This book started off OK, but went a bit downhill towards the end, once the men revealed their true colours (but they were all the same by this point). The characters were all quite shallow, including Abigail.
I have enjoyed Peter Swanson's previous books, but this isn't his best work.

A short, easy read which would be great for a 'beach read'.
Peter Swanson's books are usually very well thought through, with lots of twists that keep you guessing, however, this one fell short.
It was fairly easy to see what was coming and slightly frustrating that the main character appeared blind to it.
I found it was difficult to get invested with any of the characters, and would have liked them to have more depth.

Slight spoiler -

Frightening insight into the psychology of some men.
However, you can tell this book was written by a man, as I don't believe a woman would have stayed on that island if she was so outnumbered by men in today's society.

Peter Swanson has a way of writing the most immersive, captivating mysteries that once you start reading, you can't stop - and I'm pleased to say this book is not an exception to this rule!!

Wow, I was really taken with this book and found myself reading until 1am ... not such a good idea when you’ve got to get up for work at 4am, but that’s tomorrow’s problem - well today’s problem 🤔 Anyway, I couldn’t put it down, it was really fast paced, twisty and dark! Not what I expected when I started reading it! The characters and the setting are both written really well and it’s very immersive! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great read, really glad I got this ARC! Thank you so much to Netgalley, Peter May and the publisher!

I really enjoyed the tension and build up, I didn’t expect to happen what actually happened.

Such an easy read that I couldn’t put down!

A woman makes a mistake on her bachelorette party, just weeks before her wedding to a kind, rich man. She thinks the mistake is in the past, until she sees a man who knows all about what she is done, and she is scared he is stalking her.

Newly married, Abigail and Bruce honeymoon on an idyllic island. Except, something isn't quite right there. In fact, things are very wrong.

As is always the case when I read a Peter Swanson novel, I was transfixed from start to finish. Every Vow You Break is a fine piece of storytelling. There is little filler; the drama starts at the beginning, and doesn't let up.

I was surprised by the direction the story began to turn in, and I was satisfied with the conclusion.

If I had one minor criticism, I'd say that there are few rounded characters, but the fast-paced plot renders this a matter of little importance.

If you've never read Peter Swanson, what are you waiting for?

Thanks to Peter Swanson, NetGalley, and Faber and Faber Ltd for this copy.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An exciting enjoyable book, although it was for me a little far-fetched. I would have preferred a few more twists and turns. A recommended read nonetheless.

Abigail Baskin is trying to make it in New York when she meets a handsome stranger who woos her hard. After a whirlwind, they marry and he whisks her off to an idyllic isolated island for their honeymoon. She rapidly realises he is still a relative stranger and the island hides some secrets of its own and she's fighting for survival.
This very fast-paced thriller is very moreish, incredibly neatly plotted but ultimately unsatisfying. The characters are under-written and awash with money to overcome all obstacles. I have read several of Peter Swanson's books and enjoyed them. This was less interesting to me.

Thank you @netgalley and @faberbooks for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Although I have "The Kind Worth Killing" unread on my shelves for ages, this new title is the first Peter Swanson book I have actually read.
Having heard nothing but praise for his work my expectations were high.

Synopsis:
Abigail's life is about to change dramatically the day she meets Bruce. Not only is he very rich, he is also smitten with Abigail from the first moment he laid eyes on her.
Their romance developes quickly and ultimately leads to a marriage proposal.
At her bacheloret party in California, arranged by her husband to be Abigail has a few drinks to many and ends up spending the night with an interesting and mysterious stranger. When morning comes she feels terrible though.
Knowing Bruce' thoughts about infidelity, Abigail decides not to tell anything and tries to erase the mistake from her memory. But when back home, during her wedding and on her honeymoon she finds that the stranger she had her one night stand with has all but forgotten about her. In fact she has no idea how big the consequences of that one night will be...

Thoughts:

So I know this will probably be an unpopular opinion but this one felt rather meh to me. The story has a slow start and there is quite a bit of talk about Abigail's past which I didn't find necessary. I kept waiting for the action to happen. Their was a gradual built up of tension there, together with some red flags but, it wasn't until the end of the book that things started to speed up and got more twisted. There is only Abigail's narrative and maybe that's why it felt a bit to one dimensional to me too.

I had intended to read this book this month and upon coming to read this, it has been deleted from my collection. I was really looking forward to it, as I had really enjoyed another of the authors books. Best wishes for the release.

I did enjoy Every Vow You Break. It was filled with suspense and tension, the setting of the island was a perfect setting for a creepy thriller which I think added to the overall creepiness of the book. I did find myself shocked at some of the twists while predicting one of the earlier ones. The twists towards the end are very shocking but i'm not overly sure its in a positive way. Some aspects just feel way to unpredictable and unrealistic. which sometimes I don't mind so it never bothered me too much. just left me thinking what the hell??

I would recommend this book as it is a book I could not put down full of tension. 4 stars only because I was not that keen on any of the characters.

Every Vow You Break really earns its tag as an addictive thriller – it’s very entertaining: fast paced, atmospheric and a lot of fun to read!

The story follows Abigail, who is just about to get married. But there’s a problem – during the hen party trip, she got very drunk and slept with a mysterious stranger. Although she feels terrible about it, she doesn’t let it derail her and her groom-to-be, Brent,’s upcoming wedding. But on the honeymoon, things start to get very strange…

I don’t want to give too much away about this novel because part of the fun is in the surprises and the twists that come along with it. You need to suspend your disbelief for a fair portion of it, but this novel really delivers a thrilling read that, although featuring lots of action, also manages to build a creepy atmosphere too that just gets more and more intense!

Really enjoyed this one and I’ve found that Peter Swanson’s previous novels that I’ve read have really delivered too, so he’s definitely a highly rated author for me when I feel like reading something fast-paced, entertaining and intense!

I'm not really sure what to say about this book except that I didn't enjoy it. I found it to be boring, predictable and the ending, oh my gosh that ending was just stupid as well as completely unbelievable. And let us not forget the characters, I didn't like them, Abigail was annoying and ditsy and Bruce was wierd. That pretty much sums this book up. It's a very unforgettable book that I won't even remember in a week.

Abigail falls in love with the charming and very rich Bruce, however at her bachelorette party she starts to doubt her upcoming marraige and ends up having a one night stand with a stranger. Upon returning from her bachelorette party she decides to forget all about the stranger she slept with and pretend nothing happened, deciding not to tell her husband to be. However on their honeymoon which is on a secluded island with no internet, cell phone service or no way of interacting with the outside world, Abigail runs into the man she slept with on her bachelorette party. Did he follow her?? Is he stalking her?? And why does strange things seem to be happening on the island that no-one else is taking seriously or even believing when Abigail tells them, including her new husband??

I genuinely thought going into this book that it would be great, the plot intruiged me and Peter Swanson is an excellent author, The Vow You Break however was a complete let down and I'm sorry to say but also a complete and utter bore. There was no suspense or mystery (that might have something to do with the fact that I guessed where the story was going after a few chapters.) The story and writing didn't in anyway draw me in and realistically I should have just DNF'd it, I kept putting it down and didn't have any desire to pick it back up. I just wasn't interested and didn't care what was going to happen. The characters were all one dimensional and boring. There was just no anything when it came to this book, it was just meh, and the ending was so beyond stupid and unbelievable, I literally got to the end and thought - I suffered the whole way through this book to get to the end just for that, Are you kidding me?? So yeah suffice to say I did not enjoy this and I wouldn't recommend - actually to be fair if you go into this knowing that it's not actually a psycholigical thriller as it is advertised but is more of a suspend your belief for a moment, wierd kind of spooky thriller, then yes this is the book for you, however if your looking for a good psychological thriller then don't bother picking this one up. You will be disappointed and bored.

2 Stars.

I was intrigued by the blurb of this book. It didn't disappoint. At one stage I couldn't read the words fast enough as I was desperate to discover what was to happen.

Abigail is about to be married to a man she is very much in love with. But on her bachelorette weekend, she has a moment of doubt and has sex with a stranger who won't even give her his real name. Things clarified in her mind, she marries Bruce, and goes on a perfect honeymoon on a secluded island in Maine. But once there, things seem incredibly odd - there are only two women guests on the island, and then the stranger from her bachelorette weekend turns up. Her perfect honeymoon is about to become a nightmare.

I want to preface this by saying that this is exactly the type of book that I would pick up if I saw it in a shop. The blurb makes it sound exciting, tense, and thrilling. However, this really missed the mark for me. I can totally understand why others may like it, but I think there's a number of things that meant I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped to.

Firstly, I found the entire plot of the honeymoon very unbelievable. I don't know if that's because I've just never been exposed to something like that, but it was a bit far-fetched for me. And I called the "twist" incredibly early on. I also didn't care about any of the characters. I find a thriller particularly enjoyable when I have someone to root for, and I found that all the characters were so unlikable in the first half of the book that I just didn't care what happened to them in the second half.

Also, a note on the content of this - CW: mentions of rape and consent issues, gaslighting, murder/death, mind games, men being general horrible people. I really hated these aspects of the book and how they were written in. I am normally fine with books that contain similar content, but the way this was formed and written felt really off. I sort of felt like there was some sort of revelry in the way the men were treating the women in this book, and I really didn't enjoy that at all.

"Every Vow You Break" was one of my most anticipated books of the year. I really wanted to love it but unfortunately it wasn't for me.

We follow Abigail whose dream honeymoon becomes a nightmare when her one night stand suddenly shows up and her life is turned up side down.

The premise of the book sounded really good but unfortunately the execution didn't wow me. Creepy, isolated resort in the middle of the forest, cut off from the rest of the world and a stalker who claims they belong together. Sounds good but sadly everything else fell short for me. The story was full of unlikable characters, unbelievable events and predictable from the start.

I am sure lots of people will love this book but unfortunately it was a miss for me

Every Vow You Break by Peter Swanson isn’t nearly as gripping as some of his other books. I didn’t take to the main character, Abigail. Her indiscretion while on her bachelorette party is hard to believe and sets the scene for what’s to come. The story cranks up a gear when newly weds Abigail and Bruce go off on their honeymoon but, by then I had lost interest in the outcome. A disappointing read for me but nevertheless, I can understand fans of the author enjoying the book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Faber & Faber for the opportunity to read this book.

This novel starts with Abigail meeting Bruce; seemingly the perfect man and who proposes to her. As the bacherlorette weekend arrives Abigail's perfectly laid plans are derailed by the mysterious stranger Scottie and it's from this point on that things start to take a dark turn. This is a compelling and addictive page turner that was made more chilling with the isolation of an island setting. I couldn't put it down and this is definitely on a par with my all time favourite Peter Swanson 'The Kind Worth Killing'.

A fast-paced well-written thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat.. Having read other books by Peter Swanson I was excited to read this one and in many ways I wasn’t disappointed: but the subject matter of yet another story revolving around violence towards women and her having to escape that situation has stopped me giving the book 5 stars.

This is the second book I read by this author (after All The Beautiful Lies), and it did not disappoint.

When the story starts, Abigail is about to marry Bruce, young millionaire. If she seems quite content in her choice, she still has some doubt about her husband and her reasons for marrying, even more so after her bachelorette party, where she et Scottie.
But when Scottie shows up in New York, and then at her honeymoon (on a secluded island, no less), she wonders if this man will be her undoing. She feels even more trapped that not everything is what it seems on that island.

Even though they are unsettling, I always love stories with a claustrophobic feel to it, so I really enjoy that story.

I thought the ending could have gone differently (I had a whole scenario in my mind at some point, but, oh well...), but I still enjoy the ride, and I will for sure read another book by Peter Swanson.
