This was fun and a book that really grabbed me and I just loved to see how all the characters interacted with each other

I really enjoyed this book, it’s easy story to follow with gets you hooked from the start. The characters feel soo real and are really detailed.

Paige is a wedding cake baker, who has clearly been through the emotional wringer and has now been hired by her ex‘s wedding cake for his wedding with the woman he left her for. When all she wants is to let loose at a party and find someone to have fun with, her friend pushes her towards "the guy in the black shirt". What Paige doesn't realise is that there are two guys in black shirts and did she pick the one who was great for a bit of fun or the one who wants something a bit more?

Paige is such a good strong character, who doesn’t want a man to be in charge of her. She hates surprises and is worried to go with the flow.
Noah is a ENT doctor who’s charming, spontaneous, loving and not the guy who Paige is looking for but he seems like the perfect guy for her.
Her ex boyfriend Chris is doing nothing but confusing Paige. He didn’t have the guts to dump her so she dumped him. She doesn’t want to do his wedding cake but then … she needs the money. He knows she struggling to decide what to do but he isn’t making her life easier.

I will say the cover is misleading and it was not what I expected from the novel to be but …. I did enjoy it. It has serious moments, really funny moments such a great variety to create this romance.

This is such a feel good story with a positive ending. This is the story of Paige, a up and coming baker, and Noah, a NTE doctor. Their story starts with a mix up and it develops from there.
Paige finds it difficult to trust people and she is not, according to her, a relationship person. She is hoping Noah will be the distraction she needs, but as it can be expected, he is so much more than that.
I really enjoyed this book. The writing is easy to follow and hooks you right and, and the characters are likeable and feel real. I liked Noah, and I disliked Chris, Paige's ex. I would have liked more complexity to the Chris Paige relation in the present time, and maybe more of a plot there, but other than that, it was great.

'The Mix-Up' by Holly McCulloch centres on wedding cake baker Paige who manages to agree to bake the cake for her ex-boyfriend's upcoming nuptials... Not complicated at all! Aware she needs to blow off some steam, her friend directs her towards the perfect man for a fling at a party, the one wearing the black jumper. In a case of mistaken identity, she goes home with sweet Noah, who may be a candidate for slightly more than a fling!

This book has enjoyable elements. I particularly enjoyed Paige and Noah delivering a cake to a venue together, just one example of some of the more comedic light-hearted moments. However, I would agree with the reviews that state the blurb and cover are misleading. Paige is a breast cancer survivor which is a trauma which dictates her decisions and reactions to experiences in the book. She is very much still processing her past (with the support of her 'breast friend') which brings a heaviness to the narrative which I was not aware of going into this.

Overall, Paige and Noah are a sweet couple and I enjoyed the concept. Just be aware of the layers to the narrative which may make this a more tough read than it appears on the surface.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher who provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Mix Up was definitely a fun romance novel and I did really enjoy it but I doubt it will be one that will stick with me or be one that I will be thinking about in the future. It was just a really sweet romance story.
I loved the wedding cake aspect. It is something that I have never really seen in a romance book before, but apart from that this was nothing new or exciting, it was just a really sweet love story.

This was a fun romance that was exactly what the doctor ordered. Nothing revolutionary but enjoyable definitely and I loved our heroine, she felt so relatable!

I'm suck for a book featuring cake, especially gorgeous sounding wedding cakes, so this we certainly a story that caught my attention.

And I loved how Paige is trying her hardest with her business, but isn't that bothered about love, until she ends up asking new contact Mika for a distraction and she ends up with the wrong guy in a black top.

Key meeting Noah who it turns out is everything Paige is convinced she doesn't need, until well things may change.

There is a lot to love with this book, including a storyline on a tough subject, and some interesting family dynamics too.

It's a lovely story that I enjoyed reading.

Thank you to Transworld and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Hilarious, touching, fantastic, fun, emotional, this book has it all, it’s such a great read. I mean I love to bake so tell me someone is a baker or runs a bakery etc I’ll be there, but like if it’s a library or bookstore it’s an obsession but it never lets me down. Fantastic romance without too much schmaltz and a perfect book to pick you up when you feel down.

Interesting storyline with a mistaken identity that had some very hilarious moments but also filled with some heartbreaking scenes and past moments.
Overall it’s a nice read and I think many people will enjoy it

I went into this thinking it'd be a light hearted romance and while there was romance there were also some heavier themes. But it was wholesome, with some good one liners.

I really enjoyed this even if it wasn't quite as described. It is marketed as a feel good read but it had quite a heavy subject line running through it. It definitely didn't deter me from my enjoyment. I loved the Humor that was laced though the story it helped go break up some of the serious bit. I found the case of mistaken identity amusing and I could definitely get behind some of Paiges reasons for having her boundaries set as they were. Noah was such a sweet heart I loved him. Over all a good story that kept me engaged from start to finish

It took me a little while to get into this one and I nearly didn’t make it through but I’m glad I kept on with it. I picked this book back up during a tricky time in my life (I think we all know how that can be these past few years!) and it contained just the right amount of substance while staying true enough to the distracting light-hearted romance vibe I was really looking for.

It’s difficult to know how much to divulge because I know that some of the spoilers I got reading reviews contributed to my trouble getting fully sucked into the story at first. Paige is a great protagonist, a little flawed and cynical but easy to empathise with and enjoy. Some of the other characters fell a little flat for me, but for the most part “The Mix-Up” has a fab cast of characters and an engaging plot.

Big thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and the author for sending me a copy of this to read and review.

I love baking so I was doubly excited when I started this book. This is a fun and quick read and I absolutely loved the chemistry between Paige and Noah, I also loved how Paige manages to open up as the story progresses and we learn why she is the way she is and isn't the romantic type.

Paige is such a strong, brave and independent woman and I loved how this was written. This was the first book that I have read by Holly McCulloch but hopefully it won't be the last.

I was given this book for free in return for an honest review. Sometimes I just want to read something that is ‘nice’, not taxing my brain or keeping me up all night because I can’t cope with suspense. This is what I’d call a ‘holiday read’. It was funny, heart-warming and feel-good. I loved the main character, flaws and all, The book was written in a way that made me feel like I knew her. I’m looking forward to read more from this author.

This book realy appealed to me when I saw it listed. I couldn’t wait to get started.

The synopsis of the book grabbed my attention; it sounded just my type of book.

The book started brilliantly. I was hooked within a couple of pages. The main character, Paige, was an interesting character, not overly well described and her back story was very hazy, leading the reader to expect an unraveling of her history as part of the story. She makes wedding cakes.

Paige’s introduction to Noah came quickly and their relationship was presented to us early in the book. We also met Paige’s ex, Chris…he and his fiancée come into the story as customers of Paige, requiring a wedding cake.

Paige met with Chris away from his fiancée a few times, which cast some shadows over her character, but made her more realistic really.

Unfortunately, the book peaked for me at about the 35-40% mark. After this it felt really hard to engage with. I was confused by Paige and found her health storyline a strange one. I believe this was meant to explain her character traits, but it didn’t feel right to me.

I’m so conflicted writing this as I really did love the start of this book.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review 📚

I really enjoyed this book! Paige has clearly been through the emotional wringer and has now been hired by her ex to do a wedding cake for his wedding with the woman he left her for. When all she wants is to let loose at a party and find someone to have fun with, her friend pushes her towards "the guy in the black shirt". What Paige doesn't realise is that there are two guys in black shirts and did she pick the one who was great for a bit of fun or the one who wants something a bit more?

This protagonist was fiery, emotional, funny and most of all real. the characters are loveable and endearing and it made me want to know them in real life. This is a book I'd willingly revisit at points in life when I need a bit of a pick me up, which it is perfect for. I only wish there was a sequel so I could see the next steps for Paige.

I really enjoyed this book. It had far more depth than you’d expect from the blurb. Yes, there’s romance and a bit of mistaken identity but this is more about a woman who has survived breast cancer and the impact it has had on her life. I feel that’s a major topic that people should be aware of in case it’s something they are not comfortable reading about.

When Paige’s ex and his new fiancée come to her for their wedding cake, she wishes so badly that she was in a financial position to say no but isn’t and so she finds herself spiraling and in need of a distraction.

She seeks distraction in Noah who is supposed to be a bit of fun but there has been a bit of a “mix up” and Noah is not the no-strings sort she had mistaken him for, but is he the inspiration she didn’t realise she had needed?

This story was warm and comforting and I really enjoyed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were really well written. The plot was a romance but with a modern twist. Nice to read something a little bit different and not completely predictable. The main character, Paige, was very relatable and you could connect to her story. This book would make a fantastic holiday read, and I got through this title very quickly. It is a feel good book. I also really like the cover, this would definitely appeal to me in a shop. A loveable rom-com.
