Something more than a simple index or outline of prehistoric time periods and dinosaurs, I found this very readable and interesting. Personally I would have liked a few more illustrations and diagrams but that doesn't detract from the book generally. There's more information here than in many dinosaur books for children, so I would say for those who are starting to want to expand their knowledge but aren't quite ready for adult books on the subject. This definitely fills a gap.
