This book was truly magical in every possible way . Every story was so well written and the illustrations that accompany it were exquisite and it fit in perfectly . These are short bedtime stories which are rich in facts that equip children with the power to face the harsh realities of this world . These are life lessons that should be taught at school but aren't ! A must read for all age groups !!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an E arc of this book !
My daughter and I throughly enjoyed reading this book at bedtime. We read a chapter at night together, which was perfect for my almost 8 year old. Though she was reading this on her own as well. This really helped feed her newfound love of biographies. I love the simple but masterful story telling. Our favorite story was Junko Tabei and how she climbed her first mountain.

If I remember correctly I’ve read one of these before, in French, and it was a few years back, when I was younger.
But I still loved them, I think they are amazing, educative, interesting and we can learn a lot from them.
I’d definitly recommend them, not only for the youngsters under us, but also to the adults between us.
I loved the Rebel Girls book and it is my dream to read it with my son when he is older. I like how the book gives us bite-sized true stories to think about. The struggles of the women and how they overcame them are documented beautifully. The illustrations are wonderful.
The five women featured in this collection are as different as you can imagine, yet have made a profound change in the world. This is a book that should be read by every child and adult.
5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
The Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is an excellent book collection that teaches readers about amazing women in history. The series takes great care to feature women of different backgrounds, races, and occupation. The stories give a quick highlight into each woman's story, designed in a way that will make readers want to continue reading about her.
I know that whenever I have children, this series will be the first I buy for my little one. It's so important for children to learn about women's accomplishments, especially for young girls. This series does just that.
I highly recommend this. The books was all about empowerment for young girls. The imagination and creativity that was embedded into this book was great. I actually started thinking about my childhood and all the imagination I would have. Just fabulous!
I don't think I can start this review any other way than gushing over the illustrations and how beautiful they are!
Wow, they really make the book special!
This is suitable to be read to younger children, the language was very accessible and the chapters a nice length to keep interest/attention. A great introduction to historical women told in a storybook fashion. The inclusion of the activities at the end are also great for further learning and to test comprehension or see what interests the child more than the story itself.
A really inspiring collection for young readers, and a wonderful gift for budding readers (and feminists of all ages and genders!) Beautifully illustrated and designed, as you would expect from the Rebel Girls series!
Unfortunately I did not make it to the end of these books - but this is solely because there are a lot of volumes there and they are rather long!
I read most of the book about Ada Lovelace and I really liked it. The illustrations are great and I love how they connect to each story. It was great to read about a woman who was brilliant and knew what her passion was and she did not let her family or society decide what she wanted to do with her life, It was awesome that she found herself a female mentor who understood her! I don’t know how much of the book is based on real life and how much is based on real history but I loved learning about Ada.
When I have more time I will definitely pick these books up again. This volume definetily captured the feminist themes the books promised.
Lovely lovely lovely important book.
Very suitable for young ones and the language is very friendly. Highly recommend. I learnt a lot too!
My daughter and I love these books! They are the perfect length and they read like a story with beautiful illustrations. I love the women they picked for this series because we were not familiar with all of them. Great set of books and will recommend them to others.
I loved this book! It was so colorful and perfect for young girls to be inspired by. Heck, I am an adult and even found myself to be inspired. I would recommend this to any girl about 8 years of age and over. A wonderful collection. 5 out of 5 stars.
I absolutely love this series of books! The content is accurate, and engaging, and each chapter is brief enough to read whenever you have a few minutes to spare. Every school library and classroom needs to have these books, and they should be shared with all children, not just girls!
As a fan of the Rebel Girls series, this chapter book collection did not disappoint. Another great addition! #GoodNightStoriesforRebelGirls #NetGalley
As a bookseller, I had not previously been introduced to The Rebel Girls enterprise, which apparently has a strong following. I trust these books too will find an appreciative audience. For me, the illustration and book design seemed lackluster and did not entice me to read the biographical entries included. Also the targeted age group and the idea of Good Night Stories seemed a mismatch.
These are great chapter stories. Gives these girls the confidence to follow their dreams and allow them to be different.
This is a set of wonderful books following the lives of Ada Lovelace, Madam C.J. Walker, Wangari Maathai, Junko Tabei and Alicia Alonso. Each book is a brief account of their lives and how they became rebellious to their era. I really enjoyed briefly learning of who they were and what they added to our history as women. I highly recommend the set and I thank #netgalley for providing me with an early review copy. I loved it.
Thank you NetGalley for the review copy of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - The Chapter Book Collection. My younger students (I teach 5-8th grade) would definitely like to read more Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. I love the longer chapter book stories found in this edition as well as the strong female role models found within. The stories are engaging and the narrative format pushes the story forward. .
A beautiful set of books. I love the rebel girls book series and these are a brilliant next step. Well written with beautiful illustrations. Great for children moving into chapter books or to be read out loud to your child. My daughter is 10 and although she now reads more challenging books herself we really enjoyed reading these together. We both learnt a lot!
I LOVE the Rebel Girls series, and this little boxset didn't disappoint. My favourite of the set was probably Alicia Alonso, who I'd never heard of. The illustrations are super cute as always, and this set is ideal as a gift for slightly older readers, as they go into a bit more depth than the usual ones.
