So I think this book was my least favorite that I've read so far from Erica Ridley. I'm always open to giving her books a read so I won't stop reading her books for sure. I just felt like this one fell flat. It wasn't bad or horrible, it just personally wasn't my favorite and wasn't for me. I felt like Olive really got on my nerves a lot. Her attitude was really defensive, and honestly it got old so fast for me. Eli was a bit more likable, but I felt like he wasn't that memorable. Overall I will definitely be reading more from Erica Ridley, these novellas just don't seem to be doing it for me.
I received a complimentary copy of Ten Days with a Duke in exchange for an honest review. I read this as a standalone, and didn't feel like I missed anything. I really enjoyed this novel, and after reading a previous flop by Erica Ridley, I was glad to see she redeemed herself with Ten Days with a Duke. I really enjoyed the twist involving Olive's humiliating kiss. I was so grateful, Elijah was just as much victim of his father as Olive was, This was definitely worth reading.
I enjoyed this enemies to lovers story! It’s a trope I tend to enjoy! I was entertained throughout and definitely rooted for Olive and Elijah to get their HEA. If you’re a fan of the genre I definitely recommend
I love Erica Ridley novels, most of her 12 Dukes of Christmas series I enjoyed but this wasn't one of them. It took me 3 times to actually get into the book. The story premise is good, nothing new for a romance novel, pretty predicable. I did enjoy the banter between Olive and Elijah and I did think it great that a hearing impaired character was included. But the entire way the story was outlined was boring to me and the synopsis pretty much told me everything I needed to know.
I do think it is worth a read, particularly if you've read the rest of the series (although this is completely a stand alone story). 4 stars because this author is such a good one and just because this story failed to capture me is not her fault. I did receive an advanced copy in exchange for a review.
This book is sad, but yet happy. It is about forgiveness and overcoming differences.
It may not seem like it at the beginning of the book, however, it is a wonderful book of second or even third chances.
Elijah Weston is a cad or at least it seems that way. When he was young, he kissed Olive and humiliated her. She does not want to forgive and forget. So when Elijah comes knocking on her door with a marriage license she decides she wants no part of it. Unfortunately, she will lose her beloved stud farm if she chooses not to marry him.
Elijah does not want to marry to gain a stud farm, he likes horticulture. He prefers plants to animals and honestly, he is afraid of horses. When he is forced to do his father's bidding and present himself as an eligible groom to Olive, he does his duty.
As the full light of the plan comes out, someone will be hurt. The double cross that will happen may surprise you, however it may not. I enjoyed reading this book.
I love this series and this book did not disappoint. Olive is smart and witty but also got her heart broken by the one person she is not suppose to love. Elijah is bookish and at first I didnt see the appeal to Olve but that changed the longer I read. It was cool to read about sign language in this story because my Uncle is deaf and uses sign language.
Really enjoyed this action packed, emotionally thrilling journey filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and exciting turns. Was a great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down.
This was an enjoyable Regency Romance and just what I needed after watching Bridgerton. It was a grand enemies to lovers romance, and I adored the characters of Olive and Elijah. The plot was very good and kept me engaged.
Many thanks to WebMotion and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Erica Ridley books are my guilty pleasure.
This is a an enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance between Olive and Eli. An incident between them left Olive insecure and they became enemies.
The first half was a bit slow but it picked up. I LOVED that there was a deaf person!
I loved this book set with feuding family and a truce that leads to marriage. Olive and Elijah make had great chemistry and steam. This was my first Erica Ridley book and will keep a look out for her other works.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love Erica Ridley books and this series is going to be one of my comfort reads for a while. Ten Days with a Duke is an enemies-to-lovers where the hero is not an alpha in search of justice or revenge but a really nice guy with genuine feelings for the heroine. The story moves along fast enough (they only have ten days - wink) and the outcome is very satisfying. As always, a bit more heat would not go amiss .
This was a quick, fun read. It is the 11th book in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series although I haven't read any of the previous ones. This one is about two feuding patriarchs who try to settle their differences by getting their children married. However, Olive Harper has her own score to settle with Elijah Weston for a past insult and is determined to not make it easy for him. The Duke in question.... it's not Elijah 😉.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher WebMotion and the author for the e-Arc of the book.
I ADORE this series!! Ten Days with a Duke is book 11 in the 12 Duke’s of Christmas series. Erica Ridley has done it again. This enemies to lovers story is masterfully written and is a MUST READ! After being kissed and publicly humiliated by the son of a feuding family, Olive Harper has focused all of her pain and efforts on being the sole heiress of her family’s horse farm. That is until her father arranges for her to marry the very man who caused her all her pain. Elijah Weston despite being the sole heir of the Weston horse farm has become a botanist much to the chagrin of his devious father. Elijah has secretly been in love with Olive since they were children and he has deeply regretted causing her pain. When he is given only 10 days to win her heart and her hand, can he overcome all the lies and deceit to succeed? I received an ARC of this work from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and given freely. Sincerely, Anna
The eleventh book in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series a well written story that had a great storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. I enjoyed reading Scholar and botanist Elijah Weston and Olive Harper's story I especially liked the surprises at the end.
Light hearted historical romance with good characters, a bit of humour and readable storyline. A short but enjoyable read.
Erica Ridley’s Ten Days with a Duke was such a delightful little read!
I really enjoyed this well paced enemies-to-lovers story and LOVED the MCs. Elijah doesn’t have the same level of animosity towards Olivia but the push and pull of their relationship was still delicious!
All the little details about the book also really made it quite special and I particularly enjoyed Elijah’s passion for botany. What can I say? I love a nerd! And a historical romance nerd is icing on the cake!
Overall, a sweet and comforting read! I think books from this author can safely go in my save-for-a-stressful-day pile in future!
This book is available now!
Great addition to this series. I have read several of Erica Ridley’s books and really enjoy her writing style.
Thanks Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
I adored this book. It captured my attention from the start and I felt all the good Hallmark type feels as it progressed. At one point I had to remind myself that it was not a biography, but my heart was still warmed by the story.
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. The opinions are my own.
Ten Days with a Duke by Erica Ridley is a charming read full of tensions. Two young people who shared a kiss and one of them was humiliated in front of all. Ever since then, the two have become enemies. This story features an enemies-to-lovers trope. I loved it! Erica Ridley writes so well. Her characters come to life on the pages. I could feel the angry, fear, and attraction from the characters. I loved the close relationship the leading female had with her father. Now, she's forced to marry or lose the family horse farm! The kiss she and her enemy shared in the past still lingers in their thoughts. There were several surprises in this novel that I would have never guessed! Overall, I loved this historical romance. I highly recommend Erica Ridley's novels to all readers.
Loved this book! Erica Ridley's 12 Dukes series is delightful and this installment left me charmed. Eli's a fascinating, layered hero, and Olive's strength and insistence on being herself gave me a woman worth rooting for. I felt the conclusion was a bit neat, especially considering how abusive Eli's father is implied to be, but the chemistry of the main characters and their well-developed personalities made up for it. Also it's one of Erica Ridley's steamier titles, which was a pleasant surprise!
