Jessie Keane is one of my favourite Gangland writers, she never fails to write a gripping page turning novel. Friends since young Charlie and Terry, their friendship continues through life until Charlie's adopted son starts to cause trouble. With friction growing what will the outcome be for the families, will the friendship last the argusments.

It's been a while since I've read a Jessie Keane book and I'd forgotten how good they were! This is deffinatly not one for the fainthearted!
A really gritty story predominantly based around two families growing up and becoming big in the underworld drugs trade.
This book has a bit of everything really, it is gruesome and very addictive, will definitely be recommending it.

Charlie Stone and Terry Barton have been the best of friends since they were young children. Now growing up and married they rule the Manor.
They would give their lives for each other and are more like brothers.
Charlie wants a son to bring up to carry on his empire, but sadly he gets a daughter Milly. After discussing it with his wife Nula they decide to go down the adoption route for a little boy just to make sure.
Enter Harlan, he immediately takes a liking to Terry's daughter Belle and has some very disturbing habits which are becoming more and more noticeable.
Wow-what a book, Crime coming out of its pages, in parts it took my breath away, It grips you and keeps you interested in the story.
Jessie has outdone herself with this one. I have read all of her books and this one is the tops for me.
A real cracker of a book.
Thank you so much, NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this brilliant book. xx

The Manor is the latest gangland thriller from bestseller Jessie Keane and is a gritty gangland novel featuring the Stone family set in London and moves seamlessly between the 1950s and 1980s. The narrative begins in the 1950s with 9-year-old Charlie Stone in the process of being arrested after raiding the greengrocers and throwing apples and pears over the fence to his mates alongside lifelong partner in crime Terry Barton. Luckily, they both manage to scarper. Charlie is head of the Charlie Boys gang. As a form of initiation, Bill ’Beezer’ and Col Crowley were given the task of stealing a half-pound box of chocolates from the sweet shop both of their fathers owned if they wanted to be part of the gang. The two would carry on with their petty theft, TWOCing from people (pickpocketing) and vehicles, each time taking the goodies back to Charlie for inspection. At 14, teenage Charlie discovers new opportunities for theft and the gang start stealing cars and raiding houses for jewellery. Charlie and Terry made a pact that they will have each others backs all the way to running the manor and they did exactly that. Fast forward another 5 years, into the 1960s, and Charlie’s not only well-off and dangerous enough to have gained the attention of notorious Scottish loan shark Gordie Howard but the Maltese who currently run the manor understand they need to watch out for him too.

It's at age 19 when he first meets his bride to be 17-year-old Nula Perkins when she falls for Terry. But when she borrows money from Charlie for plastic surgery on her nose she becomes aware of the life of luxury she could lead with him and pursues him over Terry for this very reason. Eventually, Charlie gets into the drugs trade, travelling all over the world to both establish connections with suppliers and test out their products to bring home. The gang are making substantial amounts of money from buying the raw materials then cooking and distributing primarily crack cocaine on the mean streets on London’s East End and are now in charge of the manor. Charlie and Nula start a family and bring daughter Milly into the world but Charlie longs for a son to take over from him when he retires from this line of work. Unable to conceive they decide to adopt Harlan, the son of a deceased drug addict but he turns out to be their worst nightmare becoming obsessed with Terry’s daughter Belle Barton which threatens to cause a feud between the two families. This is a riveting and addictive domestic drama as much as it is a gangland thriller and these two aspects come together to create a twisty, exciting and heart-pumping read. Thrown into the action right from the opening page, we are taken through the decades with the Stone family and their intense trials and tribulations. Highly recommended.

This is a tale of gangsters, drugs, violence and loyalty and another really good read by Jessie Keane. Fans will love this book as it has suspense, is fast paced and full of interesting new characters. Charlie is the head of the crime family and is very unlikeable, along with Harlan his adopted son. It's a compulsive read and sure to be a best seller. My thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

A gritty gangland thriller that I really enjoyed.
This book reminded me of Martina Cole’s earlier books as it’s set across different timelines and you see the characters develop.
Charlie Stone is head of the Manor and seems to be unstoppable in the crime world. He meets Nula and his life seems complete.
They have a daughter but Charlie is desparate for a son to take over the business but Nula can’t have any more children.
Charlie and his men come across a dead woman in a run down place and see a young boy cowering in the corner. Charlie knows he can be his son so tricks Nula in to thinking they’ve adopted him, and Harlan is then part of their lives.
Nula suddenly falls pregnant and has a boy so Harlan is pushed out of Charlie’s affections and he is not happy.
Terry and his family live on the same land and their daughter, Belle is best friends with Charlie’s daughter Millie, and Harlan is jealous of this too. As they get older, Harlan wants Belle but he makes her skin crawl.
Harlan has no feelings and soon is wreaking havoc.
Lives are lost and it’s all down to Harlan.
I won’t say what happens in the last part of the book as it needs to be read as it happens, and the aftermath of this is a great ending to the book.
This is a great gangland crime thriller
Thanks to Pan MacMillan and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I’d like to thank Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Manor’ by Jessie Keane in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Charlie Stone together with best friend Terry Barton and loyal gang of ‘Charlie’s Boys’ starts off with the minor crime of theft from houses and cars until he’s bringing in, cooking and distributing drugs on the streets of London’s East End, taking over from the gang he ousted and running the Manor. Along with his wife Nula and daughter Milly they take a dead addict’s boy, Harlan, into their family who Charlie raises to take over the family business in the future. But Harlan is weird and ruthless with cold grey eyes and he can’t be trusted.

‘The Manor’ is the saga of the Stone family, Charlie who’ll do anything despite the pain it causes if he can make money, Nula his deeply unhappy wife who’s seduced by a life of luxury but thinks she’s going mad, and their withdrawn daughter Milly who’ll let anyone use her if it gives her the love she desperately craves. Jessie Keane has written a gritty and compelling thriller that’s bloodthirsty and grisly, with drama, suspense and intrigue, and an ending that’s gruesome but so deserved that I was practically rubbing my hands together with glee. This is a thoroughly enjoyable gangland thriller that I can unreservedly recommend.

A Gangland thriller that charts the rise of Charlie Stone from the 1950’s to the 1980’s as he takes over The Manor in London’s East End.
With his gang, including his best mate Terry Barton, they start off stealing cars and robbing houses and end up cooking and distributing crack cocaine.
He might be the King of The Manor, but he has a deeply unhappy wife, an introverted daughter and a ruthless adopted son who’s out to steal his crown.
Jesse Keane had me engrossed from the first chapter and I loved this fast paced, gritty thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for this ARC in return for an honest review.

As soon as I started the book I was quickly drawn into the story and hooked to what was happening. I loved the characters, they were very realistic, believable and I enjoyed the tense storyline.
Jessie Keane is one of the best crime thriller writers around today, she really knows how to grab the readers attention and keep them hooked throughout.

If you like the books of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Jacqui Rose you'll love Jessie Keane's books and this one is a corker! The Manor introduces a new set of families in what I am hoping will be the start of a series of books as it is ripe for a follow up. Charlie Stone is an imminently unlikeable character, his wife isn't too pleasant either (but I ended up feeling quite sorry for her), their daughter has her own troubles and Harlen..... well he's clearly a psychopath. All in all they are an intriguing family living the high life off the back of their criminal undertakings. I really hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book as this was was so fast paced and enjoyable it left me wanting more.

Huge, Huge Jesse Keane fan here. I have read all her books and know to expect a gripping read. This book is one of the best I have read this year, my goodness 'keane can write a damn good book. Wow is pretty much all I want to say. Absolutely loved this book. It was gripping, thrilling and interesting but there was just something about this book that made it so easy and enjoyable to read. I flew through this book in no time. Something I regret the minute I've finished it, I should have tried to make it last longer but I just couldn't.

The enemy is close to home in The Manor, a gripping gangland thriller from the top five bestseller Jessie Keane.

Charlie Stone and his Best mate form childhood Terry Barton grew up in the East End. Becoming part of the criminal underworld at a young age. Charlie and Terry have always stood together.
They have gone through the good and bad together and continue to do so now they are well known faces. They both marry and both have a family, but problems start when it's revealed after the birth of their daughter, Charlies wife cannot have any more children. Wanting a Son to complete their family the go down the adoption route. This is when things really start to go wrong for Charlie and his family.
It seems that Charlies adopted son Harlen is out for trouble, right from a young age he thinks he's the one to take over from charlie.
Harlen is also fixate with Belle, Terry's daughter, he wants her and he doesn't belive he should be brushed off. As things begun to unfold you know what ever happens it's going to be trouble. Trouble is what it is, a nightmare for the two families will follow.
Can Harlan take what he belives should be his, or will the familes be able to get through it all.
Another book that is so difficult to review without giving spoilers. Everything about this book is gripping, breathtaking and nail biting. All the ususal cleches but all true. I could not put this book down, Jessie has excelled herself with this book. It's alway a worry when authors have done so many books that they start to go off the boil a little, this certainly isn't the case with Jesse Keane, she can engage the reader and reel them in right from the begininning fo the book. What a ride this one is . Bravo, can't wait for more.

Charlie Stone and Terry Barton have been mates since they were young. They would do anything for each other and always have each other’s backs. As they get older Charlie starts to make a name for himself, taking over The Manor from the ‘old school’ boys. Whilst both men settle down to family life, they continue to expand Charlie’s empire, using a genuine business as a front for their seedy business ventures.
The Stone family starts to develop cracks and Charlie’s adopted son, Harlan begins to take a very unhealthy interest in the family business. He will stop at nothing to get to the top and will destroy anything that gets in his way. That includes Terry’s daughter Belle, who he has been taking an unhealthy interest in for years. Belle must fight for survival.
Jessie Keane never fails to deliver the goods. She is a ‘go to’ author, who's books you never have to read the synopsis of, to know it’s going to be a brilliant read. This book has everything you come to expect from Jessie’s books, it’s gripping, compulsive and edge of the seat reading. I was not surprised to find that I thoroughly enjoyed it and stayed up until the early hours to finish it.

The only thing I can say at this point is WOW!!

I’ve just finished The Manor and once again loved every single page! Jessie Keane has mastered the knack of capturing the reader’s attention and sucking them in completely. I hope this is the start of a new series, as I’m not quite ready to let go just yet!

I absolutely loved each and every page of it. Jessie Keane is one of my favourite authors and this book certainly did not disappoint. Full of twists and turns, I was hooked from the get go. Following the lives of the Stone family and their associates through the decades, this book is full of intrigue and suspense. 10 out of 10.

Jessie Keane has excelled herself with this her most exciting thriller to date.
Charlie Stone and Terry Barton have been best mates since forever - Charlie being the bossy and hard nosed of the two with Terry as his wingman. Growing up in London’s east end they started their criminal career early pinching fruit, pick pockets etc but Charlie always wanted more he wanted it all and wasn’t about to let anyone get in his way.
Both men got married and they both had a daughter, by this time they were living it up in the country - Charlie in the big mansion house and Terry in the gatehouse on the estate.
Terry is content with the lifestyle they have achieved and makes sure their ‘manor’ runs smoothly but Charlie is never satisfied always pushing the boundaries to increase his wealth.
No spoilers so all I’ll say is the scene is set and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Fast and gripping from the 1950's through to the 1980's London, Charlie Stone and Terry Barton, Charlie rules the business The Manor it's all his, the Charlie boys mean business starting off with nicking cars and housebreaking and raking in the cash, they were well and truly taking over then head into protection club owners. Nula Perkins borrows money from Charlie for plastic surgery then paying him back in kind, its Terry she yearns for, but Charlie was showing her a life of luxury, and she laps it all up becoming Mrs Stone. This is one of a hell of a slap bang read that readers will love as we are taking through the wealthy life style and how it is earned up to their kids growing up to take over the business. I was well and truly stuck right into this book, and it's well deserved the stars. absolutely brilliant
