This book is a winner, and one that I definitely recommend to crocheters who are interested in amigurumi. It provides clear and concise instructions, complete with helpful and adorable pictures. To put the instructions to he test, I followed the instructions and made the owl and the kitten for myself, and the tortoise and squirrel for some young family members. I had no trouble with any of the four patterns, and each project turned out to look like the photos (accounting for me using different yarn colors and the like)..
I work in a special library, and this book would not serve our purpose or patron base. However, I have specifically recommended it to my knit/ crochet group, and recommend that my local city and county libraries buy it. All in all, this is a solid, quality addition to the current amigurumi book options out there.
A phenomenal collection of patterns that were easy to follow and lovely to create!
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Kristen Rask and becker! Books for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.
Great little book for crochet fans. The amigurumi animals are so cute and the instructions are clear and easy to follow, You'll soon have your own little yarn forest!!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
This book is adorable! I have always struggled with crochet, so was worried that these prijects would be out of my depth, but was overjoyed to be allowed to review this book anyway. Luckily, I was completely wrong, as many of these are in fact accessible to complete beginners like myself. I have been able to make some adorable new fluffy friends, as well as passing on some of the more complex patterns to a friend who is much better with crocheting than I am - she loves then and found them easy to make and thoroughly enjoyable.
There are a good rage of projects within the book, for all levels of ability. Definitely recommend.
Easy to understand. Patterns in American but easy to convert . Thank you for allowing me to see this book as l usually buy my pattern books.
As a complete beginner of crocheting, this is a good book to start a new project during confinement. With clear photos and detailed instruction, I might be able to create something with the aid of the book. It sure does give me the motivation to start a new creation with the pretty images of completed projects.
When usually the author gave her own pattern, this one gave patterns submitted by various people, even as far as Philippines or Bosnia. This is a nice change to see how fun crocheting can be.
Super cute designs, clearly written patterns. I could see me making all of these a few times over, already made two foxes.
I'm new to crocheting anything beyond blankets, but this book certainly spurred me on. This book had easy to follow patterns and step by step, I didn't get too lost.
The items are adorable. I will certainly be making more.
This book is super cute! I appreciated the explanations at the beginning (and just how many photos there are of steps). It's easily understandable and the creatures are absolutely adorable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – becker & mayer! for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
this one is good, nice to follow picture and it is easy to make the items. I like it in this formate it allows me to take it anywhere and I never loose the pages or have them tear out I really liked
Combining two of my favourite past-times reading and crochet I was pleased to see this book pop up on Netgalley. Featuring 26 different animal projects this book is a compilation of projects from different contributors. For anyone new to the terminology, amigurumi is a Japanese word that's used as an umbrella term for knitting or crocheting small creatures or objects.
I figured the best way to review this book would be to get out my hook and actually give one of the projects a go. Based mainly on what spare wool I have lying around I decided to have a go at this very cute little pig.
The patterns are all written in US crochet terminology and I think they'd be suitable for someone with beginner crochet knowledge. There are back to basics instructions but personally I wouldn't try and learn crochet from scratch using a book, if you're a complete newbie I'd say go to YouTube, try some granny squares and then come back to amigurumi.
Its difficult to give a star rating to a craft book, I also find it hard to give them to cookery books; this is a great book for starting out with crocheting animals and for me the only problem is while its nice that lots of creators work I think I'd prefer if all the animals were the same style so the finished works felt like more of a farmyard set.
Loved this book. Requested it because I was interested, I have done some similar crafts before, it is really well written and easy to understand, it’s also easy to switch out colours for your own. Definitely surprised me how much I used it and I would definitely buy a copy to keep it handy.
Amigurumi Crochet Animals
This book is a collection of 28 different patterns from different yarn designers, each sharing a pattern for a cute little crocheted creature. From a monkey to a mouse. A fox to a fawn.
It’s a great book for beginners or more advanced crocheters. It starts with a breakdown of tools and techniques (with photos). It is also worth noting the terminology is all American terms. (Which was very different from English terms).
The instructions for each pattern are easy to understand and each one comes with a series of photos demonstrating the more complicated instructions. Like attaching body parts or inserting the eyes.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Amigurumi Crochet: Farm and Forest Animals does not disappoint! It has very clear step-by-step guidelines on how to crochet the cutest amigurumi. I would definitely buy a hard copy for children and friends.
I want to thank the author and Netgalley. I love to crochet and I have been doing amigurmi crochet for a few years now and was so excited to be gifted this book. I can't wait to make all these little animals for my nephews and niece. It is really hard to find some actual cute patterns online. The ones I have found I am just not a fan they are just not good enough for me to make. I hope to see more books like this!
Really enjoyed this book! I love making amigurumi figures and animals are always the cutest! Easy to understand and follow along with.
This beautifully presented book takes you on an adventure through farms and forests to meet all the cute critters that live there - and then gives you the pattern so you can make one at home.
A comprehensive beginners guide can be found at the beginning of the book, showing how to make each stitch, how to read a pattern and what the abbreviations in the patterns mean. I feel that the only way this section of the book could be improved was if they were to include a link to video demonstrations for each stitch.
I loved how each pattern is designed by a different artist, and each pattern includes a small bio of the artist.
If you fall in love with the style of a particular artist a section at the back of the book let’s you know where you can find out more about them and their work.
This book would be a perfect gift for the crafter in your life and is appropriate for a variety of ages.
I am a total beginner at crochet, having never previously picked up a hook, but having been given a kit (minus instructions) decided to give it a try.
I found the explanations easy to understand for the most part and imagine that anyone with even the slightest knowledge would have absolutely no trouble following them.
The patterns are simple to follow, with enough detailed information for a complete beginner, yet not too complicated. I tried one of the projects and aside from struggling to get the knack had no problem. There are also more difficult projects, so would suit any skill level.
The toys themselves are cute and whimsical and would be popular with children of all ages.
Great as an introduction to the craft with achievable results that are sure to impress after a little practice.
I thoroughly recommend this book for anyone with an interest in crochet
My sister is the crocheter of the family, I’m the cross stitcher so for this we joined forces.
When I spotted this and saw the cover image I thought we were onto a winner. The intention was to have a go at a design however that changed when we scrolled through the book as we both agreed only a couple of the designs struck us as cute—funnily enough those used on the cover—and sadly we weren’t inspired. .
Great idea showcasing the designs of different designers but you need eye catching designs and these fell very short.
This would make a nice gift for someone new to crochet who would like to learn the techniques and have lots of patterns together in the same place. New UK crocheters beware though, the instructions are in US terms so if you learn using this book you may find UK patterns confusing.
The patterns themselves are standard animals. The internet is full of tutorials for these kinds of toys so there is nothing here that experienced crocheters can't find elsewhere. But as an introduction, or a gift it would be fine.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-copy of this book.
