Sprite and the Gardener is a cute story about fairies and how they help plants grow and thrive. I loved the artwork and the story was a cute tale. The artwork is one of the highlights of the story having vivid color, and colors for each character that corresponded with the fairies name. The drawing style is also, unique and cute adding to the stories atmosphere. Overall found this story to be great.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Oni Press for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts!

When I saw Katie O'Neill, my favorite author for feel-good graphic novels talking about this one, I already knew I was in for a treat. Oh boy, was I right!

Sprite and the Gardener is an incredibly strong debut graphic novel. The art style is absolutely gorgeous - soft colours, intricate character design, beautiful illustrations. Just looking at the pages will make you feel a rush of dopamine, and I'll definitely come back to this one when I need a little pick me up.

The story follows Wisteria, a sprite, who tries to find her place in a new community that she recently moved to, while also reviving the past of her kind and building connections with other sprites and humans alike. It was a very sweet tale of friendship and co-existence, a treat for your heart and soul!

Ugh, this is the sweetest graphic novel. I love that there's hardly any conflict and that it focuses on 'basic' concepts that adults could still use a refresher on (teamwork, cooperation, etc.) The art is beautiful, and the messages are so wholesome and deep too. I saw that Kay O'Neill (creator of The Tea Dragon Society) blurbed this, and I'd compare this to their work very much in some ways. It's just a little less epic and a little more quotidian, but in the best possible way. Can't wait to pick up a hard copy in May!

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.

Sprite and The Gardener is so incredibly cute. This story is about a sprite named Wysteria who is kind and curious as she explores the world. Wysteria finds herself using powers to heal and bring life to flowers in order to both help and impress a gardener... It doesn't exactly go to plan but it shows just how friendships can blossom.

The art is beautiful, the story is sweet and I want to read it all over again.

I adored the art style of this graphic novel, and the colour scheme was stunning. The story was cute, but there really wasn’t a lot of plot and I would’ve preferred for the novel to be a bit longer.

This is a cute little graphic novel with a lovely moral. It tells of a little sprite named Wisteria and her new friendship with a human gardener who is not so good at the job. The book emphasises on the values of friendship, cooperation, hard work, and unity. The illustrations are adorable and bring the story to life. This will be a delightful quick read whenever you want a quick break from something intense. It's a heartwarming story that even children will enjoy.

Wow, just wow. It's a very short graphic novel but it's so cute and lovely. It made me cry at the end and I'm so glad I've read it. The drawings are amazingly sweet and beautiful. It's a perfect read when someone feels a bit sad o tired from the routine. This tale make you travel to the wonderful story about friendship between Westeria and Elena. Westeria is so cute and sweet, and she want to help to Elena with her garden. I highly recommend this book. You will love it.

I received this graphic novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was easily the mostly beautiful story I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The artwork was breathtaking! Many times I caught myself staying on a page longer than necessary just because I was blown away. The story itself is so wholesome and filled with love and wonder. It honestly inspired a desire to garden in me and I’ve never had much interest in it before now! It brought me back to when I was younger and made fairy houses and believed that fairies/sprites lived in my backyard! It inspired that child-like wonder in me and that is a wonderful feeling! I would highly recommend this graphic novel to anyone who loves nature, beautiful artwork, and unlikely friendships. I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy!

I'm already so enamoured by how beautiful this book is, and I only have the ebook in front of me. My coworker works at a comic shop and I will definitely encourage her to bring this one in if she hasn't already!

In the first two pages I'm already so impressed by the diversity. So many different skin tones!

...I'm just reacting as I read it. This is hecking delightful. My heart is full, I've been smiling from the start.

This is a beautiful comic about finding your place in the world and being yourself, even if it means you stand out from your friends.

UPDATE: I have tears pouring down my face for how SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL THIS COMIC IS. Please read it. Everyone should read it. It's good for all ages to enjoy and have their hearts full. <3

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book killed me with its cuteness, I just could not not loving it.

The sprites were the caretakers of all the gardens until the humans appeared and the sprites became something of the past. One day, Wisteria, a little cute and kind-hearted sprite decides to help a little human girl saves her mother's garden with her magical power but would her help be welcomed as she thought?

I really intend to re-read this book mainly for the amazing illustrations. All these colors are wonderful to look at and the sprites are so well portrayed that you can easily guess each one's unique personality. The story is beautiful, it's about being yourself, helping the others even if they think that they don't need it and it's about friendship and love. This book might be also a good gift for Mother's day. I loved so much Wisteria thank you for creating her.

3.5 stars rounded up.

Sprite and the Gardener was a real cute graphic novella. At around 90 pages it was a quick read, but it was perfectly pieced together and captivating. The pacing was fantastic, and I really liked the way that it wrapped up in a kind of cyclical way. I would love to read more about the sprites in this town, because the premise was so sweet.

The characters were fleshed out really well in the short pages, and the art style was fantastic. It's packed full of emotion and fun. A lovely read and I highly recommend it.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Sprite and the Gardener in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness, this graphic novel is pure serotonin. Sprite and the Gardener is a short, sweet, beautifully illustrated story of the power and friendship one little sprite finds in working outside of social norms to follow her passions and the lessons of friendship and unity she learns along the way. Absolutely delightful.

Sprite and the Gardener is an enchanting graphic novel; the illustrations are beautiful, with each character rounded splendidly. The story follows sprites, beings that used to take care of the garden, and their slow reconnection with humans - a gentle, sweet story about working together.

Being my first graphic novel (I know!), it took some getting used to, and was in many ways out of my comfort zone. It's a very different and immersive experience being able to see the characters that I was reading about, and I say that in a good way! Overall, it's a solid, simple story that is very accessible for most ages to read.

That being said, there were several things that I didn't love about the book. The main thing was a lack of depth or character development - things moved along in a very simple, quick and fantastical way, with little realism. It's clear that in its framework, 'Sprite and the Gardener' is intended to be focused more on the art than the plot, so this is more a criticism in my enjoyment rather than the validity of the book itself. This is likely due to the effort needed for each illustration and the short length of the book, which of course, I appreciate.

The cyclical ending to 'Sprite and the Gardener' is a lovely ending to a gentle and enchanting story. I can certainly appreciate it, and would likely give 4 or 5 stars for fundamentally what it is. That being said, in terms of my enjoyment compared to what I typically read, I can't give it anything other than 3. I'd recommend it to anyone with a green thumb like myself, or who enjoys appreciating beautiful visuals and illustrations :)

A lovely story! I don't have much of a green thumb myself, and it would be helpful to have so many sprites come and figure out what needs to be done!
The art is very well done, making me think of a mix of Magical Girl Manga and delicate fairy-tale illustrations. The story is simple, but has a lovely message of accepting help and working together to complete large tasks. It would be a great gateway for discussions on the importance of social activism through pretty flowers and faeries.

This graphic novel is fairly light on plot but has beautiful art work. It's a gentle story about friendship, magic and caring for nature. It's an uplifting and enjoyable read.

This was just the cutest graphic novel ever with the most enchanting illustrations.
In this one, faeries are endearing characters and Wisteria was so sweet. I love her relationship with Elena and how they decided to work together in order to do something they both cherish.
A beautiful tale of mutual aid and friendship.

This is a super cute graphic novel that will be perfect for those looking for a sweet, uplifting read full of gorgeous artwork. Sprites were once responsible for maintaining healthy and happy plant life, but as humans have taken up gardening and agriculture they've fallen by the wayside. Wisteria is a sprite who wonders if they could still help plants, and when she comes across a very run-down garden she decides to help the young human woman trying to restore it to glory. What follows is a short, but sweet, story of budding friendship and healing nature. It's a lovely little read, and the artwork is very intricate - you could spend a long time looking at this. Its upbeat cheerfulness would definitely suit fans of the Tea Dragon books, and the love and care with which it depicts plants and the healing power of gardening would suit fans of Fumio Obata's The Garden
