Molly Cooper’s life is stuck in a rut, she dreams of her perfect man an Englishman with a perfect English accent.
Patrick Knight is a banker, he is disappearing under a mound of work and hasn’t even got time to have a proper relationship.
When Molly puts her cottage on Magnetic Island Australia on a holiday swap website Patrick sees the listing and thinks maybe this is the time to write the novel he has inside of him.
Although they never meet or never call each other they just converse in a series of emails. They shouldn’t have to meet but as they grow closer over emails they are wondering whether there is something more than email friendship
This was a lovely book, I read in just over 24 hours, the fact it was in email form meant it nipped along at quite a rapid rate. The characters were well formed and you really rooted for both characters going forward.
I would definitely recommend this as a book to read if you are looking for something light and untaxing.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Nice book with fun plot.
I enjoyed reading this and liked the idea of the house swap between 2 disparate characters and how it reflected their lifestyles.
Nicely written and enjoyable storyline.
Cute story. That almost half the book if not more was done in email exchanges and journal entries was a different (and I'll admit, weird) take. While it worked to move the story forward and we really got to see both Molly and Patrick better and dive deep into them, it kinda felt like the romance took a back seat, and I was mainly digging that throughout. Still, it's a cute and refreshing book and passes the time nicely
I certainly think the story is different and a good idea.
Unfortunately this story was spoilt by the format it was written in.
Namely emails being pinged back and forth.
It does pick up when the emails actually stop but for me it is too little too late.
Molly has always dreamed of travelling to London, however her finances have never allowed that to become a reality. When her friend talks her into trying a house swap, Molly takes a chance and agrees.
Patrick is an overworked banker who lives in London, however he wants to escape his every day life to write the novel that has been filling his mind for so long. And in a twist of fate, it is these two people that contact one another as they house swap.
The rest of the story is told via emails that they send to one another, alongside the entries in which they both make in their own private diaries.
I really did love this story! I particularly enjoyed seeing both characters growth throughout the book, and of course the romance which then blossomed.
This was such a lovely short read. I enjoyed an afternoon snuggled under a blanket on the sofa being absorbed into this story.
Molly has always dreamed of going to London but due to her financial situation knows that her dream is just that. However, her friend persuades her to try a house swap. Enter Patrick, an overworked banker in London who wants to escape and write the novel that has been buzzing about in his brain.
A swap deal is struck. Molly comes to London and Patrick goes to a small island off Australia. The story is then told in the emails they send each other and the entries they each make in their diaries.
This is a lovely story, you see growth and understanding from both characters. They both get to experience their own homes through the eyes of someone, giving them a different perspective and experience.
I would recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, Mills and Boon and Barbara Hannay for an e arc copy of this book.
Molly Coopers Dream date is tall, dashing with a plummy English accent but she fears she will never meet her dream man living in her Australian island paradise so when she gets the idea of a house swap she jumps at it.
Patrick is everything Molly has ever wanted...he is also her house swapper so whilst she is discovering England he is discovering her island home.
As other reviews have said most of the book is emails back and forth and private journal entries. I didn't mind the email aspect and found this quite unusual and a good way to know what the characters were thinking. There were parts which seemed entirely unrealistic, after all who flies from Australia to England for a weekend but with those moments aside it was an enjoyable easy read.
ctual rating 3.5 stars
Thank you to the publisher for sending thit to me via netgally for review.
Mollie has always dreamed of visiting London the location of her favourite film but doesn't think she'd ever be able to afford to stay anywhere that is until she comes up with the idea of a house swap. Patrick is bored with his career at the bank it's all work work work and no play and he decides he need a break when he spots a house swap in a little island in Australia he thinks this is the opportunity he needs to work on his novel and for some r&r. Mollie and Patrick soon start emailing each other about their experiences on the other side of the globe and slowly start to fall for each other.
This was such a sweet book, it was a breath of fresh air to read a book with no steamy sex scenes and to watch our two protagonists fall for each other via email getting to know each other. I loved exploring London with Mollie and it really has made me want to visit. My main issue with this book though was the fact that there was a couple of times they gay stereotypes where used and for that I dropped it down a star rating. I'm glad I finally got to read the one though
This is a book in, 'The Holiday' house swap theme, but with some original differences that make this an engaging read. The couple, swop their homes, correspond by email, and gradually a relationship develops. The reader gains important insight into both characters, from the emails, and diary entries. This adds to the story's enjoyment.
There's a twist, which threatens the fledgeling relationship magnified because Molly is looking for an ideal man and has trust issues, but eventually love prevails and there's a happy ever after. The romance is gentle and sweet, making this easy to escape with and a heartwarming read.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
The story is told mainly through a series of emails and diary entries which I found a little unusual to begin with but, once I'd got used to the style of writing, I enjoyed this way of communicating.
Starting slowly at first, the emails between Patrick in Australia and Molly in London were mostly about how they were settling in and details about the area the houses were situated in etc.
Then Patrick's mother called to see Molly, well she was being nosy really! And she helped Molly with her fear of the Tube.
Then, over time, their emails started becoming friendlier and they joked with one another. Patrick was writing a novel and he asked Molly for some advice on the female mind and then Molly started to confide her innermost thoughts to Patrick.
It was all very sweet and heart-warming. This is a lovely easy read and I enjoyed the descriptions of the idyllic beach where Molly lived, they were such a contrast to Patrick's life in London.
Molly Cooper's Dream Date is a romantic tale that will lift your heart and make you forget your woes.
Molly and Pattrick live at the opposite sides of the world and both need an escape so swap homes for a few months. Molly is hoping to find love and Pattrick is hoping to write a book. They email each other and start to open up.
Such a sweet, fluffy, laid back romance. You know that they will end up together and I loved the journey. I was a bit angry with what Pattrick did but the author did a brilliant job to convince me that he's really a good guy. I enjoyed the writing style. It's mainly emails/diary notes they write. I liked it because you got to read what they were thinking as well as doing. It worked really well. The ending was so sweet.
This is such an achingly romantic story; I couldn't put it down. I'm not used to reading stories told primarily through messages to the other person, but it really worked with this and I found myself refusing to go to sleep until I'd read just 1 more email, which eventually lead to just finishing the whole book; oops!! I loved Molly and Patrick and their story, and how swoon worthy was Patrick!! Phew!! I really appreciated the romance without filling pages with sex scenes like lots of authors seem to do, instead this was all about the romance and made you feel all tingly reading it. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to read this story, it's clean enough young girls could read it, and so beautifully written that it would definitely make a movie I'd love to watch
