Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Wanted to enjoy this book, but the atrocious copy I landed here (I use the Send to Kindle feature, and half the words had 2 consecutive letters missing in the file, making this read impossible) The information also felt very repetitive, from what I could read, though it could've been helpful in the big scheme of things

Rating 3.5 Stars

The How Not to Diet Cookbook is divided into 9 chapters:
- Soups
- Salads
- Pasta
- Mainly Vegetables
- Beans
- Grains
- Breakfast
- Fruit
- Kitchen Staples

The introduction suggests foods you should eat every day. Some appear odd such as incorporating vinegar with each meal or sensible such as drink water before each meal or having some ground ginger, nigella seeds, garlic powder each day.

The recipes themselves are in both metric and imperial measurements. It lets you know how many portions it is going to make and what level of difficulty it is to create. It does not contain the nutritional information alongside the recipes which surprised me.

Overall it's an interesting book of recipes to follow if you like meat-free eating.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

I liked the idea of this however the format of the version I received made it almost impossible to read

Sadly I have to agree with other reviewers in that this is quite an odd and difficult book to read from the copy that was given. You have to keep guessing and working out what the words should or could be. Got on my nerves after a while and that is such a shame as from what I did get from the book it was very interesting and definitely worth investing in. Sadly this version was not worth investing in.

Thank you Netgalley.

I loved the idea of this and thought it might be what I was looking for. Unfortunately the quality of the proof did not allow this to happen.

Well written book which lays out clearly one of the best ways to lose weight - a wholefood healthy diet.

In the first part of the book Michael uncovers why many people are so unhealthy and overweight or obese. Then he presents the answer - and shows that eating a wholefood diet means that if you choose good nutritious food you can eat more, not less. He introduces 21 weight loss accelerators & tweaks. to help you.

The tone of the book is one that sympathises and understands why you may be struggling with weight, (hint: it's not your fault, many of us live in an obesogenic environment; although we can become enlightened about the triggers and choose to change)..

If you have weight to lose and would like to eat a more plant-based and healthy diet, this would be a good book to read.

Unfortunately, I am unable to review this book fully as my version has too many errors and missing words. I tried to persevere but trying to full in the gaps was too frustrating.
I would advise the publisher to look again at the digital copy.

I found this book hard to read because of the poor quality of text and missing letters in the words.
I had hoped to try some of the recipes in the book to see if they help with weight loss.

PUBLISHER’S DESCRIPTION:

From Michael Greger, M.D., the author of the New York Times bestseller How Not to Die, comes a full-color, fully illustrated cookbook that shares the science of long-term weight-loss success.

Greger offers readers delicious yet healthy options that allow them to ditch the idea of 'dieting' altogether. As outlined in his book How Not to Diet, Greger believes that identifying the twenty-one weight-loss accelerators in our bodies and incorporating new, cutting-edge medical discoveries are integral in putting an end to the all-consuming activity of counting calories and getting involved in expensive juice cleanses and Weight Watchers schemes.

The How Not to Diet Cookbook is a revolutionary addition to the cookbook industry: incredibly effective and designed for everyone looking to make changes to their dietary habits to improve their quality of life.

Having been plant based for 45 years, 30 of those vegan, I am familiar with Dr Michael Greger and his approach to eating well. I have his “How Not to Die” and “How Not to Die Cookbook” so was keen to take a look at this latest book, a companion cookbook to the previous “How Not to Diet”. (Bit of a theme in the titles there!)

The book follows the usual format, beginning with an introduction of the science, the philosophy and a some tips. The recipes are then categorised as expected…soups, salads, pasta, grains etc. There is a section of basic staples and a section of cooking charts…all useful stuff.

The recipes themselves are superb, well photographed and easy to follow; we loved the few we tried. However, even though I am a big fan of Dr Greger, the introduction, for me, is muddled, confusing and best skipped. I do not consider this a diet book but it is a collection of wonderful recipes and worth it for that alone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the complimentary copy of the book, which I have voluntarily reviewed.

I would really have liked to review this book, unfortunately the quality of the document sent is appalling.
A lot of letters ( I meant really a lot!) are missing and there are many layout oddities, thus making the reading-and reviewing- process very painful.
It is a pity but I have to give up my attempt to review due to the above-mentioned issues.
I will obviously not publish my review on Amazon as I do hope the quality of the book will be acceptable by the time it is put on the market.
As I need to write a 100 words for this non review:
My lone star cannot be for the book itself but for what I got access to. I downloaded the copy on 2 different devices, with the same unacceptable result.
Really sorry for Dr Greger !

I am changing my diet and trying to reduce my weight plus reduce inflammation foods and sugar. This book was really useful and I liked the fact that it came with pictures.

I learnt some new ideas which I hadn't realised - nigella seeds so did a bit of investigating and now have started using them.

I have also found a few new favourite recipes which I have started marking regularly inc carrots and chickpeas; and some soups.
The language was well written and easy to understand.

I was given an advance copy of the book by netgalley in exchange for an honest and fair review.

The How Not To Diet Cookbook - Michael Greger

I'm always looking for new healthy recipes to try so was super excited to get approved for this book. First off I would like to point out that there are pictures with all the recipes which is great for someone who needs the visual when trying something new (like me). There are plenty of new things that I want to try out and I love how colourful they all look.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Publishers for giving me chance to read and review this book!
