Feels perfect
Following a tragic incident at one of his concerts, country music star Zane is in hiding in a mountain house in small town America. His aim for peace and minimal contact with the outside world is thrown up in the air when he meets Jeannette, his cleaning lady, and her adorable son Jonah
Jeannette has had to work hard her whole life and since she has had Jonah she has made sure that her son has everything he needs, including her time. Her life is still very intwined with the parents of Jonah’s father who died before he was born and her relationship with them is a big part of the story but it shows how Jeannette develops and changes throughout. Zanes desire to hide away was suggested by his lawyer following the incident at the concert and he has his emotional walls firmly up until Jeannette and Jonah burst into his life. His struggles with his emotions and his relationship with music are all bought together and show how the two have such a big impact on him
This story has a lot of focus on the characters development and their surroundings, the peacefulness and the power of the outdoors to bring people together and I loved seeing how they challenge each other and even with Zanes fame, they still fight to see what is important to them
I think one of my favourite characters has to be Jonah, he has such a strong bond with his mum but he accepts Zane. He is independent but you can feel the love for him coming off the page and it’s Jonah who at times sets into motion the small things that start to have a big impact
It’s really hard for me to write this review and not give spoilers so I do apologise if I have accidentally put any in. The characters and their story really spoke to me and they felt so real which is probably why I ended up so entangled with them and so addicted to their story and their world
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a book that has a lot of character development and challenges the characters as well as the reader with stereotypes and will drag you in and keep you reading until the very end
I suspect I should have looked closer at the book jacket before I chose to read this. the book jacket gives you a clear suggestion that the storyline will be sweet and possibly too sweet. This is part of the M&B Cherish line and that is another indication that you are going to get a storyline with some angst but little humour and lots of tear-jerking writing styles.
Actually, it read better than my comments above may have suggested. But the trope of the new love being the new muse appears and the successful man meets and falls for the not very well off widow with son is only too familiar.
So do read if this is the type of story that you like - cozy and it all goes well - but I prefer a dash of humour and snark in my romances. I'm giving it a 3 star rating as in its own way it was readable and enjoyable.
Short and sweet, and the little kid made it cute. A bit meh about the insta-romance, but loved the chemistry and easy dialogue between the hero and heroine, and enjoyed the setting
This is a nice easy read and whilst it is predictable I also found it enjoyable.
The characters are entertaining.
3 stars purely because it left some unanswered questions at the end...
His country Cinderella is without a doubt a cheesy romance, but that is what made me enjoy this story all the more.
Zane is a famous country singer, but after a rather unfortunate event at one of his concert, he finds himself hiding out in Thunder Canyon, hoping to avoid the ever watching paparazzi. This is where he meets one of the local's Jeanette Williams, along with her son. The more time Zane spends with them, and within this community, the more he finds himself wondering if there could be more to life than the fame he has come to know.
This is undoubtedly a predictable read from the off, but I still found myself really enjoying it!. The characters were fun, the storyline was well plotted and flowed wonderfully. An enjoyable read!
His Country Cinderella by Karen Rose Smith. Published by Mills and Boon.
This was first published in 2013 but was recently re published.
This was a lovely story and I really liked that the main characters were the characters that the plot revolved round. Yes, there were supporting characters but the plot was mainly Zane, Jeanette and her son Joshua.
Zane is a famous country singer who is hiding in a house up a mountainside. Jeanette is the cleaner who has been employed by the cleaning company. They are not supposed to meet but one day they do. The story revolves round their attraction and subsequent relationship beginnings. I really enjoyed the way that Zane accepted that Joshua was Jeanette’s focus and the way that Joshua just accepted Zane from the beginning was so lovely. Zane also realises that Jeanette has no clue as to who he is, which is so refreshing for him and he really likes that she is getting to know him as Zane and not the famous singer he is.
Both Jeanette and Zane have things in their past that they have to deal with. We see them grow and see the strength that develops from them trusting each other.
A well written story and one I would recommend.
Zane Gunther is a country music superstar but when one of his concerts ends in tragedy he escapes to a mountain hideaway to lick his wounds in private.
Jeanette is a single mum who is juggling two jobs just to keep afloat.
Zane is doing everything he can to keep away from people so when he returns home early and finds his cleaner still there, all he can think about is getting her to leave, but once she does he finds that he just can't get her out of his mind.
The more time he spends with Jeanette the more he finds himself falling for her, but can she love Zane Gunther the man?
A lovely read which is just fairy tale enough without going too far! A fan's death at a concert leaves the hero living a hidden life until our heroine meets him by accident. Their growing relationship goes in fits and starts and includes his best friends and her ex in-laws. The wider relationships to the couple aren't covered in any depth but allow a rounded picture of both protagonists and you are cheering them on through the gentle development of their couple and through the inevitable hard patch as the impact of the fan's death is felt on our hero.
This is a relatively slow and tender romance that looks at how to establish and work a relationship with a deceased husband, young child and financial pressures on one side with money but no roots on the other.
A pleasant read in a quiet evening.
There's cheese and then there is CHEESE. As in a full cheesy Christmas platter and that's exactly what you get when you read This Country Cinderella.
Zane is a famous country singer, but when the unthinkable happens at one of his concerts, he is hounded by the paparazzi. It's while hiding out in Thunder Canyon that he meets local girl Jeanette Williams and her son and before long Zane wonders if there is another life he could choose instead of fame and fortune.
It's cheesy and predictable but to be fair it does touch on some really deep topics very well considering is a short and sweet romance. The characters are fun - even if Jeanette's son is the most advanced 4 year old I've ever read about in a book!
That being said, I love a little cheese at Christmas and I'm a sucker for a Cinderella story so I had a lovely time as I read His Country Cinderella. It's apparently been made into a TV Christmas which I'm tempted to hunt down!
