Oh what a shame this book wasn’t downloadable to kindle. I was so looking forward to reading this book. Always loved frankie bridge from the Saturdays to loose women presenter I find her refreshing honest and down to earth but also a fun girl I can imagine she’s a great and loyal friend.
As a fellow sufferer of anxiety and depression I wanted to see what she had to say on the topic. Not sure why it won’t download to kindle so I guess I’m gonna have to go out and buy myself a copy.
A very honest insight into depression and anxiety, I sometimes don’t like the way these types of books come across, but this told it straight.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Right from the outset ‘I am a constant work in progress’
Loved that Frankie said her Nan had nicknamed her ‘sunshine and showers’. Also really liked the lines ‘there isn’t going to be one thing that makes this all go away’ and ‘I am a constant work in progress’. I found throughout too that the input from Frankie’s mental health team which is cleared printed throughout gives good insight into the complexities of mental health.
I adored this. I’ve grown up with Frankie in bands and who’d have know what she was going through. I could empathise a lot as going through a difficult time. Love that she’s trying to normalise everything.
I absolutely loved this Open and honest book by Frankie Bridge about the mysteries of mental health and it's impact on you. I applaud her for sharing so publicly, and no doubt helping others afraid to speak out, about what it is like to experience Sunshine and Showers every day. Her emphasis on hope, that tomorrow is another day, and to keep pushing on resonated with me so perfectly.
Such a honest, approachable book. Frankie tells her anxiety story alongside some really good self help tips. I love the tone of this book, that as well as being a memoir it also presents the science behind her story. This book is easy to read, it is definitely something I feel I could dip in and out of to use as needed with my own anxiety journey.
This is a very honest and informative insight into depression and anxiety. There is so much to take from it whether for yourself or for others. A great book to help you understand everything about this illness and how to live and embrace it. I got a lot from it in helping me to understand about depression for others in my life. A very easy read with so much information packed into it.
Well deserves the 5 stars and highly recommended.
Thank you Octopus Publishing and Netgalley.
This is a really honest, open and vulnerable book. Mental health has been under the spot light over the last few years and as such this is a very timely book. It helped me and I'm sure it will help others. Thank you Frankie
I struggled to read this as I couldn’t open it on my kindle, but I was able to read a pdf version. This was a great memoir and I found it very important that Frankie Bridge was able to recognise that her privilege means she is able to access things that most people aren’t.
This is one of the best self-help memoirs I have ever read! Frankie Bridge is so brave, honest and open and it is truly refreshing. This book will help a lot of people, and youth in particular.
I've never read a self help book from cover to cover before, but I found this book a fantastic support into how I'm feeling right now, in that I'm not alone with these feelings I have. And never have I highlighted so many passages in a book before in the hope I can get someone else to read it & understand fully just how much this can affect me on a day to day basis with or without medication. Will definitely be reading this again sometime in the near future if I feel myself slipping into that dark place again #ItsOkNotToBeOk #Speakout
Frankie Bridge is very honest about her experiences with anxiety and depression and about the importance of being able to speak openly about mental health issues. I'm glad she acknowledges that she's in a place of privilege to be able to access treatment privately as for most of us the help available is quite limited. She also discusses her eating disorder which could be triggering for some people.
Big fan of Frankie Bridge - we are the same age, and both grew up in Essex. I am even more of a fan of Bridge since she's opened up about her mental health struggles.
This book is so honest, and Frankie is incredibly open about her personal life experiences with mental health, going right back to when she was a child. This book is a mixture of memoir, self help and science non fiction.
I loved the fact that the personal real life stories are backed up by mental health professions. This makes the book so easily readable. It explains the science behind mental health, as well as medical advice/opinions. This makes the really unique.
This book is easy to understand, yet incredibly informative.
Even if you're not a fan of Frankie Bridge you will definitely get something out of this book - whether you have experienced mental health struggles yourself or even if you haven't.
Recommend this to everyone - particularly the audiobook.
