This was such a delightful read, I genuinely enjoyed every aspect and would recommend this to so many young readers.
An amazing book where real life meets fantasy and blends so well you are not sure what is a real and what isn’t.
A great adventure about finding yourself when your feel life is out of your depth.
Now that I've read a couple, I realise that there are no two Nicola Skinner books the same yet they each share a similarly bonkers idea as a premise that in any other writer's hands just couldn't work but Skinner is a MASTER at pulling off the improbable and making it work in the maddest, most wonderful way. I thoroughly enjoyed this, not quite as much as Storm, but enough to be enthusiastic in my recommendation of it.
A fabulous adventure, a great read-aloud for year 4 or for children in years 5-8 to read to themselves. Useful for classes studying the Victorians, seafaring etc. And for promoting resilience..
