Took me a while to get through this book because parts of it were not that interesting but overall it was a good book. Definitely not action-packed but perfect for a nice day on a patio :)
My Kind of Perfect
(Trillium Bay #3)
Written by: Tracy Brogan
Summer’s about to start so off I go again to Trillium Bay and I’m excited because Lilly Callaghan has come home.
If you’ve been keeping up with the goings on with the Callaghan sisters and their family and friends you’ll remember that Lilly was the floozy, sorry the younger woman who fell into a very (May several years December) relationship with John Taggert. Yes, Ryan’s father – see above reference to the May/Decceemmbbeerr romance. Lilly is if nothing else a practical girl, she has realized that maybe her sisters and friends in Trillium Bay did know what they were talking about when she and “Tag” John fell in love the previous summer. Now, not quite a year later she’s home and hoping that maybe she will find who and what she is looking for on Wenniway Island.
Not much has changed, well there is a pregnancy, maybe two and news has it there is a movie being filmed on Wenniway Island this summer. How exciting right! Last but not least Lilly is in need of a job, so Emily hires her. The other thing Emily does is she softly points Lilly to maybe catch up with handsome, sexy, ex-underwear model Yoga “Matt Easton”. With the cast and crew arriving and a meeting between Lilly and male lead Jayden Pearce, one has to wonder is Lilly going to stick to her plan.
With almost the entire population hoping to get some kind of role in the film, two new little Trillium Bayer’s close to being born, an upcoming wedding and all the folks we love, you can be sure that Tracy Brogan has once again given us laughs, excitement and lots of time with the Callaghan family (including Ryan and Leo). Her humor, characters and writing style keep me coming back for more. Will Lilly find the man who can fulfill her wish list? Or will she lose him to a decision that was hastily made?
I can’t recommend this enough, it’s number 2 in my 2021 reading list and I will admit right now, I’ve pre-order the paperback to add to my growing collection of Tracy Brogan paperbacks.
My thanks to Montlake Romance, NetGalley and Tracy Brogan for the chance to advance read this wonderful book.
It is a heartwarming story of love and second chances. The book starts slow but picks up pace after the first few initial chapters. The characters are well written and easy to relate to. The side characters are also easy to like.
The conversations between the lead characters are fun and well written.
Overall, the book made for a good, sweet read.
Thank you for providing the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I loved everything about this book!! I feel like I was right there with the characters in the book.
This was my first time reading a book by Tracy Brogan, but I loved her writing style, how she drew me into the story, how loving, caring, and humourous her characters are.
Lilly finds herself home again after a whirlwind romance with her older boyfriend fizzle out, when the things they want in life are no longer the same. Putting her life back together seems like such an easy thing to do but every one wants her help with something and there is not much left for what she wants. Two men seems to want to spend time with her and she enjoys them both in different ways. An actor and a yoga guru/builder vying for her attention is definitely an ego boost after how things ended woth Tag. She just needs to figure out where her heart belongs. Another great read in the Trilium Bay series and I really enjoyed catching up with the rest of the family.
Lily's moved home to Wenniway Island, Michigan. She's had enough, she thinks, of men who can't commit to marriage and family so she's going to just think for a bit and help her sister with her wedding. Turns out there's a movie filming on the island and Lily gets a job as an extra, which brings her into contact with Jayden, a hot movie star who definitely turns her head. But wait. there's also Matt. the carpenter and yoga teacher who has his own issues but who is a good guy too. This is definitely a romance novel but there's also a strong sense of family and small town life. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A nice read.
I love living in the worlds Tracy Brogan creates, becoming friends with her characters and rooting for them to find love and happiness. In My Kind of Perfect, Lilly returns home with a broken heart, just in time for her sister’s wedding and for the filming of a movie on their quaint island. I loved watching Lilly open herself to new adventures and possibilities, and finding herself torn between the handsome movie star and the charming (and also handsome) hometown carpenter/yoga instructor. There is humor and fun along with a lot of heart and tender feelings in this wonderful book!
Loved this read! Couldn't put it down and decided to read it all in one sitting, definatly did not disapoint! Thankyou author!
This book is the third book in the Trillium Bay series. This story is about Lilly. She has returned home to Trillium Bay after her relationship with a much older man has ended. She is in a sort of limbo on what to do, so she takes a job helping her sister as a personal assistant to her house flipping company. She meets Matt who works for her sister. There is mutual attraction, but Lilly is determined to just be friends. A movie is being shot in their hometown where Lilly is going to be an extra. She meets one of the stars Jayden who flirts with her. For awhile she is torn between her attraction to both men. As things progress she must make a choice on what her future will look like.
I always enjoy Tracy Brogan’s omances. She combines interesting locations with quirky, fun characters and snappy dialogue. In this novel, the main characters live on an island that is clearly modeled on Mackinac Island in upstate Michigan. I’ve been there, but I never gave much thought to the people who live there full time and what it’s like to live somewhere without cars in this modern world. The setting alone made the novel fun to read.
I wasn’t as fond of the two main characters. Lilly has returned to her family home after figuring out that a romance with a guy over 30 years older than she is might not lead to the family life she’d always dreamed of. Maybe the baby talk was something she should have had earlier. Apparently, she‘s just a magnet for hot guys as the island's hot carpenter and the sexy actor filming on the island both seem to fall for her. She knows which one she prefers, but doesn’t seem to think much of flirting and hanging out with the other guy and then is surprised when the guy she wants to build a relationship with isn’t happy about it.
But the novel was still a fun read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
This book is just the thing to pull you out of a dreary mood. Quirky, likeable characters highlight the story. It is filled with smart and quick- witted humor high lighted by laugh out loud moments. Tracy Brogan delivered with this winner.
If you're looking for a light, low angst beach read with lots of family dynamics, look no further. This was my first experience reading this author's work and it was surprisingly refreshing and an easy breezy read for me. I didn't read the first 2 books in this series, but I'm guessing Lilly was introduced in those previous books. She's a likeable character that has the fortunate problem of attracting the attention of not two, but three men. The other quirky family members, the close-knit community and the overall feeling of Trillium Bay were the most enjoyable aspect of this read. A very enjoyable light read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
Tracy Brogan never disappoints. This is the 3rd book in the Trillium Bay series. It features Lily who has come home on a break from her much older boyfriend.. She meets two new men and the fun begins. There is lots of romance and fun. Her sister is getting married, there is a movie being filmed, and it's chaos. Family drama at it's best. I love the characters - you feel you know them - and a small town is always a fun adventure.
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
I love the setting for this series. I like the close knit family. Brogan depicts a small community very well, everyone knows everyone else’s business. I thought Matt was authentic and vulnerable. I did enjoy the dressing down Lilly gives him, however. I thought she was a bit scattered and flighty. She bounced from one relationship directly into another and I thought it was a bit rushed, especially what happened at the end. It’s a sweet story. I thought Tiny and Gloria were hilarious.
My Kind of Perfect by T. Brogan, published by Montlake, is book three in the Trillium Bay Series. Every book is about another couple and can easily be read as stand-alones.
This is Lilly and Matt's story.
Lilly is the youngest of the three Callaghan sisters. She doesn't always make wise decisions, like her latest failure at relationship shows. She's back home, needs a new job, starts over.
Matt Eastman loves the island life. He knows what he wants, is kind of settled.
And then is there the Hollywwod star that shows up and illy catches his eye too.
What to do and who to choose.
MKoP is a beautiful story, heart warming, witty and fun with depth at the same time. I loved just everything about the book, 5 stars.
I love the Trillium Bay series. Lily has been through so much and was rooting for her to find her true happiness. It’s a story that makes you keep hoping Lily finds her fairytale ending.
Tracy Brogan books always deliver a healthy, soothing dose of family, sunshine, and romance. A great tonic for the second spring of Covid as we look forward to beach days and community parades again.
Sweet, sweet story! HEA, not a cliffhanger. Lots of lovable characters! When you need a lighthearted happy read look no further - this book fits the bill! Although the 3 main characters each have a book I’d love to see this become a series!
Everything about this book was fantastic including that gorgeous cover. I'm a big fan of Tracy Brogan's books, and I was giddy about being granted an early copy. I have been dying to find out what would happen to Lilly since the first book of the series. Lilly has separated from her much older boyfriend, Tag. She's moved home to sort of figure things out. Unsure of where her life is going, she decides to take a job helping her pregnant sister, Emily. In the process, Lilly meets yoga guy that works for her sister and a famous movie star. This places her right in the middle of a love triangle. Lilly must figure out what her true heart desires. This book has it all--humor, heart and Trillium Bay, a lovely town in the midwest. I thoroughy enjoyed every second of this book and didn't want it to end. If you are looking for a wonderful escape, you'll love this one!
A perfect cover for this breezy, sweet romance. Typical of Ms. Brogan's books, this one has a cast replete with quirky, loving family members and the right balance of humor and heart. The heroine, Lilly, returns home contemplating a permanent separation from her much older boyfriend. She's immediately thrust into the center of all her family's needs as a sort of jack-of-all-trades gopher girl, and ends up as an extra on a movie set. Thus a love-triangle begins--a movie star vs. a local yoga guy. Small town gossip and well-intentioned family advice along with plenty of flirtation are the engine of the plot, which ultimately forces Lilly to decide what she needs and wants in her life. If you've got cabin-fever from being stuck inside throughout the pandemic, take a trip to Trillium Bay. It's the perfect escape.
