Whist I enjoyed reading this, I did find it unrealistic and just a little bit too far fetched, particularly when I read to the end. I found the way it switched from past to present tense hard to follow at times. All four girls who were in their teenage years “ the wild girls” , seemed to have even more issues in their adult lives. The idea of staying in a luxury safari lodge in Botswana for a few days to celebrate Felicity’s30th birthday when they hadn’t seen each other for years, seemed improbable but then when all three of her friends arrived there was no sign of her or anyone else .You would have expected them to be concerned and not sit and eat and drink what had been left out for them.
Perhaps I am the wrong age group for The Wild Girls and younger readers would enjoy this book and storyline.

Wow, what a roller coaster of emotions this book takes you on. Wild Things is an incredibly tense story of four estranged friends reunited for a holiday of a lifetime in Botswana. Hannah is a new mother, desperate for her baby but also trapped by him. Alice is a teacher, enduring an abusive, long term relationship with alcohol. Grace is a virtual recluse, harbouring a secret and bitterness against those who wouldn't listen to her. An offer from Felicity, to celebrate her birthday with a luxury holiday in Africa is too good to be true... Previously she was the flame around which they fluttered but something or someone has come between them. The story starts with two dead bodies and so we are drawn into an unfolding tragedy right from the off. Who is dead and who is alive? Who is the killer and who can we trust? They don't trust each other and they keep their secrets buried but someone knows what they did. There's no one around, no reliable phone signal, no wifi, no help... And where is Felicity...?

I can count on one hand the number of books I’ve read in a day, and this is one of them. A new author for me but it certainly won’t be the last I read by Phoebe Morgan; this was a cracking psychological thriller.
Grace, Alice and Hannah have been invited to the 30th birthday party of their mutual friend, Felicity. They were inseparable up until two years ago but an unexpected invitation arrives for a long weekend in Botswana. All expenses paid. They each have their reasons for cautiously accepting.
A very easy writing style, with each chapter relating to different characters and eventually, different timelines. As the story progresses, the background to the breakdown of the friendship is gradually revealed but you always sense that the whole reason is not fully disclosed.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Hannah, Alice, Felicity and Grace used to be close friends, once called the “Wild Girls” but have not been in contact with each other for two years. When Felicity invites them to an all paid birthday weekend in a Botswana lodge, they are all hoping the time together will bond their drifted friendship.

But things do not run smoothly, when they arrive Felicity is not there to meet them and there is no sign of the party that she promised them. With no phone signal they are truly on their own - or are they!!!

I loved the location of this book, set on a deserted holiday resort and with a name like Deception Valley Lodges you know this is not going to be a happy holiday!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

In a luxury lodge on Botswana’s sun-soaked plains, four friends reunite for a birthday celebration. Arriving at the safari lodge, a feeling of unease settles over them. There’s no sign of the party that was promised. There’s no phone signal. They’re alone, in the wild.

Oh my word I thought this book was fantastic. From the first chapter I was drawn right into the book and felt myself caught up immediately in the story. A sinister and at times chilling read which I highly recommend. 5⭐️

I received a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review thanks to NetGalley and HQ.

Wow, this was so psychologically twisted! I honestly can’t believe how quick I read this book, it’s like no time had passed!

This immediately drew me in with the first chapter detailing the aftermath. Clever. Makes you want to read on to find out what happened to get to that ending.

Throughout I found it rather creepy. Subtle things happening that seem weird on reflection. I was so glad that all the details were revealed in the end!

The ending confused me slightly that I had to re-read the last couple of chapters to make sense of what had happened. I want to say the who-dunnit was unexpected but looking back on it, it’s actually quite obvious when you get the whole backstory.

To sum it up, it’s tense and dark but adventurous and mysterious.

The Wild Girls is an highly accomplished thriller that shocks you one minute and wrong foots you the next.
Grace, Alice and Hannah have been invited to celebrate their friend Felicity’s birthday at a safari lodge in Botswana. Friends since childhood, they fell out 2 years earlier and believe this is a chance to put things right.
They arrive to find the lodge deserted. Where is Felicity? What are the strange notes they keep finding? And most importantly, what happened that fateful night two years ago and what secrets are they hiding from each other?
This is an excellent book from an experienced writer at the top of her game.
Thank you to #netgalley and #HQstories for allowing me to review this ARC

This was a really easy to read, addictive thriller!

The first half of this book had me absolutely gripped. I was on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns.

I didn't love the second half as much but it was still enjoyable.

I loved the writing style. It was super easy to read. I flew through the book in a couple of days.

I also loved the setting. You really felt like you were in Botswana with the characters.
Although, they weren't the most likeable girls ever.

This is a perfect holiday/beach read, highly recommend

TW: murder, violence, rape, miscarriage and child abuse

loved this. Playing out on the page like the very best of old school horror movies, The Wild Girls is a twisty, creepy and addictive thriller with a really excellent setting.

We have a group of friends who fell apart after one emotional night years ago. Now invited to Botswana to celebrate the birthday of one of their number, the hope is to put it all behind them. But, well, things are not going to go according to plan.

Phoebe Morgan creates an intriguing and layered group dynamic between these friends, all of whom are now in life various circumstances. The setting really pops – portrayed as beautiful isolation giving the sense of a locked room mystery – you really sink into it, feeling the heat and the panic.

The plotting is clever, taut and authentic, the ending brilliantly done and overall this was a most excellent read.

Recommended.

Wow.. what a book! I read this book in a couple of days as I could not put it down. The way the characters are set and built up to the big moment, paused and then gone back to where it all started was a great addition to the book. I had my suspicions on who it was but that did keep changing as the ending got closer and the ending was fantastic. A great thriller that really keeps you on your toes with some shocking twists and the realities (to an exent!) of a friendship group in their late twenties. This book explores love, mental health, infertility, domestic abuse and whole host of other themes without feeling like it is trying too hard. All in all, a really good book and would recommend it to anyone that likes thrillers! Thank you for the advanced copy!

This was a great book to read. It starts off with a bang and then keeps you going all the way through to the end. At times I found it lagged and being a mum myself I couldn’t believe that a new mum would fly off to Botswana and leave a little baby behind it’s something that wouldn’t even enter my mind. Apart from that this book was good. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

The Wild Girls by Phoebe Morgan is a compulsive psychological suspense that I just could not put down and I read it in just one sitting.
Four friends are about to embark on a holiday to try to rekindle their once very close friendship. It really is the dream holiday but little do they know that it is about to turn into their worst nightmare.
It is written from the point of view of the four friends, with clear demarcation between the characters. It is written across a dual timeline, with a now and before, urging the reader to piece together the clues.
The story twists and turns and keeps you on your toes as to which one of the girls is which. In spite of this, there were surprises and revelations throughout, and seeing different events unfold from each woman's perspective kept me on tenterhooks. Along with mysterious messages and the aptly named 'Deception Valley Lodges', the story takes you on a rollercoaster ride to uncover secrets and betrayals in this clever thriller. I do think the ending is a little rushed after the clever deceit and unravelling throughout the rest of the story.
I would recommend this to anyone that likes fast-paced psychological thrillers.

I would like to thank HQ and Netgalley for an advance review copy of The Wild Girls in return for an honest review.

This was a really solid mystery thriller. The characters were well-developed and interesting. The writing was suspenseful and kept me engaged the entire way through.

The main thing that left me feeling let down was that the plot twists were generic and predictable. I was hoping for something a bit more intense. I also felt that way about the climax of the book - it fell a little flat for me even though the rest of the book was very intriguing.

The Wild Girls is a mystery thriller, set in Botswana, that carries a clear a sinister tone throughout. A group of four friends, that have drifted apart over the years, come together for a birthday party.
Invited to an all-expenses paid weekend for Felicity’s birthday, Grace, Hannah and Alice head to the interestingly names Deception Valley Lodge in Botswana. Arriving to luxury, their every need looks to be catered for but where is the birthday girl?
From start to finish you cannot shake the sinister feeling that all is not going to go well in and that the characters are in a lot of danger.
It is very well written, especially the characters; they were totally relatable and each had their own insecurities or anxieties. The story went from the present day to their past and I found that this told the story well, we saw why each character was “flawed” and how they had all come to drift apart.
As the drama unfolds, I was on the edge of my seat. Dark, intense and thrilling, Phoebe Morgan writes so well. I would’ve liked a bit more of Botswana included, such an exotic and out of the ordinary place to go – I felt it could have been celebrated some more.
For fans of creepy, thrillers this is a must read.

This was a tense and gripping story with believable characters. I liked the way the story unfolded from each of their perspectives and the moving in three parts from now to then and back to the present. It was very atmospheric and really kept me engaged till the end.

I finished this book in a day! Lots of atmosphere and tension, a general sense of unease and a twisty ending - big ticks from me. I liked the structure of the book, it starts with current day and the trip to Botswana, then goes onto why the friends were estranged before flipping back to the aftermath of the events at the safari lodge. I haven’t read a book that flowed like this before but it worked. Four stars, would recommend.

I found it gripping and tight and very enthralling... to begin with. I wasn’t so keen on the ending and was not convinced by the twists I thought it was a bit clumsily handled and just a tad unbelievable. The beginning with the end just jar a bit too much with me.
But having said that it’s very atmospheric and tense and one that people will enjoy.

The Wild Girls is a mystery thriller that I kind of worked out early on what was happening but didn’t deter my enjoyment of this book.
Grace, Hannah, Alice and Felicity we’re best friends until a couple of years ago until something happened that split them apart until now when Felicity has reached out to the other three with an offer they can’t turn down. An all expenses paid for trip to Botswana to celebrate Felicity’s birthday, flights, accommodation and everything else paid for so there’s no excuse for anyone not coming. All three girls have a secret but who knows what they do and how will it affect them if someone else knows.
This was a great thriller, I liked it was a little bit different from anything I’ve read at the moment. I liked how the book was split into now, then and back to now so you could get greater background knowledge on the characters and why they were acting they way they were. It was a tense read at times and did cover some sensitive issues.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
