Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

It's got good information and works great as an intro into plant-based eating and what it entails, how to go about it, that sort of thing. So in this regard, it is a very good book
But it's also very basic in the sense of, it could've covered more. For example, how does someone who is allergic to nuts get all the stuff you'd normally get from nuts in a WFPB diet?
Still, it's good in that it gives a leg up, a starting point, and that's to be recommended

This book is very informative and explores nutrition and the value of plant based foods well. The recipes are well set out and appealing.

I really enjoyed this book. Would recommend it for everyone who wants to eat more plantbased/vegan for health reasons. The information is superb and easy to understand without any additional knowledge of medicine or anatomy.
The recipes sound quite tasty too. It's the kind of book to get back to again and again to look something up.

Whole foods, plant based guide book.
I was really interested in this as I have been moving more towards this type of diet and wanted to learn more about it.
This book is well written, simple to read and has lots of lovely photographs and illustrations..
Lots of practical advice and explanations about particular foods.
I also found the medical and scientific information easy to understand.
The case studies illustrated the benefits of this lifestyle and resonated with me as I aim to be fitter and healthier during lockdown.
Highly recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.

Well researched and informative. Dr Newman knows what she’s talking about. Very appreciated to see a Doctor who understands nutrition and the value of healthy plant based food. You get all the information you need from this book, in fact a lot more than I expected. The recipes seem to be great. I wish all of them would come with a picture. This is a really good book to turn to when someone thinks you’ll die of this and that deficiency, but you can tell them about the problems they will probably suffer from if they refuse to change their diet. Good book!
