A sugar plum Christmas by Susan Hatler
A well written small town holiday romance again Susan Hatler doesn’t disappoint. Engaging characters in Lacey and Jacob and the other characters in Christmas Mountain and Sugar Plum Inn city girl and a small town guy. Enjoyable Christmas romance if a bit hallmark esk. Lovely read on run up to Christmas.
Lacey arrives in Christmas Mountain to check it out for a reality dating sight. She doesn’t expect to fall in love while there. This is a cute, feel good Christmas love story. Characters are sweet. Looking for a light read over the holidays…this is it!
This was such a cute holiday romance! It was the first I have read in the series, and it certainly gives you the holiday feelings. It was beautifully written and had all the small town feel goods which I always love. The characters were lovable, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I got this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This is book # 8 in the series. The story has laughs, secrets, family issues, passion, and plenty of steam. This is a sweet christmasy story.
Lacey Lane is a researcher for a reality dating show Fourteen Days to Forever, up until now the show has always been set in a sunshine location but in an attempt to impress her boss she suggests a change of direction maybe series 4 could be set in a snow bound location.
In an attempt to prove her point Lacey heads to Christmas Mountain to research whether this would be a location to set the show.
Jacob Curtis is a local who is really not happy with the idea of his hometown being exploited as a TV show location.
When Lacey arrives in Christmas Mountain one of the first people she meets is Jacob, the sparks fly but is there a future for a local boy and a city girl.
This story was lovely, the characters were very well built, Ribbons is a secret star, you can almost imagine all the shops and tourist attractions.
This is a fabulous book and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Lacey Lane is the producer of a hit reality dating tv show, which is set in a different exotic location each season. Lacey, hopeful of a big promotion, travels to Christmas Mountain to scout it out as the next location for the show. Arriving shortly before Christmas, Lacey experiences the full magic of Christmas Mountain. Getting to know the locals, she begins to question her lifestyle and emphasis she puts on work.
This book was a fun, easy read, that reminded me of a delightful, cheesy Christmas movie. I could picture the romantic little town and was swept up in all the Christmas themed venues. A fun read in the lead up to Christmas!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely enjoyed this Christmas Romance story. All of the characters were cheerful and sweet. The writing style takes you into the world of this book. You are in Christmas Mountain, Montana. The setting sounds absolutely perfect for Christmas. I absolutely highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook is in stores for $9.99 (USD).
Great Christmas story, full of romance and fun! Scenic descriptors make the book come to life in your hands. Very enjoyable read, would be great for the beach.
I received an ebook ARC from Netgalley and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Note: I've had a strange run, lately, of picking books that belong in series, when I haven't read the other books in the series!! Luckily -- this book was fun to read all by itself. And while I'm sure there were some little nods to previous stories, I didn't feel like it I was missing anything integral to this story. (Yes, I definitely plan to get caught up!)
Initial Thoughts/Expectations:
It's after Christmas, and this was on my "I meant to read it, but life got in the way" list. I was in need of a bit of cheer, so what the hay -- there's no bad time for Christmas cheer, right? This was my first story from the author, so I wasn't familiar with her writing style, but I had high hopes it would check off my "feel good" boxes.
What I Loved:
Ok -- so, speaking of boxes... let's check a few off...
"Big City" girl making the best of her life after a rough childhood - check.
"Small Town" boy who is genuinely kind, helpful, and loves his community - check.
Sweet "meet-cute" that makes us laugh and swoon a little - check.
Entire town that has fallen right out of a Christmas snow globe - check.
Quirky neighbors who are witty and charming - check.
Characters who are trying to make the best choices for themselves -- and find a way to make the best choices for everyone - check.
Bumps in the road, but everything works out in the end - check.
Stereotypical (at times) but still super cute -- check, check, check.
Yup -- this checked all my "feel good" boxes.
What I Didn’t Love:
Honestly -- this was everything I wanted it to be.
I wish I had read the others in the series first, to know more of their stories, but that's on me, not this book. Like I said, I wasn't missing anything in this story, however it would have been nice to greet the others who obviously have a history as "old friends".
Final Thoughts:
Definitely happy to have read this -- even if it's not cold outside and nothing is covered in candy cane stripes! This sweet little romance was fun and I'm absolutely looking forward to more in this series, and others, by this author.
I agree that this book would be a perfect movie. It was definitely a feel good read and is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. It is very well written with a beautiful plot.
Many thanks to Hatco Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A sugar plum Christmas by Susan Hatler.
City girl and former foster child Lacey Lane arrives in Christmas Mountain to do research for a hit reality dating show she produces. If the location gets approved for filming then she’ll receive a bonus that will allow her to buy her own house—a forever home after a lifetime of moving from place to place.
A brilliant read with great characters. Great story. I love the cover. 5*.
A "Hallmark Movie" type romance. A pleasing read on a cold winter day. While love at first sight is an standard of the romance genre, this one brings hints of realism to any reader who experiences winters with lots of snow.
Arriving in Christmas Mountain Lacey Lane has work to do finding wonderful places for settings for a tv series. She hadn't any thoughts of falling in love with the small town and its people but she did. Follow her story and see for yourself what a wonderful place this is. A very well written novel and a real pleasure to read. 5 stars and worth every one of them.
Thanks to Netgaley and publisher for this ARC
