This was an easy and enjoyable read. Camilla was an identifiable character, her anxiety, stress and lack of confidence were all strongly felt, and were entirely justifiable given the circumstances she was in. Her friends really were her life line.
I liked Blake, and the pull him and Camilla had to each other, I would of liked a little more padding of the last few chapters, as I felt it was a little rushed. However, the main essence of the book isn’t really about their relationship, it was Camillas relationship with herself, about regaining her self confidence and self worth, and the importance of her doing that on her own terms, whilst Blake appearance helps her, I also felt it was important to show she was strong in her own right, and didn’t need him to feel complete and to put her mum finally to rest ( even though he silently supported her in the background from his first appearance).
The cupcake van is beautifully described and my mouth watered every time the cupcakes were described. This book has left me very hungry and on a sugar high.
Camilla has lost her mum, her home, her car and her mojo for her passion - baking. She is at rock bottom. Her friends (her chosen family) come to her rescue, helping to rebuild her life with lots of love ,encouragement and ideas. With the gift of an old ice cream van and some hard work and determination Camilla starts a new chapter in her life.
I like how the author dealt with the issues of anxiety and panic attacks. It was approached in a realistic manner without dominating the book , yet still allowing the story to develop.
I also enjoyed the interaction between the characters. Especially her relationship with her hilarious aunt and mini mentor Jackson.
I found this a lovely heart warming story of friendship, determination and love, showing us all that by just taking one day at a a time you really can make a difference.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really enjoyed this book it had great characters, great storyline, a real feel good read.
You can almost taste the cupcakes in this book! This is a wonderful book to curl up with and enjoy, just make sure you have a good cup of hot chocolate an a mega cake to enoy it with or you will come away hungry!
I enjoyed reading this book, especially as I adore cupcakes! It was beautiful written about friendship, love and cupcakes. Such an easy read.
I did enjoy the story and love the idea of a cupcake van. I did feel like the story had been written in instalments though. As I read I was quite often “reminded” of things, that I had not forgotten in the process of reading the book, but may have needed a memory jog if it had been read over serval months. The ending also felt a little rushed.
That said it was a lovely feel good tale of friendship, overcoming adversity and making a fresh start. Great for a both a cosy wet weekend or on a beach
I received an advance copy of, The Cosy Little Cupcake Van, by Annette Hannah. This is a very sweet story about friendship, cupcakes, and of course love.
