Now everyone that knows me, knows I love a good binge read ... sooooo ... binge read is exactly what I did. I was so captured by this series and the characters that I barely paused to eat.
Hanlon doesn't make things easy for herself in this one as she takes on a dangerous criminal from a previous book in her efforts to help a woman whose husband is missing. Sidelined from the Met, Hanlon is bored and desperate for action - of course that means explosive scenes, thrilling action and tense edge of your seat moments. Hanlon's loyalty and vulnerability make her such an intriguing character, that no matter how often she breaks the law, you are on her side.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.
I have read the first two DI Hanlon books under different titles a while ago and really enjoyed them. I enjoyed this book, although it took a while for me to get into it as it had been so long since I read this series. Once the characters and what happened in previous books slotted into place in my mind, I found this a fast paced and thrilling read. I think DI Hanlon is a likeable character - a loner who doesn’t care what people think of her and is very loyal to those she likes, and can come across as being ‘cold’. This book had everything I like, plenty of action, twists, turns and suspense. The last quarter of the book was a hell of a read. I’m very much looking forward to the next one in the series.
Another Russian influenced crime caper from Hanlon and co with the return of several characters.
I find the constant references to her strength, Envers boxing past and yin and yang symbol needlessly repetitive.
An engaging but completely unbelievable read
A gripping thriller featuring DCI Hanlon. The reader, having started it, will not want to put it down. A great read.
