If you hold me Ciara Knight
Mary Beth Tanner high school sweetheart the romance ends when wins a football scholarship to another school and they lose contact as he leaves without a goodbye but they meet up years later to realise that this isn’t true and the people they trusted the most had lied can they start again and overcome the lies of the past to have the life they should have had ?
A great story and quirky characters set in a small town and people in the background always prepared to interfere in the best way. A lovely feel good book that Ciara Knight had down to an art form.
If You Hold Me, the fourth book in the Sugar Maple series by Ciara Knight, is a touching and heartwarming story about forgiveness and second chances. Mary Beth and Tanner find their HEA years after their teenage heartbreak was engineered by each of their manipulative parents with their own agendas in the guise of good parenting.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. The cover is so warm and cozy. Perfect for fall time!
Amazing loves very single page of this book . It was amazing and loved how the book was catching my attention non stop
If you Hold Me by Ciara Knight is a cute fun read. Mary-Beth and Tanner had been a couple when they were in high school. Tanner, the star football player with big dreams, and Mary-Beth his biggest fan. The something happened and Tanner took off to a different college than one they had agreed on and that was that. Or was it? Fast forward, Mary-Beth owns her own coffee shop In Sugar Maple, her hometown. Lo and behold, who appears, but Tanner. Sparks fly, but are they the good ones or bad. Each has a different story of their break-up. Whose is correct? Will they resolve their differences? What happens to their relationship? Only time will tell and if you want to know, then I recommend that you read this entertaining story. This is book #4 in the series. I haven’t read the previous ones but have plans to go back and catch up with the residents of the town.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest opinion.
This is a prequel in the ‘Sugar Maple’ Series,. There are 2 prequel books, 5 books in all. Confusing which order to read. I think I read the books in the wrong order. This is a historical series starting in WW2. Very interesting story and believable. Well written as usual by Ciara Knight. Being an American I enjoy British authors. I have recommended to my friends.
Rare are those books that carry great stories, unravel deep questions, and are easy to read at the same time. Books that upset and cheer you up at the same time, bring unwanted thoughts and burden you... But sometimes every reader needs to read a book that manages to relax you with its wit and easy theme. A book that brings laugh-out moments, eye-rolling and ease, something familiar, and yet insufficiently clarified ... Well, this is just such a book, perfect for a hot summer night, which will make you think about the difference between love and infatuation, about love in scarcity and time without love ...
High school love, surely you also have sweet-bitter memories of that period? A time when we want to dream and fly high, a time when all feelings culminate and every break-up seems like the end of the world.
Some loves start quietly, unexpectedly, but ignite in an unprecedented flame, which neither time nor distance can extinguish ..... An innocent love, torn apart in a meaningless moment, because of other people's desires, other people's interests ... but enough strong to throw sparks even after years ... Two people are needed, but always, in the end, one pays the price, or so it seems... That is the story of Tanner and Mary-Beth... A promising football star in his hometown and soon to be in college doesn’t need a girlfriend, or so his dad thought. Her mother couldn’t agree more and together they found the perfect opportunity to step in and change their children’s plans toward what they thought was best. But the plans are one thing, what will be realized could be completely different ... Years go by and the former high school sweethearts meet again ... older, wiser, different, and yet some desires stayed unchanged...
This is not the first time I have read a work by this author, but somehow I still manage to admire her writing style - eloquent and rich, elegant enough and easy to read, and interesting language structures. Interestingly captured scenes and fantastic descriptions completely complement the plot, which somehow seems quite real, situations in which the reader can easily find himself. The road to happily ever after is not easy, and the series of situations that the author skillfully takes us through, help us to feel the depth as well as the feelings of the main characters. The element of the small town, as well as the importance of family and friends, is subtly inserted in every segment of the piece.
Definitely a sweet romance that will provide you with a few-hour escape into the world of second-chance and renewed love. Easy to read and interesting, this novel is a great choice for all romantics.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a great addition to the series. There were times when I could have cried it was so touching. I enjoyed the dual POV format that the book is written in. It helps me to connect with the characters better and in a way that the author intended.
Tanner and Mary-Beth were high school sweethearts. They had their future mapped out. That is until events and lies tore them apart. Now after a decade apart, Tanner is back in town. Can these two figure out what happened and discover their love for each other again? Or has time changed them both in ways that they are better off without each other.
This is a sweet, clean romance that anyone can enjoy.
a nice easy book to read from first page to last and an enjoyable story not much else to remark just that its nice when some childhood romances turn out right after all
This author is fairly new to me. I have read a couple of her books and I have enjoyed all of them so far. This one was a beautiful second chance romance for two people whose hearts were broken because of some interfering parents. Ten years later, Tanner has returned to town to help his mom on the farm. Mary Beth is raising her teenage brother and both think the other left without as much as a goodbye. Neither wants to be hurt again but no one else has ever measured up to either of their remembrances of one another.
This was a clean story with some trying and difficult family dynamics. Mary Beth thought she had moved on from Tanner but she begins to realize that she has just been surviving and not really living without him. Tanner's angry and hurt and thinks Mary Beth gave up on him, breaking his heart. Will the secrets that have been kept from them both be enough to mend their broken hearts and have a happy ending?
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
If You Hold Me is the fourth book in the Sugar Maple series but the first one I have read. A sweet, clean, cosy romance this book features the love story of Mary-Beth Richards, one of the Fabulous Five and known as the Coffee Whisperer, and Tanner McCadden. I loved the setting and description of the Sugar Maple town-- it gave out warm, cosy vibes with a small knit community looking out for each other.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Author Collective 2.0 and the author Ciara Knight for the e-Arc of the book. The book was published on 13th January, 2021.
Loved reading this book and series. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Hopefully you enjoy it too
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I liked the book but somehow it didn't seem to get me as invested as others in the series... the characters are ok and likeable... but there's something missing for me which I cannot grasp. All in all it's a good read, as usual with this author.
Mary Beth and Tanner were high school sweethearts planning to continue their relationship at College. Fate stepped in, with a little help from their parents, and he got a scholarship to Notre Dame to play football.
Flash forward 10+ years, she runs a coffee shop in their home town and is guardian to her 17 year old brother, who is a football phenomenon in his own right. Tanner returns home after his father's death to help his mom run the family farm.
He's asked to coach the town football team headed for a major championship. Can they get past the old hurts and disappointments to forge a new relationship? I recommend reading to find out. You'll be glad you did!
I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
If You Hold Me by Ciara Knight is the fourth book in the Sugar Maple series. That is if you don’t count the 1940’s Christmas prequel book.. Certainly, it is the fourth of the Fabulous Five to receive a happily-ever-after. From beginning to end Mary-Beth’s story is a clean feel-good story of love, trust, football and second chances.
Coffee is more to my interest then reality shows to football but this story makes it all a great read. I love my visits to the Tennessee small town as well as most of the people in it. I really thought that If You Hold Me couldn’t surpass my favorite If You Cherish Me but it did. I might even can say I like football now besides having a greater appreciate for those who mold and guide the young people who play. I always have appreciated the coffee and those brewing whisperers.
Need a smile then I highly recommend If you Hold Me as well as the entire Sugar Maple series. Life is not perfect there but it is incredibly good.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received an ARC from the author and the publisher, Author Collective 20, through NetGalley for an honest review. Tanner and Mary-Beth were a couple when they were in high school and had made plans but the plans they made never happened.
Mary-Beth moved back home after college and opened, Maple Grounds coffee shop and was known as the Coffee Whisperer. When her parents decided they were going to move, she decided she would raise her young brother so he could stay where he was. Now he is a senior with straight A's and plays football. Tanner moves back home to save the family farm and he and Mary-Beth have a rocky start when they meet again. The coach of the football team gets done so her brother asks Mary-Beth to ask Tanner to coach them because he was the star when she was in high school. At first, she said no, but as her brother called her par-sis because she was both a great parent and a wonderful sister, there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for him.
Tanner was finally convinced to step in as the coach and as Mary- Beth got together again, they learned what really happened when they were in high school. Parents always think they are doing the right thing but it doesn't very often work out the way they think it will. As Tanner and Mary-Beth moved forward, they learned a lot about each other and Mary-Beth found an old engagement ring and discovered Tanner was going to propose to her when they were young. One thing Mary-Beth said and it isn't the exact quote is, I am glad you didn't propose to me back then because it wouldn't have worked out because back then she would have been just the shadow of his shine but because they went separate ways, she found out what she could do and created her own shine. I think that is something young people should think about.
I enjoyed their story, all that they went through, all that they did with their life, and how coming home can awaken so many things.
Ciara Knight writes sweet romances that are engaging and just the right fit for a light read. When I first loaded this book onto my Kindle, I was unexpectedly surprised, and pleasantly so. It tickles me that the last two books I read took place in towns with Maple in the names.
Mary-Beth is the so-called Coffee Whisperer of Sugar Maple, Tennessee. Her former boyfriend, Tanner McCadden, has come back to town after his father's death to help run his family's farm. The problem for Mary-Beth is that she can't figure out what kind of coffee hits Tanner's sweet spot. There is a lot of water under the bridge where their relationship was to where it is now. Underlying all the angst between them are lies and deceptions that have kept them apart for years--lies told by both sets of parents and deliberate deceptions meant to at odds.
What I didn't realize when I started reading this book is that is the fourth book of a series, but that doesn't make it any less readable or enjoyable. I don't feel like I have missed anything by not reading the other books first. I think the focus on Mary-Beth and Tanner provides enough background to make the plot quite understandable. If You Hold Me is written well enough that it could be a stand-alone novel.
So here's the scoop: the characters are relatable, the plot lines are believable, the setting is charming, and the outcome is extremely satisfying, giving this book four solid stars.
Author Collective 20 and NetGalley.com provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A delightful story of love healing old wounds and growth! It is best read with your favorite beverage in honor of the "Coffee Whisperer" (who also "reads" tea drinkers). It continues a series of a wonderful town that bands together to support its inhabitants. This time it is the story of the "Coffee Whisperer" and the former hometown football hero. Read it and discover the warmth of enjoyment within!
I did receive an ARC via Netgalley but I freely give my honest review.
Delightful second chance romance , I love small town reads they’re just so warm and friendly, you feel like you want to live there too. Great characters, sweet romance, the perfect escape
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an honest honest
If You Hold Me by Ciara Knight was a delightful read. Until the very end I wasn’t sure how the story would end but was pleasantly surprised. Tanner and Mary-Beth had to overcome parental lies and differing dreams to even come to the place of being friends again. I truly enjoyed it!
