Apologies for the late feedback. As is likely obvious, I was not able to connect with this title and have chosen not to finish it, so I will not be reviewing it or featuring it in any way on the blog page or on GoodReads.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review early titles.
I loved the chemistry between between Miranda and Jack. Their Interactions were perfect and you could really feel their connection as you were reading.
The build up was great and i loved the way the author laid the groundwork for the ‘drama’ from the beginning instead of it being a random thing later on.
I do wish it hadn’t fallen into ‘communication’ trope but I think that it did work quite well in this particular book.
I can’t wait to read the following books!
Skye Jordan’s first book in The Wright Way series, So Wright, is one wonderful roller coaster ride of emotional turmoil and self discovery. As the characters evolve in their individual journeys of letting go of the past (Miranda) and learning to trust (Jack) the story’s multiple layers unfurl with the secondary characters playing their own roles in demonstrating just what a gifted writer Ms Jordan is.
As with all her books, the characters are realistic and believable, with diverse personalities...you find yourself at the mercy of her ability to draw you in and before you know it, you’re emotionally invested in the journey being taken to a HEA. Intertwined with the romantic moments of the story, is the uncovering of corporate misappropriation of funds and materials...this aspect of the story is rife with tension and misunderstandings on several levels.
I truly am looking forward to the next installment in the series, I have my suspicions as to who it will be centered around, I can’t wait to see if I’m correct.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Strong likeable characters, interesting and believeable storyline, and steamy scenes if you like the heat. I liked how the author went against the norm and had the female character, Miranda, a welder by trade, as the one night stand initiator. This was a quick, easy and enjoyable read.
So Wright was my first book by this author and I was excited to dive in. I feel like it was a little slow to start, but after a little while I found myself a little more invested in the story. I enjoyed some parts of the story including the unusual female lead's job and some of the other aspects of the book that made this story unique, including her building interests. I also liked Jack's desire to help his family and his continued pursuit (in a sweet, non-creepy way) of Miranda despite her attempts to make their relationship just a one-time thing. I liked that he could see past the walls she tried to put up due to vulnerabilities and that he felt like she was important enough to keep trying for. Having said all that, I do feel like the story was just kind of okay for me. I feel like it was either missing something, or maybe had too much going on, which impacted the effectiveness of the story. I would definitely like to check out more of the author's work to see if I enjoyed another story a bit more.
This publication has a date of 2019. Opens with Jack Taylor coming home to help his sister with their father’s company after their mother passed and their father having health issues. They have also found that the father’s business partner has stolen money.
He leaves his sisters and goes to a bar close to the hotel he is staying at where he finds himself drawn to one of the female bartenders. Miranda Wright is surprised when the last call comes and the same man that has turned away multiple drinks from different women is still sitting and saying he wants to take her for coffee. Hell, she tells him after a few questions and a photo of his ID to her friend that he needs to take her to his hotel room or she might as well go home.
When he actually puts her coat on for her, she should have known he was going to be difficult. The difficult part is him not wanting to be with her, for her shows up again and this is where the story between the two of them take off.
Then you have her past coming back to haunt her first in the form of her half-sister who she has not seen in years, she has a surprise for her. Then her own past gets thrown in her face when she was 15 living on the streets. She is also one of the top welders and low and beholds works for his father’s construction company which causes problems, for him, not her. But really these are just things can they both work past which others past for that is what holds them back from having a relationship; Even for all of the good, she does they both need each other though they continue to push the other one away. See what happens in this story of two lost people, trying to find something. A good book with good characters. Thank you netgalley for the early copy of this! This was the first book I read from the author and it won’t be the last! I devoured this book. Can’t wait to read more from Ms. Jordan!
I haven't read a book by Skye Jordan in awhile, but I definitely will pick up some of her other books that I missed after finishing So Wright and enjoying it!
The sexual chemistry between the two main characters is intense. The conflict is easy to see coming, but that doesn't mean it didn't still pack a punch.
Jack Taylor is a successful architect in New York but when a family emergency requires his attention back home he returns to Nashville to help his sister Jen and his father Jon out with the family business. His father owns his own construction company but his partner of many years took off with the money and his son seems to be following in his father's footsteps and finding his own way to steal from the company. Jack sets up shop in the local bar where he sees Miranda tending bar. He takes her back to his hotel room with no promises of tomorrow but they both have the best night of their lives and cannot stay away from the other.
I can't wait for more books in this series to be released!
This was pretty mediocre and didn't feel very inspired or original, in fact I don't think this started at a good point and it felt like the sequel to another book, but it's the first in the series.
I did not enjoy the Female MC, she wasn't my sort of person and unfortunately she didn't feel very original.
This is definitely a guilty pleasure sort of read, but it wasn't for me.
So Wright is the first book in the new The Wrights series. This was the first book I have read by this author and I’m so glad I had the chance. It was fast-paced and easy to read. The characters were charming and easy to connect with. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it.
So Wright by Skye Jordan
The Wrights #1
Rainy days in winter are always better with a relaxing book to read. This book proved just what I needed to read today. It had sizzle, spice, strong lead characters, romance, family, and so much more. I do believe this series will be one that is worth pursuing.
What I liked:
* Miranda: strong sense of self, professional welder, works hard on the job, assists in a friend’s bar, gives back in a volunteer capacity, has trust issues, and has walls up to protect herself…and yet…boy does she sizzle!
* Jack: strong, intelligent, loves his family, pulled in many directions due to work and issues with his father’s business, wants to settle down, and seeing Miranda he knows she is special BUT can he convince her…and does he have what it takes to make the relationship work?
* Marty: the father figure in Miranda’s life
* Miranda’s backstory and how it will form and impact the series – looking forward to reading her siblings books in the future
* That the main lead characters seem of equal strength in most every way – they seemed to be perfect for one another IF they managed to work through a few issues
* Gypsy: Miranda’s sister…seems there is more to her than we see in this book
* The family feeling that runs through the book…Jack’s family is close and also there is the potential for Miranda’s family to reconnect in the series
* The volunteer aspect that included building homes for the needy from cargo containers (had to look those up!)
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Bruce and his son Alex – they were baddies that deserved to spend some time in jail.
* The tough childhood that Miranda lived through
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Sexy romance with great characters. There is more under the surface than meets the eye. I enjoyed this fast paced story. The romance is great. Not too sweet, but you feel the connection. I wasn't too sure about Miranda at first but I found myself rooting for her. Jack was interesting and sexy. Definitely worth the read! I will absolutely read this author again.
Review So Wright: The Wrights by Skye Jordan
Miranda Wright and Jack Taylor who meet when she is working as a bartender to help out the owner. They have a very steamy one night stand as Jack is only home to help his family business because, whilst his father was ill, his business partner embezzled most of the company money. As the story unfolds the intrigue develops as Miranda isn’t quite what she first seems and she works for Jacks family business but is she involved?
This is a well written story, Quick enjoyable read about how life never really is what it seems but can they weather the storm?
The romance in this was beyond adorable. The plot was gripping and the humor was great.
I definitely had concerns in the first half that everything was moving very slowly and not much was happening. The blurb kind of gave away a little too much in my opinion as it definitely robbed the reader of the surprise of them meeting on the construction site and I don't think it is needed in the blurb anyway, especially as that happens well after the halfway mark of the book. My biggest gripe with this however was that the whole side plot with Gypsy was rather dull and wasn't exactly needed.
But the writing was great and the main plot was brilliant and the romance!! It was so sweet. Great read.
Nothing majorly wrong with this story but overall it didn't work for me - from the insta connection (they decided they are soulmates just after one night night of sex!) to the heroine who knew/did all perfectly. It felt too heavy on the propaganda for US soldiers/vets.
As a side note, the heroine sister is referred to as Gypsy (not sure if that's her real name or a nickname she goes by) but this is an offensive term and shouldn't be used. It made me angry every time I saw on the page,
I like my contemporary romances more realistic, less fantasy type of stories where everything works out perfectly for everyone in the end - no financial, professional, familial or other issues to be resolved or worked on by the characters. It is too neat, too perfect, I don't want the characters to be left suffering but this perfection feels forced and doesn't work for me.
This book was mediocre at best. While it was an entertaining read, it was predictable and uninspiring. There was nothing particularly standout about it. I felt the characters and plot were formulaic. It was obvious how everything was going to happen. I didn't hate it but there was nothing about it that made it special.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked Jack and Miranda’s story. And think this is a great start to the series. Jack and Miranda have great chemistry, but Miranda doesn’t do relationships, and Jack just got out of one and also has a lot on his plate. Then there are misunderstandings. It definitely had all the feels.
4 1/2 Stars for this instant attraction romance!
I loved that this book turned the tables in that the female character was the one who wanted the one-night stand and was afraid of commitment, while the male character wanted more. Even though Miranda had a really rough upbringing, she had a strong work ethic and was determined to not turn out like her mother. And who wouldn’t love Jack ... no really, who? He’s a hunk who is dedicated to his family and wants to start one of his own. The situations and the banter between the characters was very realistic and dealt with everyday issues. This book made me laugh-out-loud while being very serious at times. I haven’t read a book by Ms Jordan that I haven’t loved and this book is no exception. A great start to the series and I highly recommend it.
Jack is back home to help his sister with their father who has developed dementia. And then there’s the fact that his father’s business partner of 30 years has taken off with all the company money, leaving the Taylor family holding the bag. When Jack goes to his old hangout for a drink, he sees Miranda tending bar and is immediately smitten with her. Miranda only wants one night with the handsome stranger ... and no more. Will Jack win her over and convince her to extend her one night to more? Or are their worlds too different for more?

Jack and Miranda. He has come home to Nashville to help determine what is going on in his family's business. She may or may not be part of the problem. He is a successful Architect in New York City, comes from one of the successful families in Nashville. She has a different story. Sparks fly at their first meeting, she is not relationship material. He is going back home. Will he solve the mysteries at his fathers business? Will she learn to let people in?

I am loving Skye Jordan's books ! I am on a roll with her books !
Jack and Miranda have a super hot and complex relationship. It starts off hot and it leads to a whole lot more. Jack is home to help out his family and their business. Miranda is a loner who doesn't want relationships or much of anything to get in her way of being independent.
Their lives intertwine more and more as they learn more about each other. Jack knows it is going to take a lot of convincing to win over Miranda. And he won my heart. Loved Jack!
