A cute romance featuring the trope of best friends to lovers. I read this in one sitting with a smile on my face the whole time. Highly recommended if you need a bit of sunshine and love in your love.

This book is spread over 12 years, starting when Poppy and Alex meet at university. On a trip back to their hometown, which they don't realize the first time they met, are close to each other. On this journey a friendship forms, in which they make a pact to go on one trip in the summer each year.

This occurs, until two years ago when something happens that stops them from talking to each other. Poppy decides to make the first move and invite Alex on another trip to see if they can't be friends again, or does she want more?

It's a story rather like When Harry met Sally in which the two characters get to know each other over a long period of time. It keeps flicking back from the present to past trips in which we see their friendship develop and how they have other partners in between.

It's a cute but predictable story really, but nice enough.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Poppy and Alex meet in college and after being forced to share a ride back home together over break, they form a friendship and decide to take a trip together every summer that follows.

Twelve years later, when our book opens, there's a distance between the friends, but Poppy - now a blogger and travel writer - asks Alex to join her on one last trip, a trip that could define the rest of their lives.

This is such an enjoyable read. Of course you know where the story is ultimately going but the back and forth between present and the past - where we visit Poppy and Alex on each of their summer vacations - keeps it exciting. We're in familiar Emily Henry territory so you'll find plenty of witty banter, heat and sexual tension, but I will say I found myself preferring this book to Beach Read It is that addictive tale of friends to lovers, much like One Day, When Harry Met Sally or Something Borrowed. It's funny and smart, but still filled with tender, heartwarming moments. I also loved how atmospheric it is, with vivid descriptions of the places Poppy and Alex visit, particularly New Orleans and Palm Springs. It almost feels like going on a vacation when you can't - pure escapism!

I have no doubt this will be a big hit this summer. Hopefully you'll get to a sunny place to read it.

Poppy and Alex met at college 12 years prior to the start of the book, when they discover that they are both from the same small town in Ohio. Despite being polar opposites (She's the scatty misfit that's never fit in, he's the uptight brawny jock etc. etc.) they become best friends on a road trip home. Every year afterwards, they slum it on budget trips as friends, until 2 years ago when something changes between them. Yes, it was predictable and yes, it was a familar trope - think When Harry Met Sally or One Day, but it was fun and humourous and enough carry you along in a sweet summer romance. Comfortable and cosy romcom, perfect for the holidays.

This is a fantastic summer read from the author of the Beach Read. Alex and Poppy are fantastic characters but the setting is a huge driving force in my love of this novel, a wonderful slow burn of a relationship will keep you reading.

Fabulous summer read. A great escape into the lives of Poppy and Alex flipping to and fro from present day to the past telling the story of the two friends as their pasts collide with their present.
A predictable end with a good twist to keep my hooked right through the last chapters, but characters who are likeable and interesting enough to make this a holiday page turner.
I loved the depth of Poppy and Alex's lives, and could identify with Poppy's feelings for her home town, and how this changed over time. I loved Alex's steadfastness, which never gives way and Poppy's ability to help him embrace his vulnerability.
Fun read, clever format and lovely characters to accompany downtime on my own vacation!

Emily Henry has been such a delight to discover this last year. I enjoyed Beach Read very much, but You and Me On Vacation really showed her skill on another level: a queen of high concept romance, I can’t wait to see what she does next.

I was expecting a girl meets boy summer holiday story but got instead a story spanning 12 years which reminded me of When Harry Met Sally ( I only realised what it reminded me of when I read what the author wrote at the end of the book!). Each chapter is set in a different time, on a different holiday (English for vacation) and in a different chapter of the relationship between the 2 characters. I liked wondering what had happened to get them to that place - were they going to get together, would the stay best friends, would they be dating different people? Really clever way of writing a story. Highly recommended :)

This was very much a "right book, wrong time" situation for me. I absolutely love Emily Henry's style of writing and the way she unravels topics and feelings we all experience in one way or another through her character.

You and Me on Vacation was a sweet slow burn of a friends to lovers romcom at its heart but also so much more at the same time. I also had this feeling with Beach Read: it had all the aspects of a romcom but had more weight to it, more realness, more substance. I love this combination of heavy and light, how it still remains entertaining despite the serious moments. It's a precarious balance and Emily Henry does it beautifully, in my opinion.

Despite it all, I had a rocky start with You and Me on Vacation. For instance, it gave me major wanderlust which I welcomed less than usual since I was unable to go anywhere this year because of the panorama. Secondly, it took me a little longer for the characters to hook me in their story and to truly get invested. This was probably part of the timing issue for me, I actually really liked both Poppy and Alex and their journey (both the actual and the metaphorical ones).

We kept switching between the last summer trips and the current one, leading up the year when they stopped talking (the current trip is their reunion). While I appreciated the thought process behind the narrative structure, i wasn't the biggest fan of the execution. I'm usually always more interested in the present when it comes to recurring flashback scenes. While I recognise the need for them in this case, I still often found myself impatient to return to the present.

This was still a very fun summer read - ironically, this was more of a beach read than Beach Read, at least for me. But I wasn't blown away. I might reread it at some point in the future to see how I get on with it because I honestly think I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to enjoy this one properly. I would still wholeheartedly recommend it though, because a "non mind blowing" Emily Henry book is still among the best romances of the year as far as I'm concerned. And I would recommend it especially if you like friends to lovers and travel!

I absolutely adore this book.
Poppy and Alex met 12 summers ago, 11 summers ago they made a pact to go on vacation together every year. 2 summers ago it went pear shaped. This summer Poppy asked Alex to go on vacation again.

Oh man, I loved Poppy and Alex so much. This friends to lovers story is so sweet and wholesome, I couldn’t get enough.

If you are a fan of Beth O’Leary’s Road Trip I think you’ll love this one.

Contemporary romance with a couple of mostly fade to black sex scenes.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me an eArc of this book to review. All opinions are my own.

#YouAndMeOnVacation delivers what it promises, a fabulous beach/staycation read!

Best friends who have drifted apart, Poppy & Alex decide to go on one last holiday together to try and reconnect. The tales of their previous holidays together are woven throughout and I was eager to get to the holiday where ‘it all went wrong’ between them and find out why!

Mental illness & family relationships are explored. I think that there is a part of Poppy & Alex as people that everyone can relate to- love can be scary!

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for my free advance copy in return for an unbiased review. I will be looking for more by this author.

Poppy and Alex met at college but could not be more different. The only thing they agreed on was that they both hated the feminisation of ships. However, the frequent journeys home contributed to a great friendship between them, as well as going on holiday together once a year. Things get more complicated as they both get into relationships with other people, especially if their friendship is not an ordinary one. When they are together, they are completely different people.

Great book which will stay with me for a long time. Couldn't get enough of Poppy and Alex .

Who doesn't love a best friends fall in love story? Alex and Poppy know each other inside out and we read about their current vacation but also learn about all their previous ones too, ones that have developed them into the people they are now - growing over the years together.

This book is fabulous!

This was such a great story. At times I felt so frustrated with the characters and I needed them to just CLICK, but of course, it all falls in to place beautifully and we get our happy ending. I'll be purchasing this for myself as I can see myself wanting to re-read it!

I’m so picky with romance novels but if I had to describe my perfect one it would be this book, from start to finish.
Poppy and Alex have been best friends since they met in college 12 years ago. Each summer they take a big trip and travel somewhere new but two years ago in Croatia something went wrong and they haven’t spoken since. Poppy bites the bullet and invites Alex on one last summer trip to try and rekindle their friendship.
The book flips between the past summers and the current trip, building up to try and find out what happened on their trip to Croatia that made them drift apart. I absolutely adored everything about this story. I felt so connected to Poppy and I loved their friendship so much! This is really character/friendship driven rather than action which is right up my street. Super slow burn, which again - I love. I read this in one sitting and already want to start it again. Just beautiful, can’t wait to see what she does next!

This is the second book I have read by Emily Henry. I have enjoyed both.

This is an easy summer read. A romance with some other issues covered such as mental health.

A great book to take to the beach and relax
