The Tiny Kitchen cookbook by Annie Mahle is the perfect cookbook for anyone who cooks in a small kitchen. I could see her cookbook as the perfect housewarming gift for someone who moves into a Tiny House. Why? The author gives plenty of tips on how to organize and cook in a small kitchen. Something she should know something about as she cooks in a tiny schooner galley on a regular basis.

Most of her recipes are portioned for two and require little cooking equipment. Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Grown-Up Cream of Mushroom Toast
Bacon and Sage Beef Stew
Caramelized Shallot, Spinach and Comte Tart

Recommend.

The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook is much more than a cookbook! There are awesome recipes, of course! Annie Mahle’s practical advice and encouragement about cooking in a tiny kitchen can be adapted to working in any sized kitchen. Dual-purpose pots and cooking tools are super handy. Planning recipes and ingredients is also important, but so is being flexible in utilizing ingredients on hand and incorporating leftovers into other dishes. Annie also encourages you to create your own combinations, such as in the Cranberry Apple Grunt recipe. My combination is going to be blueberries and peaches. I’m excited to get started!

Whether home is a small apartment, a tiny house or RV, a boat, or a college dorm room, space in the kitchen is nearly always at a premium. But cooking in a small kitchen, with minimal equipment, doesn't have to be limiting; it can actually be is a great opportunity to hone food-prep skills and become a more efficient, versatile home chef. And the smarter the workspace, the easier it is to cook. In The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook, chef Annie Mahle shares her small-space cooking strategies and 50 of her favorite recipes she’s developed as the galley chef aboard the J&E Riggin, a windjammer she operates with her husband every summer off the coast of Maine. From her 6-by-8-foot kitchen, she prepares three beautiful, flavorful meals from scratch every day, for up to 30 people. Along with gorgeous recipes Mahle delivers tips and techniques for making the most of a small kitchen. Strategies such as “shopping” the pantry before going to the store, transforming leftovers into new meals, create vertical storage options, and buy utensils that nest all help create meals with maximum flavor in minimal space.

I have a small kitchen, but not this small. It was interesting to read the author's strategies for space and item use. I, too, appreciate items that can be multifunction. Recommended for those with small kitchens who need some help with organization and want some new small batch recipes.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for sending me a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook is both a cookbook and a guidebook for making small meals in small spaces. It’s filled with excellent, practical tips for making the most of your kitchen space and equipment: from how to efficiently grocery shop and minimize food waste to better organizing your storage and adapting meals for when you just don’t feel like cooking. Each recipe is designed for 2 servings, decreasing both the total cook time and the quantity of leftovers that need space to store.

I do wish, though, that recipes with ingredients that potentially could be off-putting to less experienced cooks (such as the whole fish in the recipe “Herbed Redfish with Lemon and Lime” in this cookbook, which was described as sometimes intimidating in the version I received) also included tips for how to eat it, not just how to prepare it.

Overall, this is a great book for anyone currently struggling with cooking in their small kitchen space, those without many appliances, those thinking of downsizing, or even those with large kitchens who want to improve their usability. Thank you again to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the privilege of reviewing an ARC.

While you may not be a small kitchen chef, this book identifies best use practices that can work in any size kitchen. If you are downsizing or trying to unclutter your life, you’ll find many amazing ideas within these covers.

My home has a large kitchen but I’m definitely in need of better organization. I’ve found many helpful ideas in this book. It’s not just a cookbook. Is a lifestyle book. Whether you live in a tiny house, RV, or onboard a boat, The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook is a great read.

I’ve not made any of the recipes, yet, I am intrigued and my copy has many bookmarks for future reference. I look forward to trying several on my boat next summer. In the meantime I’ll be making changes in my larger home kitchen to fit this lifestyle.

While I don't technically have a tiny kitchen, I do share it with three other people which means that the space actually available to me on any given night is severely limited. If I'm lucky and get in there before anyone else, I might be able to roam around, but if not... it's a struggle. So when I saw Mahle's The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook I knew it might be the right cookbook for me! And I was correct!

The section on Set Up and Strategies, on how to make the most of your space, is super useful! The kitchen is also a territory that has become overwhelmed with all the different types of devices you can get, which means that if you already have little space you really need to be smart about what appliances to use. I also enjoyed the straightforward instructions and the fact that none of the ingredients are difficult to source.

One recipe has already become a staple, namely the 'Seared Tomato, Avocado and Farmer's Cheese Toast'. It is honestly so easy to make and so delicious, especially with a touch of sriracha! I also want to try the Spinach Balls and the Caramelized Shallot, Spinach and Comte Tartlet soon. 'The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook' is brilliant guide on how to make the most of your space and chockfull of delicious recipes!

The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook lives up to its name in a big way. The author shares wisdom gleaned from cooking in a galley kitchen with little room for large appliances or any extra clutter. The key to making the most of a small space is to be organized and efficient. The author points out that most of us will always wish we had more room no matter the size of our kitchen, so these tips are useful for everyone.

I really enjoyed reading about the author's experiences and background in cooking in smaller spaces. I was emboldened to try these recipes, especially after reading that anyone could make do without having fancy gadgets or appliances. This cookbook will appeal to modern cooks who want to host dinner parties without sacrificing flavor and ingredients as well as home cooks who embrace a minimalist lifestyle.

Beautiful pictures with clear directions. Too many recipes that just wouldn't work in my house, or for get-togethers unfortunately. Lovely book though!

Great ideas for tasty meals and the lack of food processing is evident. Exotic ingredients combined with store cupboard staples combine to create amazing food in a very small space with minimum of equipment. From the buying of ingredients and organisation of the utensils to what to do with waste is all covered. In its own section before you start cooking. Some great photographs throughout the book and what to do with leftovers. Thank you #NetGalley for the copy to review.

I liked the approach in general, with the ideas for making the most of your storage space and how to use up ingredients in multiple ways.

Unfortunately, my idea of what I want to make in my RV kitchen while on the road is apparently quite different from what a former chef on a yacht thinks I want to make. I don't think my husband and I would really want to eat Cucumber, Walnut and Yogurt Soup in any setting, and while Crab and Avocado Crepes with Chipotle Cream sounds delightful, I'm happy to save that level of cooking for when I have a real kitchen again.

There are also a number of vegetarian recipes that have notes like "With this much flavor you won't miss the meat!" (Honey, it's not my taste buds that miss the meat, it's my blood sugar and stomach a couple hours after a veggie meal.) As with my other complaints, I'm sure the vegetarian recipes are actually a big perk for some people.

The few recipes I could see myself using (beef stews, potato based skillet meals, and such) are the kinds of things I can throw together on my own or with any standard recipe.

I do think this is a fabulous cookbook for the right person, that person is just not me.

Thanks to NetGalley for the free review copy! My review is based on my own honest opinions.

Final. Nothing earth shattering was provided in terms of how to cook in a small kitchen the recipes featured didn’t even really expand upon that. I’m interested in a few and will read this more closely after publication to give it a fair shot.

I love the informational part of The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook. The author gives hints for maximizing storage and how to shop and store minimally. She also focuses on her basic essential tools needed for cooking fantastic meals. The recipes were for two people but can be upsized as needed. Most recipes are paired with beautiful color photographs. For me personally I thought the food would be simpler. A lot of ingredients were for foods I'm not familiar with in cooking. I often stay in AirB&Bs or places with kitchenettes when traveling and I was thinking the recipes would be more simple. The author knows her stuff and I would love to sail on her ship and prepare food for me. Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Fabulous cooking/food book with gorgeous photos written by someone who loves to cook and who has spent years turning out meals for groups in a literal boat's galley kitchen with zero electricity! Personable, creative, everyone can do this do this type of instruction; also chock full of ideas and suggestions for making fast, memorable, flavor filled meals for two or more in a very small kitchen (boat, RV, vacation cabin, studio apartment, tiny home, etc). The book also works for those who have limited counter space or storage, including refrigeration. No matter what your setup is, you will find these recipes easy and delicious. They are designed to use what you have on hand -- no special or pricey ingredients or tools needed. I highly suggest reading the informative chapters preceding the recipes as they are full of highly useful information. This is one of the best books I've read all year!

A charming book with beautiful photos, plenty of practical information on properly setting up a tiny kitchen, and of course plenty of recipes! Some recipes call for fancy specific types of cheese or other foods but others are simple with easy to find ingredients. Details on how to cook are abundant, as are ideas for using leftover sauces and other recipe elements in other ways.

Recipes for a variety of tasty and attractive meals, snacks and appetizers designed for small kitchens and minimal equipment. I loved the colorful pictures and the complete and thorough instructions. For my own circumstances, some of the ingredients were a bit difficult to obtain, but the flavor combinations were delightful and the clear instructions gave me confidence. I like the minimal approach to kitchen equipment.

Hi everyone!
I think this is the first recipe book that doesn’t make me want to cook.
The photos are amazing and there are some great tips for a small kitchen.
The recipes are sometimes repetitive and aren’t neither hard or creative.

My kitchen isn't necessarily small but I'm certainly lacking decent counter space and room in my cupboards so a book like this is a great help! This book is full of great tips, recipes and beautiful pictures. Recipes are geared to two servings which awesome for my two person household, and lean towards being "fancier" then what I would usually eat during the week but they don't use overly "fancy" ingredients and are "one pan" or "one bowl" recipes. with minimal prep.

a useful book for those with the proverbial 'tiny kitchen'. Particularly helpful is the section at the beginning explaining just how little equipment you actually need and how most utensils can multitask ! Also the tip to buy small quantities in shops that sell loose in bulk. The recipes are interesting with something for every taste. I would certainly recommend this book for students and others setting up home and discovering the kitchen is much smaller than they may be used to!

This book is proof that you can absolutely do gourmet without a big kitchen and fancy cooking instruments. I really enjoyed the Use it Up chapter, but also that Use it Up was sprinkled in each recipe. You probably have ingredient X left after making recipe Y, here are a few other ways you can use that ingredient up. Genius. The buttermilk fried chicken salad with apples and blue cheese was a crowd pleaser as an easy weekend lunch. The Crab and Avocado Crepes with chipotle cream were a big hit with my husband. All recipes are for 2 which is nice for couples.
