Really enjoyed this one. There was something different in it, a depth, that I didn't expect to find in a category romance - it deals with PTSD and living with it, which is a heavy topic in itself, but this was very well handled and balanced with the relationship that was budding between the hero and heroine. Aside from a few instances where I wondered about professionalism (but we're also here to suspend disbelief), this one kept me enthralled as I so wanted to find out how these two would get their HEA. The end didn't disappoint, though I would've liked the epilogue to give more about how Travis is doing after a while...but it was a swoon-worthy happy time, so I won't hold that against it
A story of missed opportunities and reconnection. Failing to meet up for a blind date due to work commitments, they attempt to rearrange but can't seem to make it work. Until Travis turns up as get new boss... Getting involved would be wrong but they just can't help it.
His Blind Date Bride is written by Scarlet Wilson and published by M&B Medical. Naval Surgeon Ivy Ross has been messaging Travis King for several months via a messaging app. She misses their first real life date as she I called away to work. When she finally meets him on a blind date he turns out to be the new Senior Medical Officer and her boss. Naval ships are strict on onboard romances so will their romance be over before it has even begun?
I received this book via Netgalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for a honest review. I am a #MillsAndBoonInsider #netgalley #gifted
I really enjoyed this romance. A lot of research had obviously gone into it and this made, not only the characters but also the environment so believable. Typical of life where a couple who had been in touch for months with the help of a dating app, ended up working together in a work situation where romance between colleagues was frowned upon. The build of sexual tension was well written and tangible. Thoroughly recommended
An interesting setting focusing on medics in the Navy is the background for Ivy and Travis' romance. Meeting on a dating app, chemistry sparks and they decide to meet, but duty calls and Ivy doesn't show. Their first meeting is unexpected and difficult as the logistics of a workplace romance on a ship are difficult and forbidden.
Both of the characters are relatable with conflicted and believably written romance. Ivy's dedication to her career, and Travis' struggle with his mental health, add additional conflict and give this story authenticity.
This is an original crossover medical/military romance.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the story of Travis and Ivy. Both are committed to their jobs but are doing the whole dating app thing as a way to appease their friends and family so when their innocent texts start to turn flirtatious it takes them both by surprise. When they set up a blind date to finally meet each other, Ivy gets a call which means her job in the navy will be taking her away again before she even sets eyes on her mystery date.
Fast forward a few weeks and she is shocked when she comes face to face with her mystery man, and worse still he is her new commanding officer! The navy has strict rules about dating but will they be enough to keep Travis and Ivy apart.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
It was nice to see an original setting which I felt added to the enjoyment of the story
Great detail and much research was clearly undertaken - so much work obviously has been put into the book which was fantastic
Great characters, well written and the story was great
Really enjoyed this
This is a lovely story set in an unusual setting but that only added to the story.
Ivy and Travis both have very busy lives and trying to actually go on a date is near impossible. Until they find an evening to meet, only for Ivy to be called away to work with immediate effect on her way to meet Travis. Will they ever meet or is their connection just through texts?
I don’t want to give anything away plot wise.
The characters were well written, really enjoyed the unusual setting. I can understand why relationships within this setting are hard and can impinge upon working areas.
I would recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The theme and setting of this romance is original - a cross-over of medical and military. The detail is terrific and a sign of good research, which is admirable in any kind of story. I liked the strong initial attraction between Ivy and Travis under difficult circumstances, which led to wonderful sexual tension. I would have liked a little more intimacy, but their relationship was portrayed as involved, intriguing and real. A thoroughly enjoyable book.
His Blind Date Bride was a different read from the perhaps more usual Mills and Boon medical romances. It dealt with the medical aspects needed to define the characters well and didn't go into too much jargon - just enough to tell the story and flesh out the 2 main protagonists.
The plot was interesting and the description in the book allowed the reader to see things from the point of view of both of the main characters and you cheered them both on and wanted things to work out for them in their personal lives as well as together,
The ending came rather quickly and after a few lines of action, there was a jump to several weeks later; it would have been more fulfilling to have a bit of the thinking in this time period fleshed out. Having said that I enjoyed the read and the style was very fluid and kept me drawn in to the end. The HEA was always going to happen but there was a surprise in how it all came about which kept me entertained.
I received an ARC from Mills and Boon, and Netgalley in return for an honest review.
This was enjoyable but it was a rather different read, and I'm not sure if I totally liked the heavy emphasis on the medical/military aspects of the story.
Interesting premise: Ivy and Travis (both Doctors in the Navy), are both using a dating app but hiding their real identities. They nearly meet, but Ivy is hauled off to replace an MO on a navy ship. They meet when Travis turns up as the replacement SMO and Ivy's Boss on the same ship.
They get close. There's a stupid misunderstanding (Ivy jumps to conclusions), she threatens him; he resigns and they finally get together after 10 weeks.
I really liked Travis - hiding his PTSD, concerned about Ivy and not wanting to risk her career, he's really a great guy. Ivy is a different matter. Focused on her career, she has a tendency to want to be in control of herself and everyone else. I had no real sense of her falling in love with Travis and I couldn't understand her behaviour towards him. I really didn't feel I knew these two well enough to become invested in their story.
I think the heavy focus on Navy/Medical aspects was at the expense of the romance. I know this writer can write but this book disappointed me because the romance suffered. I would have liked an epilogue set a couple of years in the future showing how they'd worked everything out. Three stars
