity crush? The story of Juliet getting to actually date a superstar celebrity was a wonderful diversion from my real life and left me daydreaming about who I would date if I had the chance to meet a celebrity. The dialogue between Juliet and Noah when they first meet was hilarious and such a wonderful start to the book. Juliet is well written and I loved all of the nicknames she had for certain characters in the book. The middle of the book was a bit slow however and took longer to get thru but towards the end I was so invested in the story, I wished there was a sequel! This book is a perfect lighthearted escape from the real world.
I'm glad I took the time to read the acknowledgments and was happy to know that the author is giving some of the proceeds to Arts in the Armed Forces! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me an opportunity to read this book and provide my feedback.
This was a light read book and was very enjoyable.
To help a friend Juliet ends up being a seat filler and this is where she meets the actor Noah Douglas. The romance between them is good. Some bit of the book were funny.
If you want a book that doesn’t tax your brain this is a go to book for a nice read.
