I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. I really enjoyed this book and intend to read more from the author
Rob Edmunds shines a light on the Punic Wars through the eyes of Masinissa; Ally of Carthage. Masinissa is a Numidian prince who fights alongside Carthage in the Spanish wars against Rome. The reader gets an unusual view of the time period through the eyes of someone who is neither Carthaginian or Roman.. Worth reading.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this amazing two books.
I love history and I did not know about Masinissa and this book was a great way to discover an important and kinda unknown character.
The writing style is very good but I struggled a bit in the beginning because it has no dialogue which can demotivate a reader.
I think the author made a great job in research and creating in his imagination what would be like to be Masinissa.
I really enjoy historical fiction, so when the chance came to read "Masinissa: Ally of Carthage" I jumped at it. I struggled in the beginning as it felt more like a historical romance, but I stuck with it and wasn't entirely disappointed. The writing is very good, but I found the characters to be a little bit weak, and the plot felt hazy. I haven't been discouraged from reading the second book.
My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.
