Samantha has just opened a hedgehog rescue with the support and aid of her vet boyfriend Josh. Not long again Sam was badly injured in an arson attack on the farm whilst she was trying to save some of the prickly patients and it appears the perpetrators may be having a few last goes before they are sentenced. Josh has his own issues- his ex- girlfriend Beth is now pregnant for the second time- the father being his own father who was seeing her behind Josh’s back several years ago and then left his mother and the business. Josh was close to his father and now understandably feels very betrayed by him. I enjoyed this however there are some very real issues involved which others may find upsetting or disturbing. For me, if you make your bed…..you know the saying. Forgiveness is not for everyone and whilst I admire the sentiment some may find this difficult to read about. A lovely story with some very hard hitting issues contained within the story. One to ponder and although a wonderful story it is one to reflect on.

Sam has just opened her new Hedgehog rescue center and with her partner Josh by her side life is good.
However there are some clouds on Sam’s horizon, she is still not able to have a proper relationship with her mum. Chloe, her cousin, seems happy only when Sam isn't and Josh’s ex keeps turning up unexpectedly. Juggling her full time teaching at Tech. and running the rescue center isn’t easy and Sam is starting to burn herself out.
Sam needs to work out what is really important in her life and focus on what and who she loves the most.
I laughed and cried reading this and I learned a lot about Hedgehogs! Such a lovely book, I can't wait for the next one!
I really enjoyed Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow, so I was thrilled to receive a review copy of this book.
It was a joy to return to the lovely characters and setting that I so enjoyed before. Samantha and Josh have such a lot thrown at them in this book, and there are so many emotional moments, but somehow it is written in a way that I can cope with (I normally avoid anything remotely emotional). I think it’s the fact that their love for each other remains steady, and they always support one another to make the right decisions. Importantly, they allow each other to make their own decisions, and just provide support.
I absolutely love the hedgehog sanctuary, and hearing about all the patients. The cover and the little hedgehog at the top of each chapter are charming. I love the idea of the bench by the meadow.
This book has two POVs, which can be confusing. However, it works really well, allowing us to explore some of Josh’s past and difficulties in more detail. It was really helpful that the POV was named at the top of each chapter.
Overall, this story has been a wonderful and charming escape from real life. The ending was beautiful, and the way that Samantha and Josh’s love stays strong throughout all their problems is lovely. Just be aware that it’s a little more emotional than my usual reads.
I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really enjoy this authors books and this was no exception, fantastic storyline, great characters. Loved it.
This is the second book in the Hedgehog Hollow series and opened with a helpful introduction (or recap) to the characters and story so far - which was a nice touch. These also really set the scene of what to expect as seemingly in the previous book main character, Sam's, boyfriend married her cousin, her current partner, Josh's, dad was having an affair with his then girlfriend and literally every other character was either blood related or coincidentally related to each other through circumstance. And, the drama continued in this one with Josh even saying at one point "Life is certainly chaotic at the moment".
There's obviously going to be a part three but I liked that all the drama wasn't unrealistically wrapped up in a ridiculously short time frame, some things were left dealt with but open so to speak. I also loved that even though the storyline was full-on drama from start to finish, the author writes with such charm and ease that it was still a light-hearted, feel-good tale. For example, the drama of Josh seeing his ex for the first time was somewhat diffused by the fact that he was wearing a hedgehog costume at the time. It was also a great mix of human drama with animal cuteness and I particularly loved the hedgehog rescue element.
Well where do you start with this book. I loved it. It covered every subject jealousy, love children and so on. I loved the bench where Sam sat . All the hedgehog descriptions were lovely. I learnt a lot. How Sam and Josh let Beth and Josh's father move in was amazing. You have to read it. Can not wait for book 3
It was a well written romantic comedy, the characters were all great. The story was also well written with a sequel to happen.
Thank you for the advanced copy.
On reading the description realised I was best hunting out the first one in the series.
I found this to be a real light hearted read needed in times like this. I love how it has developed and look forward to the next one.
Wonderful! I have been working my way through Jessica’s books, they’re beautifully written and really champion a good character. It felt wonderfully indulgent to sink back into Hedgehog Hollow and catch up with the goings on. Perfect sequel, great plot and as always written very well. I’m excited for the next one now.
I have loved the author's previous books and enjoyed the first in this series. However I think this should have remained at one book. This one was cringeworthy and had nothing to add, just padding. Very disappointed.
Was disappointed with this book and think it would have been better not to try and make this into a series. The first should have been a standalone or like the other series perhaps concentrate on a different character. On it's own it's an ok book but having loved the author's other work this did not meet my expectations.
Oh my gosh I loved this book I couldn't put it down.
The story is brilliant and I love the fact it doesn't just revolve around 1 couple.
But I also love that there was no yucky ness, like they had affairs or break ups all the way through.
Please can we have another one number 3 please I so wanna know what's next
A good second installment. I'd strongly suggest reading book 1 first. This story is told alternately from Josh and Sam's perspective which i though improved the story. A light, fun read.
This book is fabulous. I love the relationship between Sam and Josh and how it is growing into something more. How the arrival of new Hedgehogs all with different ailments bring family, friends and even strangers to help to care for them. How Sam gives them all a name, gives them the best care they could ever receive but still has reservations that she doesn’t give enough. Within this story, Sam finds out more about why her mother is so unloving and distant and begins to slowly realise that it is nothing to do with her.. However that doesn’t stop Sam questioning herself. I love this book and cannot wait for the next one
A fabulous cover for a fabulous read!
I totally adore this series, they just get better.
Samantha now has the Hedgehog rescue centre up and running whilst still juggling a full time job and someone is still set out to destroy Hedgehog Hollow.
Herself and Josh are now in love and we find out more about Josh's family and the estranged relationship with his father Paul.
I love the way the chapters flowed between the POV from Samantha and Josh and with the cute Hedgehogs.
Jessica wrote in her acknowledgements that this was the hardest to write, but to me by far one of the best books Jessica has written.
Full of drama, love, family and friendships a total joy to devour.
A big fat 5 hedgehogs from me 🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔
I’m glad I had read the first book in the series before reading this one. Sam is a very likeable main character who puts everyone and everything before herself. I really enjoyed finding out about the work and commitment in helping injured hedgehogs
I’m hoping there will be third book in the series. I couldn’t put this book down and got really involved in Sam and Josh and their families.
I received an advance copy of, New Arrivals at Hedgehog Hollow, by Jessica Redland. The characters were ok, the setting was ok. It was a bit boring and blah.
Another fantastic journey back to Hedgehog Hollow! I loved the first one and the character of Sam! The last book made me so emotional and I felt a connection to her through my own childhood issues. She is such a lovely person and seeing her face problem after problem with such fire was awe inspiring! What I loved about this story was we got to learn more about Josh and his family issues and boy is there many! The support he and Sam give each other strengthens their bond! I can’t wait for the next instalment
I'm glad that I picked up the first book in this series, because it forms an important background for this book. This is definitely not your typical romance as one of the major story lines deals with parental estrangement for both Samantha and Josh. There is lots of information about hedgehogs and running an animal rescue charity. Interesting and engaging characters; a very enjoyable read.
In this second instalment we follow Sammie and Josh as they navigate their relationship while the hedgehogs start arriving at the rescue centre. However there are many complications, Sammie and her Mothers relationship is over, the continued targeting of the farm by vandals and news from Josh’s Dad shakes everyone up. But there is no stopping the community spirit and lifelong friendships Sammie has cultivated.
I adore this book series, the topics dealt with are gritty and sometimes heartbreaking. Yet the laughter is plentiful and the connection the characters have is beautiful. I am anxiously awaiting the next book.
