This is a book that will grab you and completely absorb you! I have literally devoured this gorgeous book in one sitting.

This is my first read by Shalvis, but I am eagerly adding others to the TBR. This is the book that has completely converted me as a fan!

I have nothing negative I can say about this read, it has been the wonderful escape I have been looking for. Maze is a wonderful main character and I've really liked the journey with her.

Shalvis writes so well, you feel as though you are right there with the characters. This is a talent that not all authors possess. I found myself completely captivated from the very beginning and wanting more as I was reading.

The cover of this book is absolutely gorgeous, it definitely attracts my attention and makes me want to know about the book.

There is nothing I dislike about this book, I have adored the characters, the plot and I cannot wait to read more by this author.

The Forever Girl by Jill Shalvis

Trigger warning – there are some themes around the Foster Care system and difficult childhoods as well as loss and grief.

Caitlin, Walker, Maze and Heather are a makeshift family by choice having grown incredibly close during the summer that Caitlin’s family fostered the others. But a tragic loss forced them to separate and secrets amongst the group threaten to tear them apart forever.

Caitlin’s character is engaged to be married and is feeling the strain of planning a wedding so she finds a way to get her family together to support her. Caitlin’s struggles with her stress and anxiety as well as following her heart instead of her high expectations of herself is so relatable! We have all done things because we felt that we should…and Caitlin’s story shows us how damaging that approach to life can be.

Walker and Maze are close in a different way to the rest. Its not a sibling closeness – it’s a chemistry that they can’t deny. But with Maze’s tendency to destroy relationships because she can’t let people love her and Walker’s history of abandonment issues, can they make their relationship work?

This book was great. It had so much more to it than a simple 2 sided romance. There was family drama, guilt, angst, and issues stemming from childhood that impact the here and now. I just loved it and I was rooting for the characters so much. When Caitlin’s fiancé dropped a blame bomb I felt my heart break and stomach flip for Maze.

I highly recommend this book. It truly is a new dimension to the classic romances we know and love from the author.

I enjoyed the premise and the characters who really made the book. Each had their own story, struggles and personality and they're captured well. They're all likeable and I find the platonic relationships as supportable as the romantic. There is a great chemistry between Walker and Maze but I have to say I do prefer more explicit sizzle.

I struggled with the plot in the first half of the book, there were very few 'events' but a fair amount of repetition and chatter. It was largely just a series of Maze having not quite heart-to-hearts with various characters about how inadequate she was and how they're better without her and their fight to tell her otherwise falling on deaf ears.

The second half of the book was way more interesting and character progression occurred through actual plot points. I much preferred the second half and would have rated higher for this section alone.
