Lucy has a dream that many brides-to-be share, getting married on a beach in the sun, surrounded by close friends and family.
I know that if anyone can spin this dream image into a nightmare it’s Tammy Cohen and she does it with verve. I wanted to keep on reading this novel all day long and every free moment I had I picked it up again and found myself surrounded by a family that I came to know as close as my own which is how I ended up reading this novel in record time.
Lucy and Jason chose sunny Kefalonia in Greece to have their dream wedding. Lucy’s parents Hazel and Dom and sister Jess are invited and Jason has his mother Cora with him and they also both have their best friends by their sides, Shelly being Lucy’s friend and Gil and his wife Zoe are there for Jason. The cast isn’t complete yet, there’s also the wedding planner Nina, Jess’s surprise guest and Vivian, an old woman who happens to be around a lot.
In the first pages of the novel there’s a body found but the author doesn’t let on who it is. There are extracts from police interrogations with several characters that helped me mostly to eliminate who wasn’t dead, but it didn’t really mean I found out who the killer of the party was. There were also Therapy Journal entries that told of a very tragic childhood and this person’s history up to the present. I didn’t have a clue whose point of view this was so I tried to figure out first whether it was a man or a woman and when I knew that there were still several people who could fit the bill because quite a few of them were acting dodgy about their past.
That alone would have kept me busy but no there was a lot (A LOT) more going on. You see, this story really is riddled with secrets, and everyone seems to be hiding something. I had the feeling I couldn’t trust anyone here and there was motive enough for killing but I couldn’t really see it in any of them… and yet, it did happen in the end. I must say I was kind of surprised after all but more than that, I was actually feeling a bit sad and I felt even sadder for the person who died when more about the past events came to light.
The Wedding Party is a novel filled with lots of domestic drama and tragedy. It is especially that tragedy and the psychological pain one of the characters feels in the novel that made it so noteworthy and memorabel for me and this character’s personality was developed so well that they krept under my skin. The novel has a great cast of characters and they each contribute to the story brilliantly. I’m sure it will surprise you in the best way! It’s definitely a novel to read for fans of Catherine Cooper (The Chalet) and Lucy Foley (The Hunting Party).

So I was really looking forward to this one after reading #dyingforchristmas by the same author but I read quite a lot of middle rate 3 star reviews and was a little put off. However, I decided to see for myself and I’m very glad I did!
I found this to be a really good thrilling read, but i want to address some of the negative things I read about it first.
A lot of people commented that there wasn’t any likeable characters and its true, all the characters are deeply flawed and pretty self centred, but I felt this was the whole point of the plot. It proved all of them were capable of committing the crime, had their own motives and shouldn’t be trusted.
I read another few comments about it being obvious who was the author of the ‘diary’ parts and again I think that was intentional by the author as they gave background and context to the story and I didn’t think it anyway made the outcome obvious.
I really enjoyed the whole set up of the book; the mixing of narrators, with police interviews and diary entries really broke the plot up and gave lots of information while keeping the chapters short and snappy kept the confusion and tensions alive.
I found it easy to read and well written. The descriptions of the island were beautiful and gave me longing for some summer sun!
Overall, I think this was a great read. Definitely what I expected to get from a book of this nature and perhaps a little more. Would definitely recommend it!
(This is just my opinion and respect other people’s right to an option equally.)

What a wedding thriller to read! This story takes us to a beautiful Greek island for the wedding of Lucy and Jason, little do they know that their wedding is about to go horribly wrong!
The scenery described in this book is perfect, it really made me imagine that I was there! The twists in this story were well written and greatly timed. I was kept hooked throughout this book and I would highly recommend it for fans of Lucy Foley and TM Logan.
This is another good thriller by Tammy Cohen. It’s probably not my favourite one by her but it was still an enjoyable read.
It’s an easy, entertaining story with plenty of twists along the way,
I actually enjoyed this thriller and it was an easy read. The actually story taken place in Greece was well written. The secrets between the characters k think added depth to the story too. If you like writers such as Lucy Foley and TM Logan you will love it .
I love Tammy Cohen as a writer and storyteller but didn't feel this kept my interest for very long I'm afraid. I'd read very similar before if I am honest and there was nothing unique about the story, plot or twists. It was set in Kefalonia but I didn't feel I got that from the novel in particular. It's made me never want to attend a wedding ever again though haha. Some strange people at these gatherings.
I'm still going to read her next one though.

The Wedding Party takes you to the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia where Lucy is about to marry the move of her life Jason. She’s been dreaming about this day since she was a little girl and wants the day to be perfect. With her whole family there, her sisters random plus one and a strange old lady, what could possibly go wrong? I read this book over a couple of days and whilst I did enjoy the book, it didn’t grip me as much as I thought it would. Having said that, the island descriptions were lovely and I found I did want to finish the book. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the chance to review.
Having read similar books by authors like Lucy Foley, I was keen to see how this book would compare. I enjoyed the characterisation, although it was tricky finding any sympathetic characters but the biggest bonus for me were the descriptive details. These made me want to visit the island to enjoy the scenic views. This book kept my attention to the end although I found that this lacked the suspense I was hoping for. The promo material says 'and then they find the body' but this isn't quite accurate and doesn't reflect the timing or circumstances of the death. I think this promotional material would benefit approaching the book from a different angle. That said, I would be happy to read more books from this author.
An innocuous, easy read. The plot was pretty straightforward and the twists weren't surprising.
It was okay but I felt like I'd read this kind of thing before.
Tammy Cohen is a great writer and I always look forward to her novels. This one was another treat; a great read, kept me guessing and turning the pages at pace!
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really like this author she makes me smile and always had great characters, great locations and such a feel good storyline. Loved it.
Wedding on a wonderful greek island, nervous bride anticipate unforgetful event and she gets it. Dead body and many suspects, everyone with some hidden secret.
Should they bother to dig beneath the surface?
Very structured characters, the reader experiences all their emotions and inner turmoil and can't put down the book. Atmosphere is great and book very well written from different perspectives.
Story about families, guilt, passion and love. And someone who desperately tries to belong, no matter what.
Joy to read!
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I was on the fence about requesting this as a lot of books seem to have similar plots. I just couldn’t get into it.
Tammy Cohen’s books are always a treat! This exquisite story of a wedding going horribly wrong was no different. Loved it!
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book I loved it. This is a gripping read From page one you are drawn into Lucy's story & the build up to her big day in Greece She has planned a dream wedding but as the day draws closer disaster is looming. The story is told by numerous characters & they are all interesting A great read
I loved this delightful mystery. It was full of colorful characters and kept me on the edge of my seat the last page. I can highly recommend the wedding for any mystery fan.
I enjoyed Tammy Cohen’s Christmas Killer book which I read recently and so decided to request to read this one, hoping it would have the same impact!
I liked the book and there was nothing inherently wrong with it - it was enjoyable, it was full of unlikeable characters, it was intriguing (at first).
But it reminded me a lot of Lucy Foley’s recent books and it didn’t pack the same punch - I felt it was obvious who the person writing the diaries was... I also felt it was clear who the dead person was from fairly early on. Nothing shocked me in the story. But it was an enjoyable read as these HORRID characters tried to get through a vacation destination wedding...
Tammy Cohen is one of my very favourite authors so I was really excited to read this. Add in an exotic location and I'm sold.
I don't think I could have loved this any more. All the characters were written so well and for quite a large cast, we really got to know them. There were so many secrets and intriguing relationships between the characters. I loved that we got multiple perspectives and I enjoyed them all equally. I really felt for Lucy, trying to have her dream wedding whilst everything seemed to be falling apart around her.
This is definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time and I would 100% recommend it.
This novel follows Lucy's marriage to Jason. Told from the perspective of her best friend, sister, parents and her wedding planner.
Interspersed with the story are translated reports from the Kefalonian police interviews about an event that occured and a therapy diary from someone who may or may not be involved.
This was a great read up unil the very end where it felt rushed and I would have liked to hear a bit more from the characters involved.
Nonetheless a great read

A must read.
A couple is getting married and guests appeared for a wedding party but then something went terribly wrong.
They found a body.
Who's the murderer?
I loved the characters of Lucy, Jess, Jason, Shelly and Dom.
Narration of the story is excellent.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Transworld Publishers for giving me an advanced copy of this psychological thriller.
