Thank NetGalley for the preview!

I really liked this book but also felt like it was a little wishy washy. Annie often says things that contradict each other. She also was very frustrating with her romantic decisions at times. After the honeymoon part the book got muddy. I loved the Australia bits and the romance was good!

The Lucky Escape was fairly predictable, but really delightful, fun, and sweet. If you like Laura Jane Williams, or similar authors, you will probably like this. I found it a good, doing the school run listen.

Reviewed for audio already: Overall I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow going, however, a cute romantic story. The whole jilting at the alter part wasn’t the best part and her mum was super annoying! It did set the scene though and the following storyline of a rekindled flame and finding love when you least expect it was read and written well.

Laura Jane Williams doing what she does best. Witty and heartwarming this is the story of Annie who is jilted on her wedding day. Her incredible not to be in laws insist she take the honeymoon still and a chance encounter at the gym sees her agreeing to take old friend Patrick with her.

Predictable in the best way this is a fabulous summer read.

An easy, breezy beach read. A modern romance novel, with a given predictability, self-discovery, and personal growth - like most in this genre. This was an easy read including a slow burn romance that left me feeling good. I have never read anything from this author and I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely look for more of her works until he future.

The Lucky Escape is a fun read. I loved the forced proximity, the whirlwind of taking what should have been your honeymoon with a friend from the past and trying to navigate all the new feelings. The tension was great, the meet-cute was the right amount of entertaining and awkward. It's funny and fluffy, with a little bit of drama, it's a great, quick-ish read.

"The Lucky Escape" by Laura Jane Williams is a pleasure to read, like all of her books. The writing is relatable and easy to follow, and the heartwarming romance between Annie and Patrick is delightful. Despite the predictability of the plot, it's still an enjoyable read. If you're looking for a light and heartwarming romance novel to curl up with, then "The Lucky Escape" is definitely worth a read.

This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written.

I was so shocked how this book started with what he did to her that I really wanted her to have her happy after.

Loved the friendships she had.
And the relationship with her sister.

Travelling around Oz was cool
The music festival loved that scene

I really felt for her with her mums relationship.

Loved Richard.

Book on second chances, romance, friendship and family. Defo a must read.

“The Lucky Escape” is the perfect beach read. Is it predictable? Sure. But is it an easy, feel good book? Absolutely. It is the story of a woman’s growth and how she overcomes being left jilted at the altar. Anyone who has had to pick up the pieces and move on will enjoy this book. It deals with heartbreak in a light hearted way and is not too heavy. Add in a slow burn romance and this book is easy to read!

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of “The Lucky Escape” by Laura Jane Williams.

The Lucky Escape by Laura Jane Williams

This is what I would call a contemporary romance novel. Annie is getting ready for her wedding (like day of the wedding getting ready) when the wedding planner brings her a message from her fiancé letting her know the wedding is off.

Annie hides away for days then decides to get on with her life. Her first stop - a horrendous sounding CrossFit like work out place where she runs into an old friend, Patrick. Annie decides to go on her luxury honeymoon and decides to take Patrick along.
I’m sure you know where this is going but I especially liked the travel through Australia.

Loved this. Grabbed my attention from the start and didn't let go. Read in one sitting. The first book I've read by this writer, but I will be looking out for more.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

From the cover I was expecting a light hearted romance but unfortunately that is not what I got. It's not a bad book, but unfortunately it wasn't a book for me.

It was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life, except two hours before she is due to get married Annie finds out that Alexander has jilted her. Unsure on where she goes from here she bumps into an old friend Patrick who manages to bring an ease to her troubled world. Opting to take him on the honeymoon she should have been taking with her husband, they have fun together. But when they share a kiss she worries that everything is happening too fast and if it will all go up in a puff of smoke like her last relationship.
