I regret not reading this amazing book sooner. Absolutely stunning and I'm a little bit broken now and want to start again at the beginning

This is the third book by Emily Henry that I have had the pleasure of reading.

Poppy and Alex are best friends and travelling buddies. Poppy works for a travel publication and gets to visit some fantastic locations, she takes with her her best friend Alex. every year. They have a great relationship as friends but should it, could it be more?

The story goes back and forth from the present day and saving for a new trip, and previous holidays they have had over their long friendship. The latest trip occurs after a 2 year gap, they haven't spoken for that time and they miss each other. Who will make the first move and indeed finally accept their true feelings for each other before it's too late.

A lovely book to escape with, to all of the locations visited. You'll feel like you are on holiday with Poppy and Alex but also wanting to push them together and be more than friends - finally!

This was an excellent example of a romance novel-- likable characters you can't help but root for in their getting together, a slow burn yearn of a romance and enough angst/realities of life to keep it grounded and believable. I will definitely be picking up every new release by this author.

(Many thanks to Netgalley and Penguin General UK for the ARC.)

A fun, well-written, pleasurable, cute romance with a story that flows... A seemingly simple story that will definitely make you think! It is a classic friends-to-lovers story but it is the wonderful writing that elevates it.

I'm going to start off and say that I put this off for ages and then when Emily Henry became really popular on Bookstagram, I held off as well.
I am not a friends-to-lovers fan really (I prefer enemies to lovers!), so this book didn't quite hit the mark for me, but I can see why people love it. It's written really well and I loved the polar opposite characters of Poppy and Alex.

Sadly this just wasn't for me, but it will not put me of reading other books by Emily Henry.

I dislike Beach Read. I didn't get the hype, didn't really care about the characters and just found it a bit boring to be honest....but I decided to give Emily Henry another chance - and I am so glad I did!

I love the true friends-to-lovers trope we get to see grow - flashbacks to previous summers to see their friendship grow and stagnate...and eventually come back together. Yes, a simple conversation could have solved a lot of the characters woes and saved a of time - but we humans are dumb af.

If you like decade length stories and learning everything about your characters, this is the book for you. A re-readable beach read worthy of the hype of it's predecessor.

I enjoyed this story of friendship over the years. I love a book that jumps over timelines and builds characters and details as it goes.

Alex and Poppy were adorable characters, they had quirks and seemed to find happiness within each other. The missed opportunities and sudden understanding as time went on built the story well.

I felt it went on a bit more than needed at the end, but I appreciated the self discovery element.

All in all a great beach read with lots of laugh out loud moments

DNF. No rating.

I know this one is beloved by most, as is the author, but I’ve tried to read it six times now, and have barely made it through a chapter without switching off.

I’ve tried the e-book and the audio, but neither has held my attention or interest.

The writing, the plot, the characters, their behaviour, the dialogue, nothing about it appeals to me. And so many details? One example, did the author really need to include so much background information regarding Poppy’s boss and co-worker?

In conclusion, this author is not for me.

I’d like to thank, Netgalley UK, Penguin Books UK, and Emily Henry for the e-ARC.

Beautiful!

Henry's books are synonymous with brilliant story lines and the best characters! You and Me on Vacation was raw, and complex, and a brilliant read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.

The story of Poppy & Alex and how their friendship develops into love over the course of 12 years. The book flips between the past and the present, told by Poppy.

I found this book very slow paced and sometimes too slow for my enjoyment. Unfortunately, this for me made the story lack the passion and spark – it just didn’t hold me.

I mean what can I say.
Emily Henry has fucking done it again, good god woman what are you doing to us?
The depth of these characters, the relationship development 👌🏼
Just a beautiful, at times raw and sore exploration of emotion, friendship and complex feelings. A little beaut!

4.25 ⭐️
Did somebody say sexual tension?! This was so heartwarming and not at all what I was expecting but I loved every moment. I don’t often read books that make me want to pack a bag and go on a spontaneous holiday (I also recommend The Unhoneymooners for this!) but, PWMOV really did that for me! It tackles some heavier topics by the end but, is mostly just an exploration of the friends-to-lovers trope set in some amazingly described vacation spots!

Oh this was infinitely better than Beach Read for me. The friends to lover trope never fails to be a heartwarming one. We nearly got 2 in a bed thrown in for good measure. I do wish there was a little more exploration of their romantic relationship but maybe they will pop up in future novels as Easter eggs

Heartwarming, cute and a little bit spicy! Another great summer read! I loved the contemporary style of the storyline and think that Poppy and Alex were such fun characters. If you want a heartwarming romance to help you out of a reading slump - this is it.

Don't read this book for the title, or even the blurb, for that matter. Because that's not what you'll be getting in there!
This is the story of Poppy - and it's really the story 'of' Poppy that delves into all the details, superfluous or not, of her day-to-day life and how one specific relationship has weighed so much on her being who she is and going where she is going now.
And the voice of Poppy can be hit-or-miss, no middle way compromise there. Love her or hate her, there's no in between! It read a lot like the early 2000s chick-lit when the whole 'story' was an ongoing ramble about the heroine's life and every little thing that happens to her. If you enjoy that kind of vibe, then you'll love this - it felt very 'chick-lit' nostalgic to me, super-voice-driven, and as such, very immersive if you can take the voice and it doesn't grate on you
As such, this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy old school chick lit, give this one a go

Well, this story completely wrapped me up in the Alex and Poppy’s lives. This book allowed me to experience the characters as they are in the present but also seeing how the past played its part in the here and now. Although I will admit it did take me a couple of chapters to get a feel for the switching of past to present. The reader is aware that something happened to upset Poppy and Alex’s friendship. So there is also a general mystery over what occurred, which of course had me intrigued.

Most of all though I loved the interactions between this pair especially the early vacations they spent together. Then as the book progressed I felt their connection even more. I’m not going to go into too much detail regarding the plot but I loved the fun and almost carefree feel that was on on the surface of this story. Then as I looked a little further and read on, both the characters and the story actually had a lot more depth. The characters had insecurities and issues that swirled around them. This all came together to give the story a much more rounded feel than what I was first expecting.

The pacing of the story was really good and it didn’t take me long at all to finish this book. I was rooting for the characters hoping they could get their happy ever after. Even though personality wise they were different they somehow worked as friends and maybe even something more. If the delicious sparks that fly between them were any proof.

You and Me on Vacation really is like a warm hug in a book. There is a definite Harry Met Sally vibe but Emily Henry put her own spin on it and made it her own!
