This is the first Lucy Coleman book I have read, but certainly will not be the last. A really heartwarming story of love, community, family, friendship and secrets. A few twists along the way, some of which I didn't see coming. I loved the main characters of Immi, Gray and Tolly, along with the rest of the village. It was actually a welcome change that the story already had a romantic couple in it, rather than a story of finding love. I found that really refreshing. I loved it, and was sorry when it ended, always the sign of a good book!!
After losing both her parents at a young age, Imogene went to live with her grandfather, Tollie. Her new home in a lock keeper’s cottage is filled with the magic created by her very special grandfather, the same man who plays Santa Claus to the village children each year. As an adult, Immi meets Gray Adams, and sure he’s the “one”, the two begin to plan the most romantic Christmas blowout the village has ever known. But as festive flurries turn into an all out blizzard, all their plans are in jeopardy. Scott will whisk you away from the dreary headlines and into a magical world of happily ever after
Adorable story set around Christmas. It's the perfect audiobook to snuggle up with hot chocolate. It was so nice to be transported away to a normal, uplifting place amid lockdown. People of all ages coming together to make Christmas the best ever. Loved the intergenerational friendships. I fell in love with all the characters. They were so relatable. Some tender moments as they discover the history of lock keepers cottage. I loved it.
So.... This is slightly embarrassing but turns out I had already received this ebook a few months a go and until I went into to goodreads to add it I had totally forgotten. The reason I had forgotten is because I marked it as DNF at 27%
So this time I powered through it and finished it. The story is very mellow and not a whole lot happens. It is not a book I think I will remember again in a few more months time. But I appreciate you sending it to me.
I have just finished the audio book of Christmas at Lockkeepers Cottage and Lucy Coleman has written a heart warming festive read about life in Ayesbury in the Cotswolds.
We meet Immi who is dealing with a long distance relationship with Gray and who also makes a meaningful friendship with Mrs Price which I found I enjoyed listening to.
I also enjoyed the Santa Ahoy Christmas Cruises where Tollie plays an excellent Santa Claus for the children - all very Christmassy indeed!
This is a charming book that drifts along at a gentle pace narrated by Lucy Scott and David Thorpe who do a marvellous job at inviting you into Lucy’s world.
