I found the book at absolutely the right time and it was a life saver. As a critical care nurse, two years into a pandemic, I'm exhausted both mentally and physically and burn out was/is just around the corner. This book gives you simple, clear and doable things to do and change to help. I think this is a book everyone should read, because life is stressful. It has helped me tremendously.

I really enjoyed this book; it was like it was written for me! The timing to read it couldn’t have come better.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Burnout is a buzzword of recent years, as technology plays an increasing role in our lives, with 24/7 access to the world. It’s not surprising that it’s hard to switch off at times. In Burnout, author Selina Barker explains ‘how to thrive with a hectic lifestyle’, using practical tools and exercises to guide us. The book is colourful and well-designed, making it a pleasure to read. It begins with a ‘Burnout SOS’ for those of us in need of urgent help because we’re physically and mentally exhausted, already right in the middle of a major burnout, or about to have one. The rest of the book takes a step back (prevention is far better than cure), for those of us not yet at the burnout stage. It explains what can cause burnout, how to get our energy levels back and how to redesign our lives. It’s a book that you could dip in and out of, and refer to again and again. It was fun to read – making me laugh at times – and highly encouraging. The comforting companion you need at a tough time.

The perfect book for the start of a new year - new year, new me etc. Would be much better as a hard copy rather than E-book due to the format. The content of the book matches the description well, it is well written and offers genuine, good advise. The cover is eyecatching and would make me pick it up to investigate it if in a book shop.

A quick and easy read which identifies clearly what burnout is and gives food for thought on how to overcome burn out. The colour scheme and layout of the book was well thought out and designed. I liked that the advice given in the book was practical and honest too especially with regards to staying in jobs that are toxic.
