Thoroughly enjoyed reading about Audrey’s way of escaping her broken engagement. She was a District Nurse and took on a temporary post on a Scottish Island, she just needed a job and somewhere to live over the festive period. A lovely festive read which would be enjoyable anytime of the year too. Well written with just the right amount of romance.

Utterly delightful Christmas story, and the small community feel and the GP-vibe of it just made it even more entertaining (got a big vibe if the TV show Doc Martin here - except island in Scotland v/s beachy Cornwall) I was worried Audrey as on the rebound and was thus curious to see how the author would handle that. I need not have worried, because the love between Audrey and Cooper was just so organic and inevitable. This was pure delight and lovely escapism

This is an engaging, heartwarming romance between two people who are not looking for romance, finding themselves on a Scottish island. I loved the island characters. They were so real and believable. A great festive read.

Audrey decides to take a job on a small Scottish island in order to get away from having to deal with her fiancés betrayal feeling a bit battered and bruised she doesn’t expect the handsome santa that meets her off the boat to be her new work colleague.

Dr Cooper MacAskill has returned to the island after a long time away and has his own demons to face. After a disaster at the surgery Cooper finds himself offering Audrey a place to stay in the short term. Both have their prickles and barbs which leads to a fair few arguments and misunderstandings, whilst the attraction they both noticed that first night starts to grow.

Both characters were well written and I liked that they both had their own flaws and issued to overcome. The other residents on Bourtree Island give more depth to the place and the story giving it a real and relatable feel. There were some parts of the story where I did have to stop myself from rolling my eyes but only because they were a little bit too sweet for my palate.

I did enjoy this story even though I found some parts of the story a bit much and I did get a bit frustrated with Cooper and Audrey for being harsh one minute and full of remorse the next. They both seemed to suffer with a certain amount of Jekyll and Hyde but if you can put that aside then this is a light hearted easy going read which will brighten up a Sunday afternoon.

I liked this book immensely. The setting is well described and the characters realistic and likeable. The story is a romantic and emotional one with the two characters emotionally damaged. The story is well mapped and executed. Thanks you

When Audrey walks in on the man she is about to marry getting merry with an elf, she packs up her life and runs as far as she can get which is Bourtree in Scotland, but when she is met off the boat by a dashing santa claus she begins to wonder whether she has made a huge mistake and jumped from one problem straight into another.
Cooper MacAskill is also running, but from his childhood, his parents were the town drumks and he feels like he will never be able to escape his past and the mistakes of his parents, but now back on the island and stepping in as the town doctor he needs to make the biggest decision of his life, escape back to the mainland or stay on the island forever.
As christmas nears, Audrey slowly brings Cooper back to the present and makes him start to feel like he can make a new start, But can they help each other to a new start in time for Christmas

This is an atmospheric festive romance set on a remote Scottish isle. Christmas cheer is the last thing Audrey feels when she discovers her fiance with another woman, weeks before the wedding she paid for. Heartbroken and in need of cash, she takes a District Nurse locum role as she reassesses her life goals. Cooper grew up on the island. Grieving over his grandmother's death, he feels guilty and wary of the islanders' reception.

The author believably creates the island world with a relatable cast of characters within the community. The romance and spectacle of the Northern Lights engage the readers' senses and immerse them in the setting. Audrey and Cooper learn more about themselves and each other in this gentle romance with a well researched medical theme.

This is a heartwarming, festive medical romance.

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Audrey has come to Bourtree Castle, a Scottish island village, as a cover for the islands nurse, the doctor she works with is Cooper who grew up on Bourtree and doesn’t have the best memories of his time
Audrey is running away from her life in London, she caught her fiancée cheating on her and knew she needed to get away and Scotland seemed a good choice. I loved how Audrey developed throughout the book to become more self confident and her care for her patients came through so strongly. She manages to find the space and time she needs to think about what she really wants in life. Although the story comes from Audrey and Coopers points of view you could feel the love the islanders have for her coming through and how they welcome her into their community
Cooper also learns a lot about himself throughout the book and it allows his confidence to grow. He may have at times had a difficult past but the islanders accept him as their new doctor, although there are some teething problems on the way! I did struggle with Cooper at times, I think my main issue was his how much he kept bottled inside which affected him and made him at times a more difficult character to understand
I loved the setting of this book, a remote island off of Scotland where the lack of light pollution allows the Northern Lights to shine through which felt magical and made me adore it even more. I think part of the appeal is actually the islanders themselves, the brought the setting alive and made the story work so well
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance where the main characters have to overcome emotional adversity but in an amazing setting which will keep you turning the page

You’ll not go far wrong for me setting a romance on a remote Scottish island and centralising it around a christmas loving doctor and a district nurse channeling her inner grinch. Heartwarming with a lovely cast of characters, the romance could have been tighter but overall enjoyable.

3.5 stars.

District nurse Audrey Walsh feels the need to get as far away from London as possible after discovering her fiancé is cheating on her. She heads to the Isle of Bourtree in Scotland where she meets island doctor Cooper MacAskill, a man with his own troubled past. Together they heal the sick and, eventually, heal their own hearts.

This is a lovely, festive romance and I really enjoyed reading it. The main characters of Audrey and Cooper are well-rounded, relatable and likeable, and I was really rooting for them to get together. The islanders made lovely secondary characters with stories of their own.

I would definitely recommend this to fans of festive romances.

This was a really enjoyable book,

Audrey is a nurse who has been getting by in life, and then she finds her fiancée with an elf in their flat just weeks before their wedding. Homeless and humiliated she takes a job working on a remote Scottish island covering for the district nurse who is away visiting her daughter in Australia .

Cooper is a doctor who came from a remote Scottish island and ended up working in a large impersonal hospital in Glasgow. Following the death of his beloved grandmother Cooper returns home to the island to deal with a lot of emotional baggage, whilst there he is supporting the local doctor doing rounds with the temporary nurse.

The storyline is good and the characters you really start to understand where they are coming from, you know the end before you get there but the journey is worth it, the side stories are good with the villagers and the pitfalls of staying in a remote island.

As a said a very enjoyable book, worth a read.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley in turn for an honest review.

Feel good, Christmassy loveliness! Really enjoyed it. Great characters who I really warmed too. Well written with a lovely ending. Highly recommend to get you in to the Christmas spirit.

Really enjoyable read, I like this author but she never really hits the romance aspect of the story, which is what lacked in this one. It was hard to sense their ages as at times they both acted like older people and then juveniles too. Still wasn't a struggle and I would read more from Annie in the future.

Audrey is running away from the disaster that is her life in London. Finding her fiancé cheating on her under the Christmas tree ust weeks before they were due to marry on Christmas Eve. Without a man in her life, homeless and in five weeks jobless too she heads to Bourntree Castle for a locum district nurse position.

Cooper is back on Bourntree following the death of his Gran. Having grown up in the island he headed to the mainland to be a doctor and made excuses for not heading back sooner. Thrown together over the festive season as they make house calls together whilst he decides whether or not to take over the GP position.

Both harbouring issues, they find a way to help each other overcome things. Working alongside each other for the good of the patients and finding themselves pulled together.

An easy festive read without any big surprises or drama.

This was a very nice story, well-executed, and well written. I liked the hero and heroine Audrey and Coop both had baggage from their past but found a new start on their Scottish island at Christmas. I liked the way the author created a community and used it as the backdrop for the developing romance. A lovely read. 4 stars
