Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point
by Sarah Bennett
Laurie runs the local cafe at Mermaid Point . Things start looking up when a good looking author rents a cottage for the summer. Things are not what they first seem Jake isn’t an author but a burnt out journalist who’s boss want him to write an article on whether mermaids are real! How bizarre follow Jake journey can he get his life back on track in Mermaid Point this Summer or dvdd ed n find a mermaid???
A book full of drama great characters beautiful scenes and of course the beach and the sea and a possible romance between Laurie and Jake
I did not finish this book, I did not find the plot very entertaining and I just could not get myself into this book. It all just fell very flat for me.
Wanted to like this, but the writing was a bit pedantic and the pacing way too slow to really entice me. Loved the descriptions of the area and the wistfulness ascribed to the sea, but the plot itself was a tad too meh for me. Also couldn't connect or root for either main character, which left me with another bummer

As always love books by Sarah Bennett and this one is no exception, they are always so warmhearted and full of lovely characters. Starting a new series we get the lovely beach setting, great characters, Laurie and Jake were perfect for each other, and great dynamics of Laurie's family. Looking forward to the rest of the series
Laurie and Jacob´s story. Sweet one and they worked well together to balance each other. Hard to put this one down. Can be read alone, but the town stories are fun to read. Highly recommend.
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book
This is the first book in a series but unfortunately I don't think I'll read on. I don't love instalove and this book was pretty heavy on that.
Enjoyed from the first page and I really want to move to Mermaid’s point! The story was engaging, the characters admirable and it was just the perfect summertime reading for me! 4 stars!
This was a brilliant read and is being featured on my blog for my quick star reviews feature, which I have created on my blog so I can catch up with all the books I have read and therefore review.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.
And my opinion has nothing to do with mermaids... well, almost nothing.
I loved the characters, the dynamics. The family relationships between Laurie, her parents and her brother were so warm, open, sincere and oh soooo nice. Jake... well, Jake is Jake. One has to be born a journalist.
Romantic story set in a very romantic place, full of amazingly likeable characters, what more could you want?
Highly recommend this book for your holiday read, pick-me-up read or return-my-faith in humanity read. Enjoy
A cosy and sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed. It's engrossing, entertaining and I rooted for the well thought characters.
It's the perfect summer read and it made me smile and kept reading.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A really good read
First in a new series
Full of loveable characters
A charming town that you just want to visit
And the mystery of the mermaid sightings
And getting to know Lainie and Jake.
Can’t wait for the next in the series
Thanks NetGalley
I loved this so much, it was so sweet and charming. It is set in a cute picturesque seaside town , I loved the family and community feel so much. To be fair I absolutely love a small town romance with a bit of a mystery. I loved the relationship between Jake and Laurie, they had such great chemistry and are so cute. . Looking for an escape this summer, this is definitely a great one
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Aww, this book makes me miss home so much! Not that we have mermaids where I come from (that I’m aware of) but I do come from a small coastal town and there really is such a strong sense of community there. I miss my walks on the beach!
Who doesn’t love a small town romance with a bit of a mystery and the potential for mermaids. It’s just such a lovely feel good book! I binge read this within a day, and although I’m a big reader, that is so very rare!
Love the relationship between Jake and Laurie, who wouldn’t fall in love with these two, the are both so lovely and there’s such great chemistry between them.
If you’re looking for an escapist read this summer that takes you to the beach (somewhere many of us aren’t going to get). Then this is a must read!!
I’m going to be downloading the rest of Sarah Bennet’s books to keep me feeling good throughout the summer!
Well this was most definitely a winner for me. As a whole it's not too deep and not too heavy, but it evoked some emotional responses and left me with the warm and fuzzies. I thought it was sweet and charming and delightful. It is the quintessential summer read and I absolutely loved the family dynamic and community feel. I want more of each of the characters now that I've fallen in love alongside Laurie and Jake.
My thanks to Boldwood Books for the complimentary copy. It was delightful- which is entirely my own opinion.
This story just didn’t work for me. Everything moved too fast to be plausible. From hello to I love you my darling in a split second. Very odd. Also the mermaid business was frankly unclear and the ending felt quite chopped. The setting was nice so it’s too bad the characters just didn’t work out.
Brilliant heartwarming romantic story following Jake and Laurie. Made me appreciate living by the sea and had me wishing I could witness Mermaids when out for my walk. I've not read any of Sarah's books before but honestly can't wait for the next and will be hunting out any previous storys.
Beautiful story set in such a picturesque seaside town. I really enjoyed reading about the developing relationship between Laurie and Jake, they were both quite complex characters but that just made their relationship more believable. The narrative was quite slow paced at times and the story was predictable but I really enjoyed it. Lovely lighthearted bit of escapism.
I really enjoyed this one. It is a sweet, and easy-to-read book. I love the setting and atmosphere! A good beach read for sure!
