I went into this book knowing that it took a more philosophical slant as opposed to a scientific one. Unfortunately, I found the arguments rather outdated and the language itself was archaic in that Smith used male-centric language such as 'mankind,' etc, which, when publishing in philosophic and commentative spheres in 2021 is not acceptable, and runs the risk of alienating a large demographic of readers.

The premise of this book is a good one. It all goes downhill from there. I'm not sure who the intended audience is. Certainly not females, since the author exclusively uses "man" and masculine pronouns as if 50% of the population doesn't exist. The prose reads like an academic paper. The arguments seem to be philosophical rather than scientific in nature.

This books is not for me. DNF.
